      Funny that you still haven't realized that the cop's little daughter is Molly, the cop from the first season, and of course, her father in this series is still young.

    "But it's the WAY you're unfriendly. Like you're the one doing _me_ a favor." Mike has some AMAZING dialogue.

    I love Mike's line about how unfriendly but in a polite way Minnesotans are. Complete with the accent drop on "favor" which suggests his affable persona is all a put on.

    If you want to see a TV series that takes cinematography to a whole other level, you should watch Hannibal.

      Hannibal would blow his mind!! If he ever reacts to it, I'm going to be more hyped than anything else that he ever did. Love that show in every single aspect. It's a short masterpiece, but as delectful as anything else.

    I well up every time Lou says “you’re dancing with the wrong girl”. Reminds me of my father ( also a Vietnam vet/Green Beret). No matter the odds I never saw him back down. Great job of these!

    The "ball of light"...Noah Hawley (show runner) draws from *many* influences and weaves them together into a beautiful tapestry. The UFO is primarily from the film The Man Who Wasn't There but more importantly: the old Twilight Zone ep The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. And Hanzee is their agent of chaos who can see them back - demonstrated in the very David Lynch moment with him outside the diner when he "changes".

  • @cavalryscout9519

    That "ball of light" in the first episode is because the US in the late 1970s was obsessed with UFOs. In episode 2 they show a mylar balloon hung up in the trees about where that light was, and those balloons were one of the common things that got mistaken for UFOs. Adding in the Reagan cameos and little UFO easter eggs (they are all over this season) is one of the things which helps to establish the zeitgeist of the time.

    This is a great series. One thing I always note with period piece shows... every single car is pristine and shiny. There are no "lived in" every day vehicles, with dirt, dents and scratches, because they're either restored or kept I pristine conditions.

    Here's a great comedy-genred book about aliens. From Wiki: "Little Green Men is a satirical novel by Christopher Buckley, first published in 1999. The novel follows a ... talk-show host whose career and life is altered forever when he is abducted by aliens."

  • @EliChristman
    @EliChristman 2 года назад +2

    It's funny how many small nods to aliens there are in this movie, whether it's an image above the key chain holder in a a gas station (upcoming episode) or even in this video you uploaded at 8:20 ... Skip's dialogue.

    The "UFO" was weird to me, too. But then I saw their film "The Man Who Wasn't There" and they use it there so I guess it's part of their imagery, they just don't pull it out as much.

    For me, the best alien movie is 1979 French comedy "The Gendarme and the Extra-Terrestrials", starring famous French comedy actor Louis de Funès. It's the 5th of LdF' 6-part Gendarme series. 😅

    Watching and getting more interested in this. I loved your reaction to Dr Strangelove a few weeks ago. I highly recommend another film that came out that same year by the same studio. The movie is Fail Safe and it gets unfairly overlooked. It had the same story line as Strangelove but was more of a cold war thriller. It stars Henry Fonda, Walter Matthau and Larry Hagman. Directed by the great Sidney Lumet (12 Angry Men).

    So I heard you mention doctor doom in another video.. and it sounded like your a fan.. I wanted you to know that fox had hired the writer of Fargo/Legion.. series's?. To write a solo doctor doom series.. screenplay was finished and then most likely scraped as a result of the Disney/marvel contract rights being bought back for MCU. You could hold the power to rally your patrion followers to convince Disney± to put the project back in production...please please... For me! Lol...🤞

    i agree the typewriter guy is like lester and they both fall into death be it a gritty grave or an icy lake. The fact they did this so early in the season suggests to me the writers wanted to show that just because its another fargo story it is'nt going to be a season 1 duplicate. btw thanks james your content always makes me feel even more passionate about tv and film!
