    Notice how far Farnsey holds the mike away from his mouth and closer to the others so he doesn't overpower them. He does that with everyone he sings with so they get their moment. He is selfless, professionally and in normal life.

    Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham recorded and released "When Something Is Wrong with My Baby" as the second single from Barnes' fifth studio album, Soul Deep. Jimmy was very generous with the space he gave John on this track. They were both very generous with the space and support they gave each other, instead of trying to compete as many other artists would have done. Superb individual vocals and superb harmonies. They are both total powerhouses. Both GOATS.

    this was recorded on a variety show called Hay hay its Saturday so yes its a TV show and those pecky lottery numbers did pop up. This show had many great stars come on and perform live . One of them was Tom Jones who did an impromptu duet with John Farnham called my Yiddish mother . You could see the mutual respect they had for each other. A fantastic off the cuff performance that left people stunned.

    Funny thing i find is that while everyone loves John and Jimmy, they actually do forget the forefathers of Australian music that came just before. Some of them actually supplied Farnham with content to sing.
    You should check out *To Love Somebody, Tribute to Maurice Gibb, Marcia Hines, Brian Cadd, Max Merritt, Doug Parkinson*.
    The Old Boys that Marcia are singing with were the Legendary Australian vocalists of the time before Farnham and Barnes and herself.
    Also check out Marcia Hines and Jimmy Barnes singing Fire and Rain in their little studio interview.
    It shows the beautiful gentler side on Jimmy's vocal abilities.
    Marcia is another Legendary Aussie singer. Born in America she came here at 16 to perform for the Broadway of Jesus Christ Superstar, and never left.

    • @suerussell1207
      @suerussell1207 Год назад +1

      Of course there were many great artists before John and Jimmy but they have stood the test of time and deserve the adulation they receive. The Bee Gees are not forgotten, Marcia Hines is so respected here in the Australian Music Industry. If I remember correctly, John Farnham and Bee Gees preceded Marcia Hines by a few years. Max Merritt and Doug Parkinson and many others all came from the same era. Might check with Mr Google.

    • @theghost6412
      @theghost6412 Год назад

      @@suerussell1207 Don't need google. Max, and Doug who were in their mid to late 70's when they died came from the generation just before John. Brian who was also from Max and Doug's generation and is a only a few years older than John however he started as a young child which is how he was from Max and Dougs generation. In comparison John was a young adult when he started.
      Bee Gee's were from the generation before Max, Doug and Brian.
      As for Marcia, she is roughly from John's generation and started young as we all know.
      My entire point is that sadly Max, Doug and Brian are somewhat forgotten these days by many.

You might (or might not lol) consider viewing a duet John did with Olivia Newton John (who recently passed away) it is a beautiful love song, "Please Don't Ask Me" sung so convincingly that ppl often wonder if they were a couple. You don't last that long in the music industry unless you are totally connected to the music and feeling it. Both (actually all 3 ) of these guys live and I mean LIVE for music, and the audiences know that. The passion and soul they sing with is just bursting from every pore in their body.
    Another one of my favourite songs from John Farhham you can see true passion is "One". He first recorded it back in 1969 during his Teen Idol period. It certainly stood the test of time as John continued to perform it o and off throughout his career adjusting the arrangement and timbre of his voice to suit the time. This version is from the late 80's and it sounds like a great Rock Ballad. m.ruclips.net/video/FdNEKwMf1LQ/видео.html
    And this is a video of him singing it back I the 60's so that you can get an idea of the journey he has gone on and how his voice and style developed. Even back then in his teens we knew he was something special.
    It would be great if you could do them back to back...

    Well, what more can I say about these guys that you haven't already. It's not without trying, that many Aussie artists couldn't crack the USA, but most of them don't like being dictated to by anyone, let alone record producers. Their music is theirs and nobody's gonna change that. Cold chisel did try, but were poorly advertised as a heavy metal band, aside from other kinds of mismanagement. So they came home to lick their wounds and wrote You got nothin' I want, re their experience.
    Then there's the Angels, who went on tour with James Brown, who, I guess, got jealous of the crowd's enthusiasm for them and sacked them. They were just trying to rev up the crowd for him and being unknown, of course they wanted people to remember them. 🤷‍♀️
    Anyway, have you heard Stevie Wright's black eyed bruiser? It was later rerecorded by Rose tattoo. Awesome track and live performance!
