These mini PCs are absolutely fantastic for general and productivity users. I've been recommending them to a lot of people -- basically, anyone who isn't a gamer -- and even got one for a family member earlier this year. Relatively cheap, more than adequately powerful, upgradable, very compact, and power efficient. What's not to like?
I cautiously bought a Beelink unit, figuring at the cost there isnt much to lose. Fast forward and i have 6 Beelink mini's, of various models, never had a single issue with any of them, and now slowly replacing my office PCs with Beelink minis. Love these things, especially on sale, which happens quite often. The older models are absolute bargains
Dude, after several attempts with other minipc's, this is the one I settled on for my retro emulation station. It is flawlessly running everything from Atari up through PS2. I'm happy with this one. And you hit on all the other stuff... great build quality, packaging, etc. This is the way.

I bought one of these from Amazon about 3 weeks ago and it's probably the best investment in a pc I've made in a long time. The only thing I changed was the m.2 from an Intel m.2 to a Samsung 980Pro m.2 I think the Crucial memory is adequate is it seems to run very smoothly. The installed Windows 11Pro is great too. It's kind of an overkill for what I'm currently using it for and that is it is plugged into my Samsung 40" flat panel. I needed a way to get a browser that works on the internet and so I could watch television programs from Comcast X1 connection. I have a X1 in my living room, but because Comcast doesn't support 2017 Samsung TV any longer with streaming TV, I was forced into this configuration. It works for me. But I do use this pc for other things too. Gaming to a small degree, but may get something for that later on.
Great video! I got the Beelink SER5 Mini PC, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H. Its been amazing (I also have a top of the line gaming desktop). This SER 5 is able to run game like FIFA 21 @1080P 60FPS with no issues for me. Its no match for my real PC but it puts up an amazing fight for the price!! I also like how it can be upgraded.
I bought an SER5. It ran at 90deg unless I put the fans on 100% full. Even then, it would randomly just turn off. No warning, no glitches just all of a sudden black screen and it's powered off. Returned it.
I continue to be impressed with this miniPC. Never misses a beat, very stable and just works. If I want more power, I can plug my phone in, run DeX, and Tha immediately gives me access to image editing with Snapseed, and even 4k video editing, with a decent monitor, mouse and keyboard, with Lumafusion. This works so well I'm seriously considering deferring buying an AMD APU based miniPC until the next generation.
Anyone using these mini PC’s for music production? Some of the popular mini’s are getting used for gaming, and a PC good for gaming tends to work well for audio production. I love the absence of bloatware.
I got sick of the noise my previous laptops fans made and moved to a Mele Quieter 3C. For everyday and office use, it absolutely rocks. Uses about 2W when running, up to 10W max, is totally silent, is faster than my old XPS13, has a great selection of ports and makes the SER 5 look huge. These mini PCs are already awesome, and are rapidly going to get better. It is a shame that most people don't know about them, but the margins are not large enough for retailers to sell these.
As long as you aren't doing anything graphically intensive that causes the innards to undergo overheating, these mini pcs are fantastic. I bought one recently and im incredibly impressed.
Bought one of these SER5's last month and have been very happy with it. I'm not a gamer, just an old fart doing basic tasks plus some light photo editing, and I know if I'd set out to build another rig I'd have spent at least twice as much and never used half its capabilities. Hell, I likely would have spent at least this much on a GPU alone.
My experience with every laptop/mini pc vs desktop pc, the laptop based CPUs in these systems are just too laggy and slow and ran far too hot and loud for my liking, compared to desktop CPU based systems! Even when just using Chrome the fan would rev up and the window would stutter and take a noticeable while to be responsive. When I went back to a Ryzen 5 5600G system from a Ryzen 5 5500U system, the difference was night and day. I will never go back to them! My 5600g scored 11162 in Cinebench R23 compared to your 7942 5560U.
If you don't need mobility or do heavy work (4K video editing, AAA gaming, photo editing that needs every bit of 64GB of RAM, etc), mini pc is indeed a very good choice.
When you add a Monitor, battary and keybroad , a mini PC become a Laptop Compare a mini PC with desktop just like you compare a laptop wiht a desktop, as mini PC is use the latptop hardware install in a small box If you bought a PC then use it for several year wihtout upgrade need, Go for a mini PC, if you may have some upgrade need, you still need a full size desktop * just got my Beelink SER 5 from amazon last week for lab use
I'm thinking about getting a mini PC for my large screen TV mostly because it does not take up a lot of room. But for my main computer that I use everyday I prefer a desktop computer. You have more options for adding USB devices and adding things like RGB LED lights, etc. You have much more room to customize your PC as much as you like. With a mini PC you are looking at a small black box with one or two USB inputs and a connection for a monitor. For an office PC or to attach one to a TV a mini PC is a good choice, for a main PC for myself no way.

the cell tech is amazing, my last full size pc was 1200 DIY in 2010 (dual core AMD of 1.1 i think) and this rig runs circles around it . old pc power was a 350 watt monster that barely did the job. this thing cant go over 57 watts as thats what the power source is.
12:20 I dunno, we make fun of the RX 6400 but it would probably actually work really well in the HP here. Assuming that motherboard supports PCIE 4, if it doesn't then the 6400 is a terrible choice. The alternative would be the GTX 1650, which is also a low power card, depending on the model. One would want to make sure to get the version with GDDR6 memory (Marked G6, as opposed to G5) but if one does then that's a perfectly competent low-end graphics card that will absolutely smoke the IGP in that APU. In Norway those can be found for 100-150 USD used, and just over 200 new. Though the low profile variants are unfortunately much more expensive, and I don't know if that case supports full size expansion cards.

FYI, it comes with a VESA mount so you can drop it on the back of your monitor, no issues. I use it for my crypto trading rig, big fan of KISS. $340 makes this hard to beat for 16GB RAM and an R7 8c/16t :)

I'm genuinely surprised by the Ser5 MAX I purchased, I managed to get Skyrim AE Kiezaal Overhaul running at 49.9 to 51.3FPS. Vanilla Fallout 4 was running at 45FPS, but heavily dropped to 15 to 21FPS once I installed a lightweight overhaul like Welcome to Paradise. People are making fun of me for buying a mini PC, now they are telling me I am hardcore flexing because I show them how well this little mini PC performs.
I forgot to mention that the older games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I had no fps issues at all, even when I installed massive overhauls like Escape From Pripyat
For a low budget system, the off lease business models of these offer an extremely good value. For $100 you can get a well spec'ed system faster than todays budget desktops. Amazon is full of them.
Bro i love this pc, it struggles in Abode After Effects and thats literally the only thing ive found it to struggle with. Of course its not going to game, stream and multi task at the same time but its got a super strong cpu in it.
Heating on Mini PCs is still a big issue. I had a BMAX B6 Pro that died on me in less than three months. My fault for doing too much on it. 😅 Also a really hot summer and a random blackout that killed it. Also crappy components as it used a noname m2 SSD card and a i3 motherboard that was discontinued a few years ago. But they'll likely get better. I'm get a new one eventually on a local retailer because it makes it easier with warranty and such.
for some reason i use this one to connect to my tv as a monitor but the picture quality does not look as good like my old computer . not so sure if it is because of the build in graphic card or not .
What size is your tv? I have a 50in. but haven't had the guts to turn the Beelink on yet, lol. My brother thinks I'll have a smaller square screen but not full. I explained that this is supposed to be capable of what 2 or 3 monitors?

is the Beelink SER5 a good option for me to use for powering my huion kamvas 22 drawing tablet? Presently I am powering it with my HP 8g laptop but will need more RAM and at least 1 terabyte to learn this art skill.
Only problem is a lot of them aren't built to make it past a year (poor build quality). I really want a mini pc but I don't have the cash for a good mini pc. I have a good desktop pc with the added option of upgrading parts for the fraction of buying a new pc.
Too bad it has only 2 USB ports on the back. A mouse, keyboard and printer require you to be creative. Use a hub or a combined wireless keyboard and mouse with just one dongle. It’s amazing even Windows 11 Pro is included. It was 21H2, so I had to upgrade it too 22H2. SER5 is not the newest model, so Amazon gave a big € 90 voucher. Bringing the price down to € 379 for the 5500u model (16 Gb & 500 GB Kingston NVME).
1st Mini PC video That Was Actually Useful . . . Does the ser5 have dual channel ram and I want to watch 4K Movies From An External HardDrive And Connect The SER5 to my 4K projector will it play 4K movies without issue because my laptop will only play 1080p and below .
Ya don't do high performance gaming on these things, but let me tell you, as power cost increases across the country, you'd do literally everything else on it. Tempted to get one and stick my gaming GPU in an enclosure instead.
@@Kimberly-qb5zo I think a system might need Thunderbolt support, then you get yourself an eGPU enclosure. They aren't necessarily cheap either. But Minisforum B550 offers the ability to stick a discrete GPU and mini PC together.

in the case of HP, you shouldn't have wiped the default installation because most people wouldn't bother to honestly. And it's a much truer representation of the experience HP curates for you at that price point
Unless...you don't like what H.P. presents. Just saying a little can be a lot. I don't see anything wrong w/doing that at all. H.P. & the others should, at the least, add a simple uninstall.
If my computer broke, I think would buy a Raspberry pi or a second-hand computer off eBay. And spend the rest of the budget on a bigger screen. Although, with a desktop, shouldn't you still have the keyboard etc. from the computer you are replacing?
Is the Beelink usable for games like Trackmania NF and can handle 20 Chrome Tabs easily? Thinking about upgrading from a Levono with i5 7200U and 6 GB RAM + 2 GB for graphics ram
I'm watching this on an SER 5 Pro with the 5700U CPU. I've got Linux and Windows 11 running on it. It runs both fine. I've played Civ VI and Baldur's Gate 3 (although with Baldur's Gate 3, I had to bump the performance down a bit) and they're both playable. I wouldn't say it's a great gaming PC, but if you're only playing games occasionally, and keep your expectations reasonable, you can play the occasional game when the work day is done. :)
I got a Acer laptop with a i5-11400h with a 1650 video card for $500 Has the same performance as a Ryzen-5 5560u But the 4gb 6050 video can plays any AAA game. For $190 more it is mobile and play games. It plays Witcher 3 at 45 FPS in 1080p High Compared to Vega 7 of the Beelinks 30 FPS. If it has integrated graphics only then a cheaper Ryzen-3 will do the same job as a Ryzen-5 will do in any application. So a $200 Ryzen-3 5500U Beelink can do anything a $300 Ryzen-5 Beelink would

Can they do OpenSim? I was thinking about getting something to enable me to do that, but I want to make sure it's able to handle it before I do it.
@@jayrowe6473 sorry I don't use open sim and wouldn't know if its compatible.
FYI, it comes with a VESA mount so you can drop it on the back of your monitor, no issues.
I use it for my crypto trading rig, big fan of KISS. $340 makes this hard to beat for 16GB RAM and an R7 8c/16t :)
Got a BEAST OF A MINI PC in Minisforum UM690 6900hx , 32GB Ram DDR5, 1TB HardDrive .
I play games on this from NBA2K23 , Madden 23 , WWE2K22 ,and all the Warhammer games .
I do plan on buying a modest portable GPU to connect to it if I ever beccome a graphics snob but so far im pretty content and love it , it does play certain triple A games with no problem so far .
How's the temp?
My $1000 desktop died after only 2 years. I just bought this mini PC for less than $300 and it does what I need
Wish you had compared it to the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U Mini PC think it would have been even better?
How about overheating? How about long time leaving it on? Can it hold?
There's also called SER6Pro rn for Beelink (hope you can go for a review for it). But my question is are these mini pc can do live streaming (OBS, etc.)? Using Playstation and Nintendo Switch as my game preferences. Thanks
Only Thunderbolt missing for eGPU connection (ref. AMD vs. Intel)
For a low budget system, the off lease business models of these offer an extremely good value. For $100 you can get a well spec'ed system faster than todays budget desktops.
Amazon is full of them.
I have the B550 Elite mini pc from minisforum. It comes with a dock to connect a GPU. I have mine setup with a RX 6800XT.
how ram will the hp run
Awesome video, but I'm 90% sure a 1650/1050 ti will outperform the iGPU in the desktop, without requiring supplemental power
It's only gt1030 kinda perf
Bro i love this pc, it struggles in Abode After Effects and thats literally the only thing ive found it to struggle with. Of course its not going to game, stream and multi task at the same time but its got a super strong cpu in it.
Have you checked out ser 7 max?
Is it enough for day trading?
TIA
Nicely done perspective video.
Heating on Mini PCs is still a big issue. I had a BMAX B6 Pro that died on me in less than three months. My fault for doing too much on it. 😅
Also a really hot summer and a random blackout that killed it. Also crappy components as it used a noname m2 SSD card and a i3 motherboard that was discontinued a few years ago. But they'll likely get better.
I'm get a new one eventually on a local retailer because it makes it easier with warranty and such.
I bought this beelink close to $700 on sale, it is not cheap.
for some reason i use this one to connect to my tv as a monitor but the picture quality does not look as good like my old computer . not so sure if it is because of the build in graphic card or not .
What size is your tv? I have a 50in. but haven't had the guts to turn the Beelink on yet, lol. My brother thinks I'll have a smaller square screen but not full. I explained that this is supposed to be capable of what 2 or 3 monitors?
@@Kimberly-qb5zo i have a samsung 55in tv . as i know of as long as it is a smart tv they have the option for you to adjust the screen to fit your actual tv size without having a black screen around it . should be in setting or menu / picture / then looking for screen fit
I'm sorry to reply to you so late.
Maybe the TV is too big, update the graphics card driver. And adjust the picture quality to try.
is the Beelink SER5 a good option for me to use for powering my huion kamvas 22 drawing tablet? Presently I am powering it with my HP 8g laptop but will need more RAM and at least 1 terabyte to learn this art skill.
Only problem is a lot of them aren't built to make it past a year (poor build quality). I really want a mini pc but I don't have the cash for a good mini pc. I have a good desktop pc with the added option of upgrading parts for the fraction of buying a new pc.
I have this exact mini pc and u can play light games like Minecraft and games like that
Sweet, that's all I really need.
Minecraft is considered light??? What about 616 games if you know what that is?? 😅
Has anyone used a mini pc with something like a nexdock or Uperfect?
Nexdock works great with samsung dex but would love to know about this
Too bad it has only 2 USB ports on the back.
Will this PC run a 4K monitor?
Thanks for your review. I'm looking at the Beelink, but I'm wondering about using it for music production with a DAW, Cubase in my case?
Is that shit good for gamers?
does this run well with xbox 360 emulation
As long as you do not need a gaming PC. Mini PCs are the way to go.
Almost bought this, but I bought a used zbox en1060 instead yes while larger will crap on these vega graphics for around $200 used on eBay.
Ya don't do high performance gaming on these things, but let me tell you, as power cost increases across the country, you'd do literally everything else on it. Tempted to get one and stick my gaming GPU in an enclosure instead.
Interested. Likely over my head but how would you do that?
@@Kimberly-qb5zo I think a system might need Thunderbolt support, then you get yourself an eGPU enclosure. They aren't necessarily cheap either. But Minisforum B550 offers the ability to stick a discrete GPU and mini PC together.
I want to buy one but is it true they only last 2 to 3 years???
IDK, I'll let you know in 18 to 30 months. It would be impossible for anyone to know as the technology and components are only six months old.
Depends on the computer but actually has it can I actually have a standard size PC and a mini PC they both pretty much have the same specs in them and my mini PC runs better
i bought one of these mini PC. since it doesnt come with key board and mouse how do you get it up and running so you can add a mouse and keyboard?
Just plug in any mouse and keyboard, they are recognized in system BIOS.
I don't know yet but I'm hoping if I plug them in first that it'll recognize them...instantly?
I got a mini and love it.
in the case of HP, you shouldn't have wiped the default installation because most people wouldn't bother to honestly.
True
Shit looks even smaller than my pc's power supply 😂
Does the beelink work on wifi?
Yes, it has WiFi 6E.
Is the Beelink usable for games like Trackmania NF and can handle 20 Chrome Tabs easily? Thinking about upgrading from a Levono with i5 7200U and 6 GB RAM + 2 GB for graphics ram
my 2400g apu no gpu gets better fps in rocket league at 1080p same with fornite in performance mode 1080p i get 65 - 120fps
Honestly you can get Beelink 5600h system from their Aliexpres store for the same price..
Same price as?
Tell me you dye your beard without telling me you dye your beard
Bruh.... Grow up...
sorry, i got distraced by the doggo
Will it play movies, Netflix and so on?
I'm considering one of those--- soon.. I have some medical stuff to take care of (on SS) and then I'll get one-- and am researching..!!
Yes it does matter, so sorry about yours :C
They are loud and overheated for gaming and emulation. . Just returned mine. If its for basic office use, then I would buy a used micro pc from eBay.
Come on - rather take a Minisforum UM690 with a Ryzen 9 6900HX and Radeon 680M Graphics at $669 with 16GB RAM + 512 GB SSD
I have it. It is nice but for games it runs on low res. For 2d games it is fine but not 3D.
Steam anyone?
I got a Acer laptop with a i5-11400h with a 1650 video card for $500
Has the same performance as a Ryzen-5 5560u
But the 4gb 6050 video can plays any AAA game.
For $190 more it is mobile and play games.
It plays Witcher 3 at 45 FPS in 1080p High
Compared to Vega 7 of the Beelinks 30 FPS.
If it has integrated graphics only
then a cheaper Ryzen-3 will do the same job as a Ryzen-5 will do in any application.
So a $200 Ryzen-3 5500U Beelink can do anything a $300 Ryzen-5 Beelink would
Also, interesting. What would be their point in making them then, besides capitalism haha. Are you sure the other specs don't make the 3 slower?
No display port👎👎👎
Has to be hdmi. No vga.
You must have pretty big pockets.
You have to be careful with mini PCs....they are like Pringles...one is never enough and before you know it you'll have swarms of the little devils all over the place.
