I'm actually pleasantly surprised, so many adv bikes are regarded highly but you rarely ever see anyone actually buying them. Meanwhile the 800DE seems to be really popular. That's good as I'm hoping they'll release a more advanced edition with tubeless tires and cruise control :)
Happy new bike day Dickie. Hello to Dickie's mum. I remember Shotover and the White Horse from being a youngster, a ride out when we visited nan's at Oxford. B reg Mini traveler with me and my brother sat in the boot, days long since gone by 😊
Thanks John.. Must of been a sixties thing putting the kids in the boot 😄.. My mate used to sit on a biscuit tin in the back of Morris Minor Traveler 😆…
Congrats to Dickie. Beautiful bike for a cool dude or should I dare say cool old dude. haha. It’s nice to see two good friends having a blast. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
@@WiltshireManOut of interest, what road was that you were riding before you stopped off to admire the vistas? Reason I ask, is because I’m moving down to Wiltshire soon, so will want to explore new roads, and that one looked particularly spectacular.
Nothing beats that new bike feeling. Only had it twice myself but remember it very well. Second hand bikes are great too but seeing single digits on the mileometer cant be beaten.
Congratulations to Dickie on the new bike. Two beautiful bikes there, plenty of good fun in store for you two lads on future rides out. Respect to Dickies mum on her age and cooking skills. Her generation is very precious and must be looked after. I’m sure Dickie is looking after his lovely mum. Great film, thank you. 🍻👍👍
Oh yes you can bet you last penny, Dickie puts him Mum at the very top of his agenda, she is a wonderful person, bright and sharp despite her age, still cooks and cleans and does some garden work too, she hardly ever stops. That generation knew the hardships of the past and they are as you say very precious
Congratulations Dickie!!!!!!! You did a great job choosing your new bike. Now it's time for the new bike shenanigans starring Sandy and fellow Suzuki man Dickie. Have fun and stay safe you guys! See you on the next one.
Lovely dear old Mum there, bless her. My Mum was also born in 1934. I like the gold wheels. Lovely ride out, I used to really love dragons hill, and always felt 'something' there... You wouldn't think that is summer with the spits of rain and heavy grey sky! Dickie looked like a contented soul with his new wheels.
Hi Bry, Dickie's mum is proper old school, a really great cook and she hardly ever sits down, always on the go despite arthritis etc and she's sharp. Dickie is always laid back and easy going, you'd find him very easy to get on with. He's been reading your books too:)
Nice one Dickie it looks a beauty. Not sure if they do it now but the brand new cars I bought in my younger days all had a full tank of petrol so was surprised to see he needed to stop to fill up. But I guess each country has their own ways of doing things. Safe travels. Ken.
@WiltshireMan you let me know in advance sandy and I'll do my best to appreciate your presence with dickie and give you the watering hole & food top up you Deserve 🍻 it'll be my pleasure 👍 I've just got back from the STATES didn't manage too meet up with Amante and compare our collection ? Loved the 86° weather while we were there though 🙌🇬🇧🇺🇸🍻👍
Another lovely video, thank you so much. I preferred you having the one camera on the bike. You get to see where your going all the time rather than going backwards with just trees whipping by.
Well done Dicky hope that you enjoy your new toy. Far more practical and versatile than all the bigger adventure bikes. I found that the 650 was ideal for me on the French trip. These bikes can be used to get to your destination and ride the smaller roads that is not fun on BIG bikes especially negotiating narrow lanes and gravel roads - car pars etc.
What a lovely new bike Dickie thanks for sharing this with us love the colour scheme the wheels especially. Have lots of fun guys and stay safe. The lemon drizzle cake looked amazing one of my favourites.👍
Congratulation on a new bike too your frind. If its a propper suzuki nothing's gona fall off so l guess he is gona have this bike forever. Great video. 🇳🇴☕
When I see your bike videos, I get tempted to get back in to motorcycling. However, I’d be in hospital before long. I’ll stick to hiking, cycling and camping. Good stuff
Always like a midweek motorbike vid. Cant go wrong. Reckon that 800 is about the best size of engine which will last and last. look forward to more of your touring vids. thanks for sharing.
5 to 1 isn’t compression it’s a gentle squeeze. Hello Dickies mum. When we had a go on a mates bike the only question was “where’s the gears” and the answer was usually one down three up unless it was a Beezer then it was one up three down. Technical stuff.

Lovely bikes Sandy, I'm sure Dickie will enjoy some great adventures on his new 800de. It reminds me of the last bike tour when I rode on a BMW F850GS in South Africa,

Looks like a lovely bike. I’m sure he’ll have lots of good times riding that. You look like you are both in the same team colours with your yellow bikes
Very nice bike that, thanks so much for sharing a sneak peek of it. The styling reminds me of the Super Tenere. I'm thinking of dropping my Himalayan for something with a bit more poke. Suzuki could have the answer!
I'm keeping my Himi Oscar as it's a bit of a mule and I don't mind it getting a bit dirty but if I was just going to run one bike then the Suzuki 800DE Vstrom would be my choice, it is a real nice bike and competes very well against others in its category
I suspect a Dicky endorsement is quite the coup for Suzuki. I’m 71 now, 55 years of riding. One of the rarely spoken about advantages for those in advancing years is the ease at which a bike allows a rider to stand on the pegs. Sure a Goldwing is armchair comfortable, but an “adventure” bike that can be ridden while stretching out is magic.
Dickie is his own man, he likes what he likes and there's no changing him, he does have a selection of head gear including closed face helmets but prefers to wear what he wears:)
Been riding with an open face helmet for 49 years John… Must admit I did wear a full facer when riding the 1290 super duke as my spectacles had a tendency to blow off my face 😄

lovely bike Dickie, nice video Sandy.
Thanks John, I think Dickie is happy with his new bike
I think that bike's going to be one of Suzuki's best sellers . . . . and with very good reason. Hope Dickie enjoys it.

Hi Jimmy He doesn't have a channel at the moment but I am encouraging him to start one
Oh your making my mouth water yum yum😊
Looks a cracking bike that new 800, will you boys be taking them on some dirt tracks?
I wouldn't personally, we both have Himalayans if we want to do some off roading

Be curious what fuel cost are over there ? I burn 87 octane in my 2017 v strom. $3.80 US gal . Is that 99 octane you put in the bike?
I try to use 95 or above fuel. Over here in the UK we pay around $12.76 per gallon, our gallons are slightly more than yours but not by much.
So thats would be like us paying $8.30 a gal if my bad math is right. Now I know why you take bicycle trips too ! Well if its any consolation, you get to ride in some pretty cool places and I love the scenery over there.
A fantastic new bike. And Ukraine blue and yellow too.
