FYI security at the gate is actually a positive and not a negative. it actually takes way more manpower to make that happen and in return you only need to queue a short while for security as the only people in your queue will be the people on your flight and also because everyone comes at a different time, the queue doesn't really get that long more importantly, not having a central security for everyone at the entrance allows for everyone to enter the departure area ASAP with no delay, whether you're rushing to catch your flight in 15mins or taking your time to relax and enter.
No it’s true it actually is a really cool idea and really smart. We just didn’t know how it would work and that the security was for each individual gate (that’s so cool). We thought it might be for a groups of them so didn’t want to be late. You make some really great points thanks for sharing 😊
The architect is Moshie Shadie, a Lebanese Canadian who immigrated to Canada when young and studied at McGill. He's also the architect for the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Habitat 67 in Montreal. That guy's a genius. I wish they would do something and update Toronto Pearson. .old, dismal disorganized and a nightmare. Visited Singapore in April this year. The stark difference between the 2 airports was like night and day.
Thank you so much for all the information Eduardo! We had no idea the architect studied in Canada! We agree they should spice up Pearson for sure :) thanks for watching!!

It was one of the most surreal things to land at T1, out of the gates and straight into a mall when I went home to visit some years back.
