Love the unique perspective the Kym adds to the F1 RUclips community! Already a lot of great reporting/announcer style channels out there so I love that he covers more of the race experience side and shares his perspective of having professional/working relationship with the drivers.
Thanks Monika with a K
that’s my dad on 4:36 he did a great job at explaining the area ☺️
He shone huh!
As A lifelong Formula One fan and an American, I feel that the US is a fitting place for 3 F1 races but no more. Sadly, though I can stand the fact that they picked Miami and Las Vegas. We have so many Iconic tracks here already but as you said in the video, it’s all about the money. Soon normal fans are going to be priced out of races all together. The LV one day tickets started at like 2K for a grand stand ticket, Not to mention the already insane prices for hotels and airfares.
LV doesn’t sell one day tickets
defo no more than 3, but they should rotate the tracks so we get to see new ones in the US, would be nice. Then need to cut back in the Middle East, only 1 per calander. they have no history, racing culture, very few Arab fans, just oil money to sports wash their country. At least US fans have racing history and are really passonate about racing and put on a great show.... but i agree ticket prices are waaay too high
@@charlesjay8818 very few Arab fans? Who are we criticise other countries. There is money and corruption in every government, especially the us and here in the Uk. Formula one needs to go
Back to Germany, Argentina, Turkey, Portugal.
You are so talented and kind, was a pleasure take a picture with you 🔝
As a devoted F1 fan and an expat Aussie living in the States, I am so amazed with the forum you have created. Typical down to earth, honest and meaningful content that you provide with bonus travel reviews from hotels to airlines. Keep up the fabulous work - thoroughly enjoyable.
Cheers.
It was very nice meeting you in the Caesar's lobby! Definitely a shame to miss the event this weekend.
Follow my vids for all the action. Cheers
Great video Kym. Las Vegas F1 is going to be epic! Vegas will make it so much more than just a race - it will be a multi-day extravaganza with the best entertainment and the best parties. Can't wait!
I Understand the US getting 3 races if you compare it to the number in Europe and the distance between the GP's it makes sense.
Love your content Kym you’re a great ambassador for the sport I’ve been a fan in America for a while but with the new resurgence I think it’s great keep it coming who cares what all the old timers think. Stay passionate brother !!!
I'm here in Vegas now and will be here for the 'show' tomorrow, hope it's awesome!
Just wow, thanks for bringing us around!
You’re the best for the behind the scene atmosphere of Formula1
Long Beach grand Prix 2023 will have a special formula 1 race with the cars from 1970-1980's for the weekend's grand prix. Formula 1 should consider bringing back this track again.
Thanks heaps Kym. You're giving a whole new perspective to F1 fans through your journey.. keep them coming 😁
Hello Kym, thanks for the video in Vegas! Love watching 🙂
This track is gonna be amazing for overtaking , long straights , high speed action in a street circuit its gonna be carnage .
No it won’t lmao. It’s going to be DRS train central…
@@maxgodfrey4985 not with THOSE tight corners
Mini heart attack at the start lol
I was planning on going to the Las Vegas race but the tickets are so steep. It's cheaper for me to travel Miami and see the race there. The flight is about 3 times longer (I'm in Seattle) but I think it will be worth it.
I agree that the caliber of racing experience will hopefully top notch, but that waits to be seen. I do however know that Las Vegas know how to host and run an event like nobody else. It will be an absolutely epic experience guaranteed…..outside of the actual race
You briefly touched on the topic of availability of tickets for the Las Vegas race. Couple of weeks ago I checked into rooms in the hotels in the track area. Only to find out all the rooms facing the track area had been sold out to FIA. A bit disappointed that I would have to go through a third party to acquire rooms. Would prefer to deal directly with the hotel. Keep up the good work let us know what you do with your week in Vegas, cheers mate.
So how will this affect pricing for Austin and Miami races next year, I wonder? Will they all try to be the most expensive or will one be cheaper?
@@CallieMasters5000 I'm sure Austin will be the most economical if you can call it that the other 2 are absolutely outrageous in prices.
They haven’t all been sold to FIA. I spoke with one hotel Exec today and they told me they’re not releasing their rooms until December or January.
@@KymIllman Excellent. That is fine news. Any reports on accommodations, including pricing, locations, availability, etc. I am sure would be interesting and appreciated by your viewers. Your ability to ferret out information with your journalistic flare is quite entertaining. Thank you for your updates.
Love your videos and photography ❤
Cannot wait to watch the las Vegas GP next year!!
Kym's content is improving like fine wine. Kudos!
Always love your content 👍
Martin Brundle’s grid walk will be interesting in Vegas to say the least!
Going to be honest, I’m an American F1 fan and I’m not at all excited for the Vegas GP. The track looks so boring it might be worse than Miami. Personally, I favor axing both Vegas and Miami and just giving the drivers a little more of a break
I hope it turns out as good a place for racing as it is for the lavish parties, and not be a disappointment like Miami which was focused more on the showbiz than on F1.
Here in Vegas. Let's go!
Can't wait for vLogs from Vegas
Damn, you're living it up in Vegas, Señor Kym! Caesars Palace is nice AF. My first visit to Vegas was a $400 package trip with flight from Houston, rental car, and 4 day stay at the Westward Ho - in the Rear (literally, that's what it was called). The motel rooms were so far in the rear desert, you had to call a shuttle bus to drive you to the hotel lobby. But, nobody was there for the room. Don't over-do it on the Nobu food and luxuries. Have you been to Hoover Damn? 😁
I think I went to whoever many years ago, or do I just remember from Vegas Vacation
Hey Kym, Great video as always.. excited to see this new venue.. If you get bored and need to get out of Vegas go to the Valley of Fire.. and bring a camera.. It is an amazingly beautiful location where many films and commercial are shot... Cheers...
I’ve shot a model there once. Stunning.
@@KymIllman OH nice.. Glad you got to do that.. !!!
This will be an exciting track for sure!
Been out to the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School at Spring Mountain, Pahrump, Nv. A great venue. Enjoy
Hi Kym..Great video as always and see you next year in Canada and in Suzuka...I will search you to say hello and hi to you. As usual huuuuuge hugs from Colombia
Have fun in Vegas!
Ha! You told the guy gracias at the Nobu desk. Welcome back to the US.
The track doesn’t look very inspired… we’ll see.
"Drive to Survive" has certainly contributed to the recent popularity of F1 in the US. Given these ticket prices I am looking at Canada for my next race!
My home town big guy 🎉🎉🎉 Have a wonderful time😎
As soon as you said you were heading to Caesar's I said to myself that I hope he goes to the Nobu Hotel. Not even 10 seconds later--Boom!
This track should be called "The Big Bear".. Hope that catches on... 😀😀
I'm an American and have been an F1 fan since I was a young teenager. Unfortunately F1 has become outrageously unaffordable. I used to go to the Indianapolis Grand Prix and guess I will have to hold on to those memories.
Indianapolis gp is for indycar
@@jlutz63 The Formula One World Championship raced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 2000-2007 in the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis
As a fan that has been watching since before 2012, in a period where the US didnt even have 1 race, the increase in popularity has been crazy. I have never been to a race and was interested in Las Vegas, but at 2k per seat it is very much out of the question for me.
i think removing great iconic tracks for new races in the Usa is ridiculous
I wish they would have upgraded the iconic tracks the US already has instead of pushing these fake glamour events
@@lillianwilson13 exactly these fake glamour events are full of attention seeking people who has nothing to do with f1
Nice vlog and also nice to know what's behind an F1 GP or the presentation of a new GP. Also wanted to ask if anyone knows which brand is the sweater he is wearing on minute 5:29 :)
Hipanda. Got it in Japan. It’s Chinese and great value
PTSD from the first 3 seconds 😂
I got some emails for the presale - sadly it looks like this will be too expensive for me - its a Miami 2.0. They want you to buy tickets for the whole weekend too so you can't just come along for the race. I might sit out the first one as I am sure there will be bugs and logistical kinks they will have to work through.
Polanco is nice. I would compare it to (Manhattan's) Upper East Side. Glitzy, picturesque, full of luxury.
I really enjoy a Videos
I like the Vegas race! It's on a saturday night too, perfect for that city. IMO, if we're going to have multiple races here.... I wish F1 did ovals in the US, unique only to the states. 1 street (Vegas) 1 track (COTA) 1 Oval (IMS).
as much as id also love to see an oval F1 race its probably much too dangerous for the current spec of car :(
@@mediocretactician3830 And tires. Perelli don't make tires for high-speed ovals.
Screw boring ovals.. go watch indycar and crashcar for that crap!!
I assume they will have a roulette table and a few escorts on the pre race starting grid parade.
I will keep a lookout for that.
You know the race is gonna be terrible when there's a launch party over a year in advance.
Miami held a party Thursday night and that was boring.
Great video as always Kym. Though I have no issue with American races, the Vegas F1 race is the epitome of what is wrong with F1, it's not for the real fans, it's all about the money and the hangers on. Sad for such a great sport.
That’s not a fair assessment at all. There will be loads of genuine F1 fans, as long as we are not priced out of it.
And you forgot, las vegas is gonna have Kym Illman.
Big drawcard that!
Hey Kym, Is Internet available on such international flights? Or do you do all of your editing without it .
As a programmer I can't imagine working without internet. 😅
I don’t need internet to edit. But most flights now have Internet
Those ticket prices 😲
giggle - can you get some snaps of the bro love fest Dan is doing with Merc. Its like its his first day at school and hes trading donuts to make new friends....im not sure if im impressed by it or appalled by it - but i cant look away.
money is money and that is key and more races in the US is key
Kym,where was the launch party advertised?
On my Instagram page that’s for sure
It is going to be interesting for sure to see how Liberty Media handles the relatively "new" sudden U.S. interest in F1.
Nice hotel
Super.
First view!!! Cheers from Mexico!
is the Vegas event on TV anywhere?
ESPN doing an hour program on Sat night
@Kym Illman, what do you do with all the swag you get at the races?
Give it away to followers/friends in the city I get it.
@@KymIllman, cool
You go to SEMA?
You showed Casey Neistat here and I have often wondered whether he has inspired your video making techniques because there are definitely many noticeable similarities in your vlogs, two of my favorite RUclips creators.
I think that the US could do with another GP but it has to be on a track not street. 2 tracks 2 street is better than having another street race.
Maybe Elvis will turn up!! Las Vegas has it all now well in 2023 anyway. Seems to me that F1 is becoming a bit of a Circus with almost unlimited money pouring into it. Great coverage as always Kym.
Whatever they’re doing, the people are buying it
If the racing will be successful?! It's definitely at the bottom of the list for the f1 board.
How do you deal with the jet lag?
Never really get it. But I buy flatbed seats on long hauls and take a sleeping tablet occasionally if I can’t sleep.
No way they listen to Koven in Mexican peloton class 😂
Are you getting bent over the bonnet with flight costs these days?
100%
Guess the Indian Govt imposing Entertainment Tax on F1 instead of Sports Tax back in 2014 was a Foresight of what F1 will become in the future. F1 has indeed become an Entertainment and FIA made it that way.
Yes it’s no longer a sport just a money making circus.
@@tracymac1111 It's been a money making circus since the 1990s. Let's not kid ourselves.
@@tiadaid I agree but it is blatant in your face now… whereas before there was some respect for the fans. It’s just cheapened itself more recently.
Las Vegas loved it been a couple of times but not paying those price's for tickets a rip off I think will not be good for f1 if too usa races good video though keep em coming
Let’s go Bottas! Thanks for stopping me on the street!
How did you find the video?
@@KymIllman Remembered your name, and subscribed after we spoke. Keep up the good stuff!
Good stuff, Kym! As an American fan, I recognize our friends on the other side of the pond are perhaps less than enthused at the notion of our influence in the sport, but, when one considers some of the financial challenges F1 has faced over the years, I hope they can come around on the idea that American money is ultimately a great thing for the sport in securing a more stable and profitable status. Now the only thing missing are more American teams (including car-makers getting into the action) and American drivers. Cheers!
Agree. I travel abroad fairly often. I get more comments on my Alpha Tauri shirt than anything I own.
Take a peek at the new track being built in Tennessee. Now that is an actual racetrack compared to Miami and Vegas. The design for Miami and Vegas were terrible. Of course it’s just for show boating, but the racing is garbage. COTA is great.
Ticket price is just part of the story, the hotel price is even more ridiculous, for 4 nights on the strip during the weekend is starting from around $2,500…
If you can find a room.
Don’t book on the strip my hotel is a thousand dollars for seven nights
@@Kyle-Russell I'm expecting very bad traffic to getting to the strip/track, as during edc weekend, the traffic is bad, and it will only get even more worst >
I thought the USA dropped all vaccine and testing requirements.
it was aeromexico wanting the vaccine info. none needed in the usa
7:07 The hypocrisy from the European fans really bugs me. I remember when I first got into the sport back in 2009/2010. Long before Liberty Media and DTS came into play, and every single race replay on the F1 website featured celebrities, glitz, glam, partying, jewelry, women, etc. Bernie LOVED showing that stuff off and highly encouraged teams to invite celebrities to be their guests.
ok
Vegas is Vegas. Will end terrible race track like Miami.
“F1 Drivers” hi i want to win checos sign picture
Tks for your informative input. I also worry that more European cities will lose out to the USA. My opinion is also that the celebrity circus in the USA spoils the race. There are just too many celebrities and wannabe celebs on the grid.
The King of F1 GOAT 🐐 LEWIS HAMILTON on the bill board and it beats ELViS
You sure keep a fast past for an older guy. Did you really do that entire spin class? Come on, was it more like 10 minutes? 😁
I did two classes over two days.
I really didn't need the sound in the beginning...
No one needed it. But they all got it
F1 needs to keep races like Silverstone, Spa, Monza but what they do for the rest is up to F1. I appreciate it’s a business but these car park races aren’t sustainable long term. If the racing is poor over time fan attendance will drop and they’ll fall off the calendar. I’d be surprised to see Vegas see out the current 10 year contact. I know F1 hope for big crashes and safety cars on these street tracks to spice up the racing, but they’re 7 years too late, Maldonado left in 2015 so that’s less likely to happen 😅
SPA GP 2021 after die hard fans been sitting in the rain for 3 straight days to eventually have the GP cancelled: - "Its ok we will get to see them for many years to come!"
Miami GP 2022 Venus Williams on her grid walk - Martin Brundle : "Hey Venus you been a F1 fan for long ?"
Venus Williams : "I don't know who you are and don't care to give you 1 second of my life! ...... Goooooo Lewis Ricardo !!!!
Martin Brundle : "You mean Lewis Hamilton ?? "
Venus Williams : "HUH???"
COTA GP 2022 Brad Pitt on his grid walk - Martin Brundle : "Hey Brad can you tell us something about you're new F1 movie ????"
Brad Pitt : "Martin who ??? I don't know who you are get out of my way!"
Brad Pitt PR : " Hey Brad you just ignored F1's Ricky Bobby and one of there most known figures, all while you making a F1 Movie ??"
Brad Pitt : " OOPS .... send him an apology tweet!!! "
FIA - "I think we should cancel Spa soon and go to Las Vegas and race on a oval track !!!"
Every real F1 Fan - "FACEPALMS!!!!!"
Criminal way to start out a video, nearly triggered my fight or flight
I’m a bad man
So sad. You leave and we didn’t got to meet you!
goddamn, i miss travelling. "good riddance", f covid mate.
If someone cannot watch an F1 game from the regular stands for $100, F1 can take it and show it up to it's rear! With the way it is, it already became a thing for the ultra rich or the connected. I was invited to Montreal in 2019 by Pirelli that I could never ever be able to afford myself (5 star hotel, event tickets with paddock access and unlimited meals and champagne). Let's put it this way, I could but I would not! Because it is not worth it. Especially, with the UNFAIR Team Budgets why would I watch Redbull win every race!!!
F1 priced the tickets for high rollers just as they did in Miami. Average fans are unable to attend these events. The ultra rich will need to show up just to be there and they care little about the sport, only that they are seen on social media sites. Not good for the sport. Let's get back to traditional and historical tracks.
F1 is owned by a US company so...
As long as it's a sport and race first I'm ok. If become a fake race and a celebrity garbage I'm out. First of all won't make justice to all great racers who died following a dream.
The problem with the American events, Las Vegas looks like a boring track and Miami wasn’t that great. US has no many good spots for proper racing but won’t use them
F1 is racing, no celebrities, influences allowed unless they are genuinely interested in the sport. Show belongs to US sports, not F1.
I fear you’re going to be disappointed.
^ This , WEC next season is the way forward for many years now top teams are coming back , loads of F1 fans here in the UK are fed up and turning to WEC .
Such a shame to see the demise of a once beautiful sport. Now it’s debased just for the narcissistic rich. Yuk.
F1 is slowly going away from the actual racing.. It's going the way of more of something to be seen at
Bloody yanks, game is gone. One big corporate rollercoaster & cringefest.
