  • How to make a large cement pot at home? #cementpot #cementplanter #concreteplanter
    It is simple and easy to make large cement pots / planters at home. In this video, I made a 14" wide cement pot using a water tub. For the concrete mix, I used sand (1.5 parts), marble powder (0.5 parts) and cement (1 part). White marble power (also known as jeera) gives extra strength to your concrete planter. Making cement pots at home is fun and gives more satisfaction than purchasing a planter from the market. I suggest you to use gloves to avoid any cement burns during the making process. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You make it look so easy! Also, thanks for the tip about marble powder. I did not know that it strengthens the cement; and, I use it to mix my own gesso for painting. Now I really can justify buying it in bulk. ☺️

    Beautiful work,but how does your skin feel after working with cement? My hands were peeling.😵

    • @PlanterDays
      @PlanterDays  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Evie, thanks for your comment. The skin feels normal because I apply oil (mustard oil) on my hands before working with cement. Secondly the concrete mix that I use is not soggy. I suggest you to apply a lot of oil on your hands if you wish to work with cement barehanded (without gloves). I got minor burns once I was working with a soggy mix. Cheers.

    Would white cement instead of grey cement , along with marble dust and sand be as strong? Also if I were to paint the outer side what paint would I need to use?

    • @PlanterDays
      @PlanterDays  5 лет назад

      White cement is not as strong as regular cement. You can do 1 coat of cement primer and 1 coat of emulsion paint. You can check my latest video (small cement pot) for details regarding paint / primer.

    What is the ratio of cement and sand if im not adding marble powder ? Thanks.

    • @PlanterDays
      @PlanterDays  5 лет назад +2

      2 parts sand, 1 part cement. The planters that they sell in the market have 4-5 parts sand and 1 part cement and that is why they don't last long. 2:1 should be the ratio for a robust planter.
