    Are you waking up with a puffy face? There could be many reasons for this, but I want to focus on what I think are the BIG 3 things you can modulate in order to avoid bloating and avoid that puffy morning face. Let's dive in and I'll see you in the COMMENTS!!
    Modulation of Sodium and Potassium
    Potassium is a mineral: an element on the periodic table that is also an essential nutrient. Other essential minerals include sodium, magnesium, and calcium.
    In water, potassium (K) ionizes and gains one positive charge (K+). I’m drawing attention to this fact for two reasons:
    This property allows potassium concentration gradients to create electric currents that are absolutely required for muscle cells (skeletal, intestinal, and cardiac) to contract and for neurons to fire action potentials and communicate with each other.
    The only other essential mineral that has this same property as potassium (gains one positive charge in water) is sodium (Na+) because potassium and sodium are in the same “family” on the periodic table. BUT potassium is found mostly inside cells, whereas sodium is found mostly outside cells. This effectively makes potassium the “counter mineral” to sodium at the cellular level.
    Diversifying Your Gut Bacteria
    Some studies looking at the bowels of people with SIBO have found mucosal inflammation, mucosal thinning, an increase in lymphocytes, and even some blunting of the villi (on the surface of the intestines), which is typically seen in celiac patients.
    www.ncbi.nlm.n...
    The high fat, sugar, and salt content of typical Western people (SAD diet) can increase the pro-inflammatory potential of the microbiome and cause Bacteroides and Firmicutes to flourish in different amounts

    If I get out of Ketosis, I start to bloat immediately! My water weight climbs up so fast. That's why my goal is to try to at least stay in the low range of ketosis. I just feel better that way.

    • @eatwhatukiii2532

      I know what you mean! I love how I feel when I’m in ketosis, like I can do ANYTHING and have tons of energy, but when I slip and eat something I shouldn’t (instant regret, and guilt) bouncing out of ketosis makes me feel like crap, and the bloating makes me physically uncomfortable.

    To anyone on this channel who is looking to make drastic health improvements by obsessing over minuscule details and feels like this is all too daunting to maintain, I was there last July. I was just over 300lbs and now I am at 192. I was hyper-obsessing over every tiny detail, and if this kind of information works for you, then more power to ya. But all it takes is a caloric deficit, sticking to eating high volume/satiating foods, being more active, making adjustments as you go. Your genetics and commitment to the change will dictate how fast you see your results, but if you’re consistent, they will come. So get healthy, people.

    • @tomsawyer2112
      @tomsawyer2112 4 года назад +8

      A caloric deficit will slow your metabolism down, that's an undisputed fact, the loss of weight will also lower the need of calories to move your body, so how far will you go with a caloric restriction and physical exercise until you hit the wall and gain weight again, while almost starving, because of a low thyroid activity, causing fatigue too which lowers activity over time.

    • @garrettbynum2035

      Tom Sawyer See that is exactly the kind of overthinking I hope to encourage people to stop doing, but if it works for you then have at it. Dig the Rush pic though.

      I agree with you. Get out and move your body for a few hours each day and then try to fast until around 1pm. Eat lots of greens and stick to meat. Lost and kept off my weight. These videos are great for adjustments to fine tune after you get the weight off though. You have to put in the time and energy though. No matter how many videos you watch...you really need to do the work. Start stacking up your days with your diet, exercise, and that is what makes it happen.

      Say it louder! It starts in the kitchen, requires a bit of consistency and then soon after they both grow bigger, then with dedication to staying consistent you start loving it and before you know it you're in the best shape of your life enjoying all your food!
      I made changes to my food habits- dropped from 96kg to 84 over 14 months (with a weak excuse for exercise routine) but my goal was to stop overeating and to be CONSISTENT. I was in a caloric deficit - something I wasn't aware of at the time. I levelled at 84 for 2 months straight so was time for an adjustment. I added in regular exercise for a month just to be more active and to see what happens to me- dropped some 4kg of fat. Then I put together an exercise routine and stayed consistent with it. Problem was my weight was dropping like mad!! I didn't want to be skinny defined so I started tracking my food because I was dropping weight and never hungry! I saw and learned about food intake etc and started increasing my protein intake and food quantities and ended up balancing around 74/75kg.
      Today is day 98 of my regular, consistent exercise program and month 17 of consistently better eating(but not the best) and for the first time in my life I have a feint six-pack at rest and visible one at flex. My body fat is at or below 15% (can't really trust my scale) and I'm in a period of life now at 34 where I'm the lowest BF% and best definition/shape and overall health I've been in my entire life.. All it took was consistency, dedication and focus over 18 months so far.
      Consistency is the hardest part, and it all starts and ends in the kitchen..

      Excess estrogen (& also lack of) can cause facial puff, counterbalance it with more estrogen see if that helps if on HRT, and if not try it! Worked wonders for me. And also please get your thyroid tested properly (not just the TSH test you want the full thyroid antibody test as Hashimotos thyroid blood test fluctuate wildly so are unreliable!) Dr may say you’re too young as it ‘usually affects women over 50’ but that’s not true, I was 32 when diagnosed and I’d been ill for years! You can get the thyroid antibody test online for £50 Ish if the Dr won’t do it. Hope that helps, oh and exercise definitely helps as it moves lymph fluid around, try running, a rebounder, or a vibration plate (which is awesome and low impact too!)

      I'll tell you one big reason he isn't a doctor; he would be ostracized by his peers, the insurance companies and the entire medical bureaucracy. l have met two doctors in my 50 years of life that would divulge sound, research based, INFORMATION. Yes, just good old, plain old information.
      Does Matt DeLauer sound like he's trying to baffle or overwhelm you with jargon or big scientific words? No. He's just telling you facts to help you make healthy decisions that doesn't involve 17 visits to the waiting room (at 40 minutes per visit) for 3 minutes with a doctor who can't wait to prescribe you some drug with six different names and six different side effects. In other words, money. Very rare people help others when no money is involved or the only incentive is to line investor's pockets.

    • @joc8092
      @joc8092 4 года назад +1

      this attack on doctors is a bit much. Sure, there are bad ones. But there are more good ones than bad. You can see some good ones on RUclips (Jason Fung, Doctor Mike, Ken Berry, Mark Hyman etc.) I don't know much about your American system, but maybe your system is also partly to blame. The other part of the blame might be attributed to an almost conspiracy theory about not trusting those in power, much like how people rail against "establishment media". Then these same people will trust outlets like Fox News or Alex Jones. As for this Thomas guy, it's a similar thing. You guys trust this guy, but he's not doing the research himself. He's citing other studies that are done by scientists and doctors in the medical field. Not only that, but he gets confused sometimes with some of the stuff himself, yet he seems to revel in citing big words and putting on airs to his impressionable audience. And if you're talking about the honesty of Thomas, he's been disingenuous to his fans since the get go. Can't see why you guys don't see this

    I don't agree with the potassium remark and please people don't take a potassium supplement unless your doctor told you and you had proper blood tests. It can be very very dangerous if you do without a proper blood test beforehand. I eat a whole food diet and my potassium was over the range in a blood test. I've taken zero potassium supplements.

    • @paratrooper73

      Nope, because you can not see it in a bloodtest. Proof is too deep in the cell. So, huge amount of people think their bloodwork is fine, while in meantime they have a potassium dificiency! I am one them and the rest of the people is to see in many vid comments. So you can stop shouting now.

      There's constipation and there's bloating (water retention). Linzess only treats the first one. Be sure you take the Linzess first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with a large glass of water (at least 16 ounces), and wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast. That stuff needs an empty stomach to work properly. Then if you can tolerate caffeine, drink coffee with your breakfast. That should get things moving. If not, go to the pharmacy and buy a bottle of magnesium citrate (usually about 8oz of fluid in a glass bottle). Chug that thing with 2 large glasses of water on an evening when you have nothing to do, because you will be in the bathroom all night. If that and the Linzess don't work, you have a blockage and need to go to the emergency room. I find it odd they prescribed Linzess for a colonoscopy. That stuff changes your bowels over time, it mainly treats IBS with constipation, takes weeks or months to regulate things out. But the magnesium citrate is the stuff you want for more instant results.
