Feels like David Fincher type color grading
spot on
100%, like Zodiac or something.
Funny to think that Tuco is currently in the same jail cell as skinny pete
We need another spin-off of that
Something tells me tuco gets half skinny petes commissary

You don't want to piss off the cartel.
I was SO happy when I saw Hank and Gomez, it feels like this is the part where the show really feels like it’s getting linked to Breaking Bad
Gus being willing to spend so much money to get what he wants is something that not many would do. What drug lord would willingly give up hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to not raise suspicion with a rival gang? His focus on his end goal and what it takes to achieve it is pretty remarkable.
I didn't think I would get emotional seeing Hank again
Barry Corbin is the guy Kim squares off with in the desert. He’s at the end of No Country for Old Men, Whitey from One Tree Hill, and the Undertaker in Killers of the Flower Moon.
Not to mention 5 years or so on TV as one of the best parts of Northern Exposure
He was all over the 80s movies.. most notably he played the general in Wargames.
Damn, so he was the one who killed the Moon Flower? Then I'm glad Kimmy and Jim conned him and took his house from him.
Also the Red Alert games and in the classic movie WarGames!
The ice cream kind of depicts Jimmy's life which goes downhill by the day. The ants take over and "corrupt" it, idk how to better explain it but I'm sure there's a better explanation if you search it up
I was thinking the same. To elaborate further though, I see it as Jimmy sacrificing the sweet things in his life like his relationship with Kim and whatever reputation he has left (represented by the ice cream) in exchange for the benefits of working with the cartel (represented by the ants). Seeing the ice cream being swarmed and devoured by the ants is probably not a good sign for jimmy, as he's already made his decision.
13:40 I love seeing everyone immediately recognize that gut.
Think of the Ice Cream Cone as Jimmy/Jimmy’s “innocence” and the ants as the cartel. 😉
That scene reminded me of something similar at the beginning of "The Wild Bunch". Instead of ice cream, there is a scorpion being attacked by a horde of ants. The scorpion is associated with the wild bunch in the same way that the ice cream is associated with Jimmy.
Saved me some typing
Damn this show is amazing 😁
8:54
"Gramps, where you goin'!?" 🤣🤣🤣
You know... I came up through a few different hoods in this country and I've never in my life seen a group of young cats just gang up on an old head like that unprovoked. On other young people, sure. But that scene is the type of imagery I imagine people who have never once been to the hood just think is an everyday experience or something in every hood.
This scene also gives me like a back in the day "greaser", hooligan vibe. Like, wtaf!? 🤣
fr it feels like the writer was envisioning the hood as riften from skyrim
Fr, it was goofy as hell. I see that kinda sentiment in shows and movies all the time, and then my grandparents who live in the suburbs and spend all day just watching tv totally buy into that.
This is legitimately every Yakuza substory fight in a nutshell, funny as hell every time.
I thought I was the only one who had that reaction. The "You got 20 bucks you could lend me?" felt so...suburban white kid lmao. It's not a huge deal, but these Batman Arkham style thugs just make me laugh
The final scene, Jimmy and Kim sharing beers and a cigarette on the balcony, from when Kim pulls up in the parking lot to the end... No a single word. But so much is happening. And we know. One of the best scenes in the series. Brilliant. Endless love and respect to all things BCS.
Lalo is the typical spectacular character that the director of a series unfortunately discovers when the show is already ending. He would be the best Breaking Bad villain if he had appeared in that universe before.
@@davidciso true. Gus just viewed Walt as a hot head that was in over his head. Lalo on the other hand was a direct equal foe. If he wasn’t working alone at the end he would have easily beat Gus.
@@jeremys410 I mean maybe he should not have worked alone? He had many opportunities to get backup from the cartel.
@@kayden2119A consistent theme of the Brba universe is that hubris is often the downfall of powerful people .
I love the evolution of that balcony scene. Kim is fixated on that bottle on the edge at first, but eventually just tosses the bottle right over, consequences be damned. It's very telling about what lies under the surface that Jimmy helps bring out of her.
"'scuse me!" said Hank, as he barged into the jail, into the scene, and back into our hearts!
Mr. Acker is played by Barry Corbin. He is most known for Wargames and Northern Exposer
20:36 Was it intentional to say that "when kim is given an A or a B option she always *C:s* her way out of it"? Crazy wordplay lol
Right lol. You never heard that one before? When I was in school, people said that shit all the time. Like you hear 2 people talking shit about you, and when you try to interject, they hit you with the "This is an A and B conversation, and you need to C your way out of it."
Drove me up the fucking wall, but a classic line nonetheless.
Seeing Hank and Gomez return to this world is great to see. It’s also amazing to see how Crazy-8 became an informant for the DEA and finding out Saul Goodman was there to help that whole aspect happen. Great reaction James, I hope you’re doing well. Have a great day and take care!
Michael Mando as Nacho and Jonathan Banks as Mike embody their characters perfectly. We have empathy for them regardless of the world they inhabit, because their acting really gives us a glimpse into their sensitive, vulnerable side. Obviously the rest are amazing but these two just stand out for me 👏
Senior Varga is such a good man, and seeing Nacho trying to keep his dad safe while losing his dad's respect is so heartbreaking.
"Mr. Acker" was one of the main characters on "Northern Exposure. Former Astronaut, and business tycoon who is one of a few peculiar characters in the rugged town of "Cicely, Alaska".
You would love to watch that show.
Northern Exposure was a killer show.
I read this somewhere, but the conversation between Nacho and his father could be its own standalone short film.
Yup. The casting, like everything else in this show, is unparalleled. Acker is legend.
I wish the advertising kept Hank a surprise. He was all over the marketing for Season 5.
I remember being a surprise for me at least
I really appreciate how you see Kim. She is one of THE BEST written characters ever. Her current actions and choices reveal a whole story about her and where she came from. And yes, she is powerful. ❤
I agree, they could not have picked a better actor to play Mr. Acker than Barry Corbin. Still just as stubborn, and set in his ways, as he was playing Maurice Minnifield in Northern Exposure and I love it.
Fucking awesome you recognized Hank from his belly
Mr Acker is the the Colonel from War Games.
Hank, the homie! So great to see him again.
In breaking bad when Walter and Jesse kidnapped Saul and brought them out to the desert, Saul was pleading “ did Lalo sent you?”
Captain America interacting with Batman would actually be insane to see
I just finished the series yesterday… so good! ❤
The ice cream is my favorite metaphor, I think the ice cream is Jimmy’s unique service and the ants is the cartel who will abuse it
Another comparison related to Jesse are the parents. Both Jesse’s parents and Nacho’s father are estranged from their sons.
I internalized the ants and the ice cream as something that was once pure (Jimmy) being corrupted to serve a pest (Lalo).
It’s only getting better James
"this is a short film in and of itself ... but its just the intro' .. excellent. and valid. love that lol. great reaction as always. I so love these shows.
Can't wait for the rest of this season, what a ride! I've been loving the reactions, thank you James!!
Hold up... If Krazy 8 became an informant for Hank in this episode...
Does that mean he was the one who ratted and got his cousin arrested in the first episode of Breaking Bad?
And then blamed Jesse LMAO. Maybe they both would've survived breaking bad if not for that
They say he was an informant in Breaking Bad, after the DEA find his car abandoned in season 1.
Yes. Hank explicitly said so in Breaking Bad.
Whoops, my bad. Forgot that detail. 😅
Craziest thing about Hank coming back (and other actors too, but specifically him) is that his actor has to forget the season 2-5 development Hank had, and play the early season 1, 2008 era Hank. The cocky, obnoxious and slightly offensive macho man, who is out there busting small time dealers and showing off.
The man is BACK
Man these last two seasons are insane. Seeing this BCS world meld into BB world is awesome. I love how all six seasons get closer and closer to that each season until we are literally all caught up. In my opinion these last two seasons of BCS are the best this universe has to offer. So good.
Be sure to look at the number of the mailbox pole! 🙂
That's a groovy shirt, James.
After you done with Better Call Saul , you should react to The Shield on FX networks or Justified.
11:07 that shot reminds me of Wendy's hotel room in BrBa a bit
I'm glad they don't overuse Hank, the mainstay characters from Br Ba actually get so much development in BCS (Gus, Saul, Mike, Hector)...
LALO rules 😂
In BB, we saw how fear left Saul's body as soon as he learned Jesse and Walt were not associated with Lalo. 13:18 we see the opposite situation where fear entered Domingo's body as soon as he learned Saul was associated with Lalo.
I RECOGNIZE THAT GUT FROM ANYWHERE
14:17 bro put an empty mag into a gun locker, you can see the follower + the sound it made when he put the mag down
You really think it's nice that they're smashing bottles in the parking lot? It's nice that multiple people will need to buy new tires? That scene disgusts me. Kim and Saul are disgusting, selfish people.
The old man was well cast with Corbin but deserves zero sympathy from Kim after the way he attacked her.
IMO, he will always be Jimmy as long as Kim is around.
If it was US beer throwing it to the ground was the best thing to do.😂
Question? Did you perform the exit ? Love it ! Purple jacket full of weed ?❤
Just saw Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr are going to be in a broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross. Have you seen the 1992 movie? Hope you consider checking it out for your channel
I always said that the old man looks like a white judge joe brown
Man this guy is good bt seriously u miss majority of the stuff by talking in crucial moments. I don't know u realise later missed parts during editing.
Bro….I just can’t wait until it happens. And then happens again…..and again……and again. Your face is gonna melt off. Right now, believe it or not, the series is at a 6. Before you know it, it’ll turn up to 11 and hold you by the neck until the end.
WELL, WELL, WELL.

Much love!
I like your shirt.

STOP COMPARING EVERY SINGLE THING TO FARGO.
Again.. this show should've been racking up Emmys every year. It's so much better than 95% of other tv shows. Cinematography, writing, acting, editing, scoring.. it's all top level. Every episode is a master class in filmmaking.
