I should get a t shirt that said “ I survived watching the dragon rally “ . It was great to see. The aquaduct was very interesting to me. The castles were a bonus. And than you get to go home to the love of your life and two dogs who once again thought you travelled around the world and finally came home to their enjoyment of coarse. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Good to see a video showing it 'as it is'. I would love to go one year, but the one thing I relish is sleep. I camped at Le Mans once, my God, I thought I had died and gone to hell. It was absolute mayhem all night. Lol.
Ah yes, I too discovered the delights of a long weekend with maybe 10hrs sleep over 3 days when I went to the Bol D'Or 24hr in 1996. The French love their endurance racing but are completely nuts - sleeping is for losers apparently 😂
I agree about festivals being great to meet interesting people, but you have to rough it a bit with noise at all hours and rasping snorers keeping you awake 😀 Nice to see the Himalayan on the road again though. Been some really good weather for it.
Thanks for doing this video Sandy, looks like an old school bike rally. Not sure it's my cup of tea though, my preference is a peaceful sheep farm in the Shropshire hills within walking distance of local pubs & shops ;) You were lucky with the weather though, I think the dragon rally is normally a test of endurance in freezing wet conditions! Top marks for giving it a go :)
Fantastic, I holidayed in NWales 6 years in a row when i was in my 20s. I'll never forget driving my MG on that mountain road you show at the out-tro. Hope to see you return for some wild camping, Angelsey beaches are amazing, thanks for uploading.
Hi Sandy, that’s what life is all about, meeting up with friends & sharing like minded interests & hobbies, whether it’s motor cycles, walking,or push bikes etc, great video thankyou, atb Colin P.
Hi Sandy another great video . Nice to see Charlie making an appearance. l love an M Z and hate loud music maybe a side effect of the A N , all the best .
I enjoyed the vid Sandy and I'm glad that you enjoyed most of the rally. To be honest you were pampered this year. The site wasn't flooded, you didn't have high wind and horizontal rain and best of all you had a huge area under cover. Not a normal for the Dragon. It is a super friendly rally, but I think a lot of that is because of the adversity normally experienced.
Nice one Sandy 👍Remember doing the Dragon way back in the late 70's. Arrived late due to a detour as I had to tow my mate and his 850 Commando to a bike shop in Coventry to fix his broken primary chain. Finally got there in driving snow and freezing cold avoiding numerous sheep wandering in the Welsh B roads. A rally to remember for sure👍. Happy days 🤘😀ATVB from sunny Malaysia
@@WiltshireMan it's been nudging 40C out here recently, too hot to go out and when it starts to cool down late afternoon, the thunderstorms and heavy rain start !
What a wonderfully shot and produced video. You have a good bunch of close mates and their mates. As for the nobs bouncing their bikes off the rev limiters at 1.30am, what is the matter with people? Morons. Anyhow Sandy you are looking very well, very trim. Must be all that cycling you are doing! Looking forward to another of your woodland camps. ATB.
Nice video. I was a bit disappointed I wasn't going when you let slip in last video you were doing the dragon. I've done 20ish Dragons since 2000, 15 on my ex army Armstrong MT500. Haven't done it the last 2 years as we've done Bruce Pollard Memorial Rally the night before the Dragon and ended up staying there for the weekend, maybe next year. It's great to see and talk to people, many that we only see once at year at the Bruce Pollard/Dragon and always a huge variety of bikes .
Haven’t done the dragon,,new to big bikes . Had scooters for 35 years and went on all the rally’s ect I know what you mean ,when the music is too loud, been there done it ,I’m a lone rider now because I prefer my own company,. Stop,drink,eat,sleep,wake-up when I want.and that’s the way I like it right now.nice little vlog all the best -Neil.
I always liked going on those runs like the dragon rally , I always had a great time. It's nice meeting the people. Some can be pretty wild but it's always great fun. Dwayne
Sandy if there should be any encouragement.. It's time I got the Himalaya out.. as for whether salt or not, days are warmer..!! To whom you were meeting of everyone, good to see Charlie got there, watch now for her upload. Great that everyone survived the night. Stay safe.. Cheers.. 🤠
Hi Dewi I always wash my bike then dry it with a motorcycle drier and finally give it a quick spray over with GT85 or similar and I will do that after every ride if there is the slightest hint of salt on the bike. I doesn't take longer than 5 or 10 minutes and a can of GT85 costs around 2 quid and lasts for atleast 10 reapplications. My bike is still pristine after more than 3 years of all weather riding
@@WiltshireMan Ah.. I've all but the drier..! know those that use leaf blowers on cars, heard of pet drier used .. if need must.. Hey Ho.. I always have GT85 on hand, one in the Bike storage, another my Tool shop.. I keep an eye on them at descent Price or at J&S Acc.. it's reasonable price as you've mentioned. Springs round the corner and hoping a wonderful Summer.. here to a Blessed and Safe Riding season ahead. Cheers.. Dewi 🤠 ..
Looked like an interesting trip. Just like you, I think that the noise level in the building would drive me out, but meeting new folks would be great. As an excuse to get the bike out and do some camping as well as meet new like minded folks it could be an interesting time.
Hi Lonnie, at heart I wouldn't describe myself as a "Biker" but as someone who can appreciate a motorcycle and it's aesthetics and as a mode of transport and sense of freedom it gives. A lot of the folk here however are "Bikers" and mostly a good sort. I see the motorcycle more as a tool :)
Sandy , I thoroughly enjoy your videos!! So nice to see bikes of all types and sizes at the ralley. Looks much more interesting than a parking lot full of mammoth "V Twins" Currently I'm thinking new bikes at dealerships should all be laying flat on their sides. A customer must be able to stand the bike upright, contingent on purchase. The true joy is still where it all began. Thanks again my friend. Highs 40F--- lows mid 20'sF . The Himalayan is still in hibernation .
Hi Bob I think the ability to pick the bike up should it fall has to be a priority, so many of the big bikes are just too heavy and that applies to my Vstrom. I would struggle to pick it up. I ride the Himi mostly these days
Thanks for this!! We spent most of Saturday serving soup and bread rolls (chicken or veg?) at the rally 😅 It was great meeting you all , from all corners and with a range of accents. Lovely to be able to share the journey with you! See you next year at some as yet unnamed destination 😊
Viaduct or Aqueduct ? btw, I went to the second ever Dragon rally in the castle back then. Sandy, Its cheating staying in a motel, the idea is to face the cold snow and the rain on the trip and sleep rough in a tent.
I'm with you on the unnecessarily loud music, I don't why DJs and bands think if the walls aren't vibrating it's no good. Another thing I noticed is no tables or chairs!! Are the Welsh familiar with the concept of furniture at all?? Come on lads somewhere to sit surely wouldn't be asking too much.

It was a navigation related incident. Mum's the word.
