@@LaToyaEbonyHair Love your videos! You stated that another person's right way is not necessary your right way. Interesting. But how about the correct way? Let's be honest... MECHANICAL TOOLS such as brushes cause breakage. No brush can take away or replace fingers isolating and actually physically detangling that tangle. It's just not possible. That brush is breaking thru the tangles and knots, it's NOT detangling it. I have always detangled my hair with my fingers. Now if there is a magical brush that has fingers I'm down for it. Perception and RUclips is a tricky place. Perception will never be truth.
@@michelleeja412im starting this finger detangling journey now because I am tired of taking literally 5 hrs or more hours to detangle and twist my hair and also feel the combs are causing damage and thinning my ends. How do you know when you have thoroughly detangled and gotten all the shed hairs out? How often do you wash your hair?
@MT-yx5cu good for you! I start detangling with wet hair that has some kind of conditioner in it. Not soaking wet hair, but not damp either(just a lil more than damp) at the base of my scalp, I gently pull apart my hair(create 4-6 sections or more depending on density) and slowly let me hands follow if I run into resistance, I gently detangle and pull the shed hair as I go down the shaft of my hair. When I get to my ends, I use my fingertips tips to remove the shedded hair. How do I know it's fully detangled? I repeat the same process until there is no more resistance, and I can smoothly run my hands down that section. I wash my hair 1x a week or every 2 weeks, depending upon if Im busy or lazy. Actually, the key to fewer tangles is remoistorization every couple of days and keeping up with trimming your ends. Oh, let me not forget protein treatments every 6-8 weeks or a couple of months.
I recently went back to using a comb after lightly finger detangling, instead of only using my fingers, because it removes the shed hairs and its faster for me. But when I wore protective styles(mini twist & braids), with my own hair, finger detangling each small section helped me tremendously to retain lenght.
I think I’ve pulled out a lot of unnecessary hair over the past few months using detangling tools. Finger detangling was working just fine , but I let certain trends make me think I was doing something wrong. I’m going back to what works 🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽
I'm jealous of ya'll folks who can finger detangle only. My ends cling onto shed hairs and knot up like crazy. Too tough for my fingers to contend with even with conditioner. I do as much as I can with my fingers, but an implement of some sort is necessary. It retangles itself immediately after the comb passes through it. My strands love being intertwined, lol. About to see what this tangle teezer can do.
Have you considered that you may need a good trim? I've had the same problem, but after I trim I'm good. And if my hair ends are still tangled I know I didn't trim enough. Brushes will never measure against finger detangling. Never.
@@michelleeja412 It doesn't matter how much I cut off, it's always the same. I just cut it recently (not trimmed). I have come to accept that is how my ends are or I'll be bald trying to trim away the "bad". Finger detangling may work for you, for me it will never work for these knots and leads to frustration and damage. Gotta do what works for you.
I also finger detangle now as well! However I still use a brush for styling, just to keep the hair smooth while twisting! It also prevents products from getting caught in the hundreds of bends in the strand, and prevents flaking!
I've been wandering back to 100% finger detangling. I feel like tools have been pulling out too much. So, at most, I hit the ends to get me started. I'll also use tools to make the ends clump more. So literally just brush the bottom...15% maybe. And if I get stuck stuck, I might whip out a tool to help.
Yes, sis. I finger detangle too, with fine strands. However, for my final detangle of a section, will use a brush stroke right before braiding that section. This works for me
I'm a newer natural, so I'm still figuring out what works for me. EZ Detangler was TRASH for me. My hair tangles very easy so my process is extensive and majority of it needs to be done before I rinse out my prepoo. Finger detangling is my main method. I bought the Kazmalaje tools kit during BF and so far the brush is working well for me. I am also playing around with different products for prepoo. Refrigerated coconut oil boosted with essential oils is bae. But my hair likes aloe vera juice and a few other products.
I think it’s really cool that you are beginning to figure out what works in this department. I’ve pre-pooed with actually aloe Vera and it was amazing…just time consuming. I’ve heard good things about those brushes, so I’m glad they work for you! Here’s to more learning and experimenting. 🥂
I lightly finger detangle with prepooing and applying deep conditioner. I do it fully with styling. I like using the tangled teezer but I don’t have the energy to try and find it on wash day. I use it more on mh daughter’s hair
I have tried finger detangling so many different ways, I can say with confidence that it is definitely not for me. I do light finger detangling while applying my pre poo and conditioner but it's the tangle teezer all the way for me.
Great video! From the beginning of my natural hair journey, I've only used my fingers to detangle. For me, using products with slip from my shampoo all the way to the stylers is the key. Looking forward to the new content!
I normally use a pick comb after slightly finger detangling, lol. I don't know why, but it works best for me. I would give only finger detangling a try. You make it looks so easy 😩💕
@@LaToyaEbonyHair My, my! I finger detangled today and I must say a HUGE THANK YOU! I lost less hair, the process was fast and almost painless, even when I'm extremely tenderheaded! Thank you so much for putting me through ❤
I’m the same way. Finger detangle before shampooing and detailed detangling with conditioner. Funny thing is I went back to combs. I like the brushes but they’re overwhelming. Maybe it’s mental
I detangle with my pre-poo, then work in sections. That works best for me so I find something to watch before I get in the shower. I can't stay in the shower that long!
You just inspired me to buy a waterproof phone case for the shower. I usually listen to music in the shower with a waterproof speaker, but I get bored with that.... the tv/movies is such a great idea!! Maybe I'll wash my hair more often now, lol
I need a version of this for ringlets hair as my hair wraps around my fingers and gets everything stuck (clips, bobbles, my own hands) and detangling is very hard. It's not like my hairs knotting but ringlets find shit to wrap around constantly.
Great video!! I tried to do this and didn’t work for me… it takes so much time for me to finger detangling and not get the results I want…I normally finger detangling my hair before washing and in the shower I will just use a comb with wider space in between and then I will use denman brush….
Yeah, I feel you. As long as you have something that works for you, that’s all that matters. New methods are fun to try, but no two routines ever have to look the same. The goal is to get back to enjoying life outside of our hair. Do you boo! 🙌🏾
I like finger detangling but how do you avoid the discomfort of overlly hydrated wrinkling fingers? I have moderately dense hair so I have to keep my hair saturated with water and conditioner to safely detangle; my fingers pay the price. Also, do you ever run out of warm water?😄
Yes, new information tends to be overwhelming. Cut yourself a break - I’m sure you’re doing great. Erase expectations and just do one new thing at a time. Slow and steady. ❤️
I think tools take out too much unnecessary hair especially for my fine hair. So, finger detangling is def superior for me! 👌🏽☺️
I’ve had mixed results. I got to a point where the brushes didn’t take out too much hair, but it was just taking too long for me lol! Fingers are bae.
