Thanks for this glad you enjoyed it! Always double check with the fans to make sure you’re reacting to the best version ! I think the live performance on Hey Hey it’s Saturday is best, followed by the studio version. Jimmy Barnes is an absolute LEGEND you need to react to more of him
there's another live version I prefer (common in YT reaction vids), I just tried to search for it on youtube, but the account who posted it has since been terminated :(
The combo of Farnsey and Barnsey! Jimmy is another Aussie legend who fronted a band called Cold Chisel. They had two lead singers, the other being Ian Moss. He has also had a magnificent solo career since the 80s. The guitarist is Diesel, another Aussie icon who also happens to be Jimmy's brother-in-law. John is John. Flawless and entertaining to the hilt! Get well Farnsey!💕
Hey Meags, Jimmy is a whole other rabbit hole to go down. Everything from working-man denim rock through soul (as this one) and into ballads. Also has a rare vocal talent that allows him to add so much grit into his performances that it almost sounds like a scream but does not damage his vocal folds. Jimmy came to fame with Cold Chisel, a ridiculously talented band that imploded fairly quickly with loads of animosity between the band members. A few years later and a whole lot of perspective brought them back together and they still perform together from time to time outside of their own solo careers. Jimmy has a back-catalog to rival John's. You will get plenty of suggestions for his songs but I really love his solo stuff from the late 80's & early 90's. Pure power in his belts. "Lay down your Guns" original version is balls-to-the-wall Jimmy in full flight, but there is a later version he did when he has mellowed a touch with The Living End (another great Aussie band). I'd suggest that version for you to check out. Guitarist here is Diesel, aka Johnny Diesel (and the Injectors when with his band). Real name is Mark Lizotte, and as others have mentioned he is Jimmy's brother-in-law. He has his own brand of rock, blues & soul, you could check out the track he is best known for, 'Cry in Shame'. You will note that as you start looking at these artists, you will note that they do collabs with other artists. Then you look at those other artists work, see more collabs and start checking those bands out. The Australian Music Industry - and even including our Kiwi cousins - is unique in that there is not usually much animosity between artists and bands. There's always a few dislikes but you never really hear about major beefs and as such they generally work together and collab and bring out some gems such as this track with Farnsey.
Now you know of Jimmy Barnes. He has done a duet with Tina Turner; it is the best version of her song 'Simply the Best'. He has a duet with his son David Campbell who is also a wonderful singer. If you asked why his son has a different name, it's because Jimmy wasn't married to his mum. Jimmy's brother is named John Swan. There's a story there, short version Jimmy took his step-father's, last name out of respect for Reg Barnes. John was older and he kept his father's last name. Jimmy Barnes was born James Swan. He had respect for Mr. Barnes who married his mother. It was before he was in the music business. It is not a stage name. Jimmy was in a band when he was 16. But this was not a band of teenagers, they were older men. They recognized his great talent and included him in their band, even though they already had a singer. Ian Moss had a great voice too and him and Jimmy together were fantastic. The band sounded great too, great guitar picking and a sprinkling of piano. The band was Cold Chisel. This song in the link is 'Forever Now' ruclips.net/video/Hhnp3td-UHU/видео.html Also check out - Choir Girl - ruclips.net/video/uO4lvUHr-r0/видео.html - When the War is Over ruclips.net/video/HoS1Fr9G46I/видео.html - Saturday Night ruclips.net/video/lelsyP9qL2I/видео.html I'm sure the other commentors will recommend others. Ian and Jimmy together are amazing. 😀 Jimmy's daughter Mahalia Barnes is also a great singer. They have sung together.
I love that they both now have a fan in you. I'm sure they'd be thrilled watching your reaction but they're the kinda guys who don't like to gloat. They're both very humble down to earth guys. Sending much love from Queensland Australia 🦘💜
I love this reaction to our Aussie boys - they are great mates. The guitarist Diesel is Jimmys brother-in-law and if you watch the 1991 version live on Hey Hey Its Saturday you'll see Diesel join in and make it a trio after his guitar solo. They are all great mates and fantastic together. They are Rock and Soul Royalty and we are Aussies are so proud of them. ❤❤❤
Jimmy Barnes is another Australian icon and equally famous. He is a powerhouse singer. The guitarist is Jimmy's brother-in-law and a great singer as well. John and Jimmy are great friends. You have to check out Jimmy's songs now. He will blow your socks off.
I think you would love the Jimmy Barnes duet with Tina Turner "Simply The Best." There is magic between those two and Jimmy is one of the few people in the world who can equal the great Tina Turner in a performance.
Oh YEAH! No-one does grit and growl like Jimmy. Farnsie & Barnsie! Magical. 🤣🤩 * For another powerhouse duo -> Check out Jimmy & Tina Turner's 1991 clip: " Simply The Best " 😊
Loved your reaction to this - Im a John Farnham fanatic, but I love Jimmy to bits as well. I would love to hear your reaction to Jimmy Barnes & Tina Turner 'Simply the Best' or Jimmy Barnes & Joe Bonamassa 'Stone Cold' just to start with lol
The guitarist (Johnny diesel) is a great artist in his own right and very talented. Jimmy Barnes was in a band called Cold Chisel which was an Australian iconic band in the 70s 80s. Check all those out!
It's really great to see different versions of this, one of my faves. John returns the compliment, having Jimmy as a guest at John's concert, singing "When the War is Over". Their friendship is even more obvious there. ruclips.net/video/LOvEyI1d2jk/видео.html
Of course these guys are brilliant live and I have the privilege of seeing them both live many times over the years, on this one occasion only I prefer their amazing studio version of this song. 💕
So great together, I think the concert John performed Help with MSO was unbelievable, especially the song before Help John performed It’s a long way to the top. Do us and yourself a favour have a look, but beware put your dancing shoes on and get ready to rock 😅
So, Jimmy was the lead singer from Cold Chisel (check out one of the live recordings of 'Bow River' to keep the blues going). John was the lead singer for Little River Band. The guitarist is Jimmy's Brother-in-law, known as Johnny Diesel from Johnny Diesel & the Injectors.
Hey hey it’s Saturday I think is the best version. This is slowed down . Now you have the Barnsey ( Jimmy Barnes) and Cold Chisel rabbit hole to go down as well as Farnsey’s. ( John Farnham)
I'm loving your reactions to our John Farnham...this is great but would probably rate about 4th in my pick....Hey Hey It's Saturday would be the best for sound and picture quality. Thank you from all of us Aussies lol Liked and subscribed
Two of the bigg singers in Australia 🇦🇺 The media used to play them off against each other why they sang together to,stop the myth Both get along very well and respect each other's talents The 3rd guy is another Aussie solo singer johnny diesel brother in law to Jimmy Jimmy was part of a band called cold chisel and sang with another Aussie Ian moss who's just as good and amazing on guitar 🎸 while singing Watch jimmy's later one to see his power It's Jimmy barnes and Joe bonamassa singing Stone cold and you'll also get two solo guitar 🎸 sessions both voice and guitar 🎸 are amazing Could write dozens of song from both 5decades John 4 decade Jimmy no1s Then bands heaps but theirs also a modern day singer song writer with vocal versatility as John not quite the highest range John has but theirs no one with that high range but John If want more happy to help Cheers for giving our boys the acknowledgement they deserve Cheers mate 👍🇦🇺💯
Brilliant as usual, and to think John has never had any singing lessons at all and as for Jimmy he had some form of gospel training when he was younger!!
Jimmy and John are joined by Jimmy's brother-in-law Johnny Diesel, another great Australian artist. I prefer their performance at the 1991 ARIA Awards, especially the end when the sing acapella.
Jimmy and John are Rock Royalty in Aus. And Deisel on Guitar is not far behind. A great one from Jimmy is Stone Cold duet with Joe Bonamassa. He's a bit older but the power and the passion all in one song. John, you need to check out his cover of ACDC's It's a Long Way to the Top (either live with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra or live from the Chain Reaction concert.. It's another vocal masterclass and high energy.
❤John and Jimmy. Australia has so many World class performers. Of course AC/DC, INXS were trail blazers for well known artists, but there are many who just stayed local. Check out “Never Let Me Go” by The Black Sorrows.
Fair enough. To me it isn’t about being narrow minded it’s more about which version brings out the best in them. Barnsey isn’t his best in this and both of them miss the timing a few times - also the sound quality isn’t the best. I choose best versions for lots of reasons but don’t feel it’s being narrow minded.
I think our boys and other Australian performers are international standard. Why is the America and the UK only discovering them via RUclips? Guess we keep the best to ourselves 😂. Only joking 😊 We’ve been lucky enough to listen, watch on Tv and live concerts since the 1960s an 70s for years 😊
Here is one you might like to see : ruclips.net/video/2uV_tZODfK8/видео.html Farnsie and ONJ have been best of friends for ever, so seeing them perform live is something magical.
Despite what my esteemed friend Kappy and her cohort says, this version with a live band (not a recorded backing track that most of the others have) is the one. Barnsey, Farnsey and Diesel (unfortunately you talked all the way through his solo) blow the guts out of this old Sam and Dave number. By the way your mic is way louder than the track. Apart from that, love your enthusiasm.
Hey, the Meagler, we need the volume up on the song to enjoy it properly, but then your voice nearly deafens us. Can you do something about that please?
John Farnham can sing anything. He is the greatest
Fantastic! Love 'em
