  • I have now tested the little KAT Sport 330 from Boatworld initially using my Tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke. I fear out of the box this boat has some issues and needs a little fettling.

These cat’s work better with a long shaft and to ad a kick plate to raise the transom as the transom with a short shaft is a inch inch and a half to small

Nice video. I think the True Kit Discovery range are great cats that can compete with a decent SIB, but importing them from New Zealand is tremendously expensive.

Thanks for your kind comments it is a lovely campsite and the owner is very friendly. The slip is small but easy to use just keep an eye on the tides as there is a low ish bit as you leave the river

Interesting that you found the engine to be too high in the water. The tohatsu m9.8 2 stroke actually has a a longer shaft at approx 17 inches despite being listed as a SS! I have the takacat 380 with the newer lowered transom and the same engine as you! I find the engine maybe a touch low now!

I just brought the same boat and I fitted a kick plate on the back that can raise the transom up to 5inches raised mine 2. Inches and works loads better get 16mph with 5hp 4 stroke mercury with a long shaft these boats glide across the water with the front up so more prop in the water is better iv found.only managed to get 11mph with a short shaft trimmed

“10” 🤣🤣. Shame they’re not quite as good as they look to be honest. Hopefully you can provide valuable feedback to boatworld so they can tweak them as I feel they have potential nonetheless. By the way how do you rate Redcliffe Farm? It looks surprisingly not busy with it being the summer holidays…

Yes I will go back to boatworld. We think Redcliffe is excellent a real hidden gem in our view
