Good job! i'm on a search for ideas for a stand for my minipc that can incorporate a large quiet fan. the temps have gone up significantly since it's hot outside and i'd like too cool it down and still keep it quiet. something like your build but with an extra big fan on the side that blows air at it all the time is the goal.

Could you have kept the sides of the original case (the entire perimeter is one piece of metal, right?) and fitted the acrylic pieces into it in place of the original top and bottom surfaces?
Yeah I probably could have made a plan to re-use it. The metal enclosure is a single part though, so the overlap on the top (with the logos on it) would have to stay as well, unless I cut it away with a Dremel.

Nice but that's only cosmetic and doesn't solve the main problem of this PC which is the fan constantly pulsating on/off, and not powerful enough to adjust the power to 35W in the bios like it should. Needs a beefier fan imo.
Any chance making your case cutout designs available in the blog post, or available to commission building it to order? I'd pay for your time even just for the design file so i could commission the fabrication elsewhere

NO- you're BETTER OFF to TRASH windows and INSTALL LINUX.. on ANYTHING... then NEVER LOOK BACK. CAn a 2 T SSD (2 1/2 inch internal) drive be added? I use a small SSD for my operating system now- with a large STANDARD 2T drive for DATA (storage and everything) to keep it separate from the operatind system- so if it goes bad- I don't lose anything but the OS- which I can always reinstall later. CAN the drives it USES be changed in order-- in other words to use the 2T MVME drive for storage and the SSD for OS???? GREAT VIDEO- and I LOVE the finished clear look.. so neat.

looks good! maybe you should consider putting it into production :D but using screws instead of glues would work better.
Also good that you have a larger hole / vent for the PC's cooler to take in cool air as an intake.
With the acrylic case, the front of the mini PC reminds me of the turrets from Portal

How strong is the smell while cutting the matterial with the laser? Hands down, I prefer your case design!
The laser is enclosed and has a ventilation fan which is ducted outside, so there is very little smell in the room.
Beautiful clear case, definitely way better than the original. Some light and the cool design make the whole mini PC awesome!

It's a K40 laser, they're relatively basic and cheap (as far as laser cutters go). I think my one was around $350 when I bought it.

Not at the moment, some sort of USB-C graphics accelerator or external GPU would be great.
