I've recently subscribed to this channel , I believe the Captain has some great tips and information.
Unfortunately I find that the " top mistakes" videos and the " your doing it all wrong videos" are not helpful. I look for a positive message and positive reinforcement. Ultimately just GOOD information. Like the " modified Albright" video. I learned something. I've been on my fair share of back country charters, with just myself and a guide. Many were great, some don't seem to grasp that not everyone is a tournament fisherman. Hell some of these people were shoveling 4 ft of snow 2 days before holding a fishing pole in their hands. I find the most uptight charter captains are kinda burned out and just don't enjoy guiding anymore. Pack it in.
Folks won't get better at it if complaining is all you have to offer.

You nailed it with the spinning reel stuff! I had a client waste two spools of power pro because they wouldn't listen and kept blaming the power pro for the wind knots. He didn't even offer to pay me for the line! Acted like it was my fault.

As i watched this video, I laughed, then grimaced, then frowned, and finally, laughed again. But most people learn from experience, and some have never been fishing, much less on a boat. I'm sure you know, these problems are not exclusive to professional guides, as I have often felt with these same issues for over 50 years with guest, and friends. After many years, I learned to have a frank conversation with guests about their experience level before we even put the boat in the water, and it has saved me a lot of grief, and money.

Well...I've been fishing for 40 years with guides all over the Caribbean, Bahamas and multiple places in the Keys...and I close my spin reels exactly as you describe, with the handle. No one has ever told me different. Between 15-20 guides...not one has mentioned it? Its kind of why I hate the tone of *some* videos like this - there's this assumption that everyone who does it like this is stupid or ignorant or cant learn or doesnt know better. I'd be thrilled to keep learning new things or a better way to do it!
But Its also why I can understand people new to the sport being afraid of going out with a guide for the first time - lest they break one of the 159 "unwritten rules".

Great video about problems most serious fisherman whether a guide with clients or just taking your friends or family member out.
A tool that could be helpful is an email to clients 48 hours before a trip asking them to send conformation back for the scheduled trip. In the email note expected weather conditions and a general list of what to bring; such as water/drink of choice, snack (i provide a small cooler for your cold items), medication if needed, sunscreen (no spray bottles), polarized sunglasses. Rods and tackle will be provided , if you have a single rod you would like to bring and or one small tackle tray please feel free. Please DO NOT BRING multiple rods, large tackle boxes or large coolers to the boat. I am looking forward to a successful trip.
Many clients just do not know so a written reminder can be helpful to both guide and client.
As we all know some will still not read or follow but most will.
You have a great channel and even though I am a well seasoned inshore angle I have learned and or been remind of quite a few techniques and tips.

Here's one from this one future client's perspective. With my 60 years experience, what is expected and allowed? I've been chartered where the client never ties a knot, lands a fish, sets a hook, picks a bait or technique. Then there have been charters that were mere water taxis. Also, smoke through the keyhole? Toby Keith song reference.(Dream Walkin').

I have a t-shirt that says "I'm sorry for the things I said when I was docking the boat!" LOL.
Honestly, not sorry though... It's better to hurt someone's feelings then have them lose their fingers, break their hand, or end up swimming.
When I'm on someone else's boat or with a guide, I ask what they want me to do when they are loading, unloading, docking or anchoring. I want to help but I don't want to do something that is counter productive.

Ohhh my my…. I have Soo many peeves….. you nailed some … let’s add to that… putting hooks in the guides, adjusting the drag to lock down , bill dancing the hook set on a circle hook, slamming latches, skid marked shoes,3 cases of beer , smoking pot, ankle trackers can we stay closer to shore I need signal ,I know it’s 27.9 inches and I paid for the trip I want to keep that fish and I’ll have a hissy unless I can,I have to poo for the 4th time , I didn’t bring a hat, I don’t have sunglasses , my pappy taught me how to reel this way aka upside down,of course I use my whole body to get a running start at a cast , touches my gps, asked to pole my skiff, can I drive, I just put skin stuff on can I kill all the bait in the livewell,I wanna take pictures with my camera not yours, can I use the net as a bludgeoned tool to sub due the fish , I’ll bring food. Aka 19 Walmart bags and 6 bags of ice, can I bring my own gear international 9 wide 200 lb leader for trout… yup keep your hands in the boat , respect the boat, and keep yourself safe …. I love my guests and giggle when I see some of this , over the years we all see it …. The only one I will not accept is when I’m demanded to stay on the water in unsafe conditions… this is my responsibility to keep you safe … we will be safe or we will not go… period …

You need to make a video series called inshore fishing 101, start with basics like this that people can watch and learn before their guide trip, then have inshore fishing 102 advanced skills. This is like me getting frustrated at the new parent calling me in the middle of the night telling me their 6 month old child has a fever without ever thinking to give it some Tylenol before waking me up…I used to get so annoyed as a young doctor then became much more understanding as I grew older having had my own child, that being said I stopped doing peds because of the parents 🤦🏼‍♀️, so maybe stop guiding if you can’t take time to educate your clients before their trips!

Video should of been titled fishing guide complaints don't know how these are "inshore mistakes" never would of thought you'd be against boat
flipping lol crazy that the people that hire guides don't know that much about fish like they're new to it or something especially ones that never been on a boat before and they don't know how to fight a fish on a boat. Sounds like a good guide would use most of these as a teaching opportunity you know that's why they hired you in the first place.
