Knitting machines were invented in 1589. I think our ancestors would be impressed with how much smaller and streamlined we’ve made them. But they wouldn’t have been surprised that they exist. 🤓💕
@cassandra The home knitting machines became really popular in the 1970s. There were the expensive ones, but also one called (I think) the Incredible Sweater Machine. I've always wanted one.
Yes, knitting it's faster with knitting machine but it's more satisfying with your own hands. I still remember my first cap that I knitted with my grandma, who's the one that taught me. I was so proud that I made something with my hands. RIP granny, I miss you 🕊️
IDK I'd rather use the machine because then at least products would get done instead of having a bunch of half finished projects 🥲. Also it would hurt my hands less.
I have been a machine knitter for 20 years and I have made all my sweaters on my machines. I have designed them on pen and paper with my hands, I have operated the machine with my hands, touched the fabric and manipulated the stitches as I shape each garment piece and twisted cables. I have blocked the pieces with my hands, seamed them together with my hands. I definitely have handmade all of them.
hey, least you can make cables, lace, and more intricate colorwork! theres also faster knitting methods than english style (just assuming thats what you use as its the most common). if you’d want to try to increase your speed you can try other styles, like continental or lever, though those don’t match the speed of machines.
I started to get a crochet flow once and went really fast, I actually wondered if there were contests because that shift made me feel like a machine. Cool to know there are!
@@gotchacity1033yeah but that just makes sewing easier and efficient, you still have to work hard and make Dravidian’s on how to see it. With this you just pull something back and forth.

I still crochet after not doing it for a while and honestly i regret not doing it. It’s very fun and gives you something to keep you busy, and on top of that you can watch tv while making what you want to make
I think knitting the old way is relaxing for me and for the knitting machine is about having fun. I don't really knit but I would like to actually try it one day 😂
Knitting machines have been around a loong time, when I started crocheting my mom told me "oh that's amazing, you're continuing what your ancestors did" and told me a bunch of stories about iur family. Turns out my great grandfather and grandmother actually made a living out of knitting various clothing items on a machine!
I use to be able to knit but i forgot it when my grandma left. But she also thought me how to crochet and i re-learned that. Crocheting and knitting just distracts you as you still have to pay attention but its not like you need to be watching every second.
I am more of a machine knitter but I enjoy hand knitting as well. Not everything is fast on a knitting machine, contrary to popular belief. Both are equally creative and fun so no need to compare really. You can make the same and unique fabrics with both versions of the craft.
It's funny because in my case it's the opposite: both my grandma's used their machine to death and immy noodle arms are too weak for the big bad chariot
That’s cool and all but I prefer hand knitting because I love to knit in so many places! One of my faves is a local mountain with awesome wild and plant life! It’s so peaceful. ☺️
What used to be a chore has become therapeutic. I understand the need for time cutting gadgets but, imo,it’s like something essential is lost in that process. But good for you and your ingenuity! 🤣😂🤣😂
People who are saying this isn't real knitting are probably mad that sewing machines exist. The biggest point of crafting is for fun or relaxation ❤ if a nifty tool like this makes it more fun for you, there is no shame in using it! Also, it makes me think of my granny. She loves knitting but her joints got so bad she had to stop. She loved making gifts for friends and family, and woild love something like this. If you love knitting every stitch by hand, please continue doing what you love ❤ but please don't hate on others for enjoying it the way they preffer. Life is too short to be "knit" picky 😝 ALSO! As a little edit, I looked around her other videos to see what sort of crafts she gets up too and yes, she is quite talented and does hand knit some lovely items amongst other cool crafts! I imagine this tool really comes in handy for huge projects like blankets ❤
Oh and using a sewing machine still takes skill and precision to get things correct and nice. Using a knitting machine takes no skill or practice other than spending ten minutes to learn to use it. So I wouldn’t say it’s knitted but it technically is

I feel like either way is so fun! I like crocheting and knitting because it takes my hands and mind off of things and is fun.
Absolutely agreed ❤ I still prefer knitting / crocheting by hand but this lets my injury rest and let’s me get stuff done faster 🎉
I see now!
Same!
I'm a Double Needle Gal. I haven't tried the machine. Maybe,... Someday...
I agree. I just started crocheting and i don't have time for useless thoughts anymore 😂😂😂 i do over crochet instead of overthinking now

ancestors from 1588:😧😧
Woah
Actually, not even I knew knitting machines existed, so it can be possible that those ancestors were unaware as well.

Knitting machines are older than sewing machines, so this ancestor of yours is from the early 16th century 😊
The hand machine is older B)
@Carmiineh And they never go out of production! XD

Those family heirloom dinosaur earrings are beautiful. It was so sweet of your ancestor to leave them to you! 😂😂

As a knitter it feels like that all my effort of one day could be equal to your one swoosh!😫🤚🏻 but slay 💅💅🎀
Oui ! C'est super long personnellement c'est la raison pour laquelle je préfère faire du crochet
Don't need to feel like that, some of these machines still doesn't make some knitting styles like by hand.

Yeah machine knitting feels wrong, especially when people default to it or claim they've put in the same amount of effort as a hand knitter.
