This finger detangling WORKS! ive been struggling with breakage and tools snipping and snagging my hair. After finger detangling my whole head, I lost hair the size of my THUMB PRINT... LITERALLY!!!🥳 I also tried your deep conditioning before shampooing and I think I'm ready to go on my journey to 6 inches. I love you Laila!!
Can we just appreciate the beauty radiating from this beautiful queen. Laila you have come such a long way! I have been watching you since 2012 and thanks to your videos I am now waist length. Blessings 😇🙏🏾 The impact this has had on me and so many others is amazing. You are truly an inspiration. Stay strong 💪
I can't begin to explain how important your videos are to me. I have been natural for 8 years and every second year I have had to big chop because my hair has always been so dry. I thought I just had bad hair, little did I know that I did not know how to properly moisturizer my hair. Until I started watching your videos 2 years ago and for the first time I have soft moist hair. 😁😁😍😍 You are an excellent teacher. I love your content. I'm all the way in South Africa and I can clearly relate to you videos. We don't even have the same hair texture but your advise worked for me. Your awesome 💕🙏
I can so relate to this as well. I thought my hair was bad ans considered chopping it all off and wearing it low. turns out I just wasnt moisturizing properly. Im happy you found something thats works for you. best of luck on your hair journey.
I'm glad you emphasized dry detangling first before going in with water and conditioner. Wetting my hair without doing so makes getting knots out nearly impossible so I end up cutting more ends than necessary. Love the song too!
I’ve recently started finger detangling and it’s not as time-consuming as I thought. I find it quite relaxing and I like that it makes me literally take a seat and care for my strands. Thanks for this detailed video! Stay well. Blessings...
I've definitely been doing it all wrong🤦♀️ And no wonder it takes me so long. I think your techniques are really gonna make finger detangling a lot faster for me. I ended up adding a tangle teezer to my detangling sessions because finger detangling alone just took way too long. But I'll give your way a try and see what happens. Thank you so much for tips! ❤️
This was soooooooooo helpful! I’m hoping that embracing this process will get me past arm pit length. I’ve been stuck there about a year now. You’re amazing THANK YOU! 💜💜💜💜
I finally had to surrender and throw out my comb. I'll admit, I don't like finger detangling, but it works and it saves your hair from breakage. Thank you so much for this video.
Great video ❤️ I’ve found that finger detangling has helped my fine 3c/4a hair retain length and reduce breakage. I use wide tooth combs here and there but mostly finger detangle
This was definitely helpful. I really want to get back into finger detangling I tried it for a few months and it did get easier with time but still took so long. I also felt like it helps with length retention. But didn’t feel like my hair was thoroughly detailed especially at the roots. Am I over detangling trying to make sure every single tangle is out?
This didn't work out for me . I figured it's just that my fingers can only do so much, I'd end up snapping knots instead of the gliding through them. So I tried more gliding actions but then I realized I was spending more time going over each strand which meant more contact/friction on my hair . At the end of the day the material of the comb wasn't that bad and size/shape seemed better for my hair.
Finger detangling works really well with medium or course strands. I have fine strands so initially I finger detangle on dry hair then use a flexi brush and gently detangle under water with conditioner.
It’s wash day & lost my wide tooth comb that I usually use to thoroughly detangle so I have to finger detangle the whole time so thank you sm for this video
I've been using a paddle brush, and quite roughly. I've been experiencing breakage at the crown. Hoping finger detangling reduces the issue and being more gentle.
Thank you Laila! This was helpful. My biggest issue with finger detangling that it was difficult to get my roots. Does anyone have tips for detangling matted roots without a brush? Thank you!
My go to style is the wash n go so I do get detangle twice a week and I do it after my hair has been deep conditioned. But I do go through my hair lightly as I shampoo.
True its a great way to get in touch with your hair. So utilizing this option at times is cool. Yet with a worthy detangling product, and the use of the correct tools. You can easily detangle well. Which won't cause any strain or damage to your hair, and save so much time, and stress in the process.
I think it's also important to note what your hairstylist uses because as much as you may baby your hair, they could rip off all your growth in 2 seconds. I usually try to entertain myself during the process, and I don't pay much attention, but the last time, I noticed hair flying, looked up and saw the reason for my hair stagnancy. With each section, she uses that tiny tooth comb to tear out all my progress! I will not be going back.
Don't be afraid to tell them they're using the wrong tools. I always turn and say girl use the wide tooth comb and hold my roots. You always work from wider to smaller tools
@@Jayariee I've done that before but I've noticed for some reason the hair stylists I've come across don't really work with wide tooth combs and asking them to use my hair tools slows down the process so much as they're used to combing (or ripping lol) hair a certain way 🤦🏾♀️
@@avasd59 I think their only concern is that you still have hair on your head to grip, and the style comes out looking good. Most of them usually don't care if it's growing or not.
Focus on your roots as you're detangling. Make sure you are gently breaking the hair apart in that area (if it's tangled ot matted) and work your way down. It's not difficult.
Thank you so much for sharing. I am trying to create a new regimen. How long is your complete wash day? Also, how long does it take to pre poo? I feel like I can get caught up and take much longer than needed
Very good. I want to try this as my hair is breaking out. Tried downloading your guide and unable to do so. Please send me the link for it via a reply to this comment. Thanks!
Nice video I actually came to youtube today to look for a knots video and i saw this i was excited, but i have a problem i dont even use comb at all since God knows, but today i washed my hair as usual and finger detangle but there was knots not at the root but like the middle of my hair, would i cut that one off too, i have a low porosity hair also, i am tired u think i would just cut my hair i tried everything even my husband is complaining, that i have used all the oils in the house for hair care🤣🤣the knots is overwhelming ☹️☹️i need your help, maybe that is why my hair is not growing
I just stumbled upon your channel. I'm transitioning. You are such a gem. I know this is totally irrelevant, but where are your earrings from? Really love them
I want to try finger detangling to see if I retain more length but idk how my scalp will get stimulated if I don’t use a brush. Do you ever find trouble stimulating your scalp?
Try Aloe Rose Detangling Spray (www.princessdgifts.com). I use it to moisturize and detangle. I also put my hair in two big Bantu knots every night to keep my hair stretched, which also helps with detangling.
@@Missd_34 oh okay thank you and since then I found some products that do a great job in dematting it in the morning one product is the d e u x & carol's Daughter 4 in 1 combing creme both from Target they both will work very well. Try to keep you hair stretched. Like African threading, twists, braids. It should reduce the singles strand knots. Also try to keep you hair in twists when washing , conditioning or in between deal with you hair to prevent you strands from intertwining. These cause single strand knots. I had loads before then I started ensuring my hair stays stretch. The are still some but have reduced. Hope this helps
Great video as always Laila, these are the exact methods/ processes I used before I cut my hair.
