A study by Dicker-Oren and colleagues involving 123 participants from Israel revealed that those who practiced restrained eating reported higher levels of hunger and cravings, influenced by a complex interplay with negative emotions. This suggests that interventions aimed at reducing restrained eating and addressing psychological factors associated with dietary restraint may more effectively regulate food intake. While restrained eating is intended to control food intake and combat obesity, it may inadvertently heighten hunger and cravings, highlighting the importance of strategies that address the psychological aspects of eating behaviors.

    We have seen this in many of our clients (and ourselves!) Can quickly become a vicious cycle of 'restrained eating' and 'overeating'
