- Te Tai Tokerau's Summer Johnson is the go-to wāhine for neglected and abandoned dogs with her volunteer organisation Bay of Islands Animal Rescue. The dogs have helped her through her depression. Fellow volunteer Diana Thompson, and Kawakawa Vet Clinic assist with the animals.

I've volunteered in the past at my local spca & I donate when I can as these hero's do so much for these beautiful creatures & in the end they just want to be loved like we all do. I'm an animal lover & being surrounded by them gives me so much joy & peace, its healing & its powerful this "Wahine Toa is such an inspiration she is one of the true hero's out here fighting the good fight & I have nothing but admiration & respect! Amen!Amen so agree bout the personality and temperament who cannot LOVE their ANIMALS.
There most beautiful creations to have they do become your family.
Yes had animals past and now presents and when you grow up with LOVE you will love your pets more and more and spoil them.
I agree bout😮 chained up dogs it's cruel and heart breaking.
At lease when animals past away they don't have to prove themselves to get into HEAVEN.

I have a similar issue with animals that lived in neglect or cruelty or disregard I think about them a lot but when I think about the people who held them in those ways I get angry, Im not an angry person I believe but especially with animal cruelty I feel rage at people concerned
