I concur, and once you are subjected to eviction, it becomes far more challenging to secure a new apartment. Moreover, the existing difficulty of obtaining an apartment is compounded by the current state of inflation. The majority of individuals are unable to afford their current place of residence, let alone considering the possibility of relocating elsewhere. It is unfortunate that in contemporary times, when one experiences a fatal event. The world has the potential to abandon you, particularly in situations where you are not to blame. While I cannot engage in a debate with every individual in this discussion, I am certain that I would never desire to cause harm to a 14-year-old. However, when it concerns the safety of my own children, I am willing to take immediate action and talk about the situation afterwards, even though it may not be the most prudent decision. I would rather face imprisonment while safeguarding my children than allow anybody to inflict harm upon them. I am likewise perplexed by these laws. As citizens, we have the legal right to possess firearms and it is expected that we have the ability to safeguard our residences. Why is it that those who rightfully defend their houses are still need to undergo a trial, unless they have shot someone in the back? However, if you genuinely protect your family, the situation is separate from one another. There should not be any charges against you. It is possible for someone to unlawfully enter your residence, and if you take measures to save your family, you could perhaps face a lifetime imprisonment. If individuals of a different race than yours are involved, there may be others who manipulate the story and falsely claim that you shot them solely based on their racial background.

No, she should sue the apartment complex for not acting on her reports and properly securing the complex. This kid's parent was not responsible for the crime committed. Parent's can't be with their children 24/7 at some point they have to be responsible for their own choices. Holding the parent responsible only protects the kid from accountability.

It was a time where if your loved one harmed innocent ppl they were scolded by everyone. Today the criminal is protected. The parents probably have thought of suing the mother especially with money she's rightfully received. So I really pray this mother stops future interviews. And she shouldn't be!! I hate that she was even worried that she WOULD be charged! Stevie Wonder could see this was an open and shut case! If you try to climb in the window of a home you don't live in and you get shot OH WELL! YOUR FAULT!! It's a shame that this woman was kept in limbo for so long! I wouldn't have lost a wink of sleep and would have taken 5 vacations by now had I been in that situation! Forget that kid and the parents who clearly did a poor job of raising him! I hope this woman can move on with her life now! And she needs to sue the Housing Authority as well for kicking her out when all she did was protect herself and her daughter!

They added that info as the apt complex tried to evict her after the shooting because you aren't supposed to have a firearm in the federally subsidized complex. Why no firearms allowed is beyond me; subsidized or not, she has the right to own a gun to protect her home.

It is so very sad that an Older Child was putting the lives of Other Children in danger trying to be a criminal. But a Mother who is forced to protect her Children has to do just that. She did not want to kill anyone, but she had to remove the threat with little options in the presence of immediate danger. I am glad she and her Children survived but sorry she had to experience that in the 1st place.

Even if the woman knew the intruder was a 14 year old, still makes no difference. You should already know the consequences of committing burglary. Also, if anything bad happens to you because you’re out late at night doing bad things, thats all on you…especially if you’re under the age of 18, given that you’re not supposed to be out in the late hour and the mother of that teen burglar knows better. There is absolutely no good reason for an individual under the age of 18 to be out in the after hours.
