Brawl was great especially for the soft-modding scene after the 'stack-smash' method was developed. So many great mods: Brawl+, Brawl Minus, and of course Project M...all without permanent changes to your Wii and voiding your warranty. Still worth revisiting. The slow, floaty gameplay of Brawl (compared to Melee) and emphasis on casuals may have been disappointing but the mods are so good and fun that they are still played today!
I had a feeling this compilation would come soon, glad to see it happen. Side note, I wonder if Scott managed to figure out Wavedashing without setting the house on fire🤔
Me literally just now: "Hm, what should I put on in the background while I work on stuff?" This video: appears in my notifications Me: "...Yeah, that'll do."
I actually really liked the 3DS circle pad for Smash. It probably also helped that I didn't have a Wii U so I was more used to the 3DS controls when visiting a friend with a Wii U.
Oh man I remember when the Brawl vid first came out and many were piiiiised purely on the vid title alone saying it’s “the worst one” while missing the “apparently” part. Le sigh. These smash vids were fun and I await the day when he’ll do a proper video on Ultimate.
I have a special place in my heart for Event 51 so much to the point that a few years ago I went and beat it with every character. Took me literal years of playing on and off, but it was worth the adventure
Growing up with Smash from the beginning as a casual, Here's a short break down. N64: dumb kid playing with older siblings GC: playing with friends Wii: finding a main 3DS: demo for Wii U Wii U: getting used to the main against friends Switch: finding/perfecting a new main
_Really enjoy this video, while i don't really play the most recent smash- I have SO much nostalgia for the original and melee. Truly a hype time to be a Nintendo fan!_ ❤
One of my fondest memories of Melee was being bored and playing training alone, seeing how much chaos I could cause by spawning as many Pokéballs/Pokémon on screen as possible to obliterate my opponents 😂 talk about killing time as a kid. I was sad to discover there was a set limit on the number you could spawn in future titles... its small stuff like that which change and you may not even notice, but the kid inside me died that day
The one thing I really liked from Brawl was sub space emissary. I remeber going over to my friends house the day the game released and we had a sleepover pulling an allnighter to beat it in one sitting. Peak childhood memory.
Looks like the only mentions of smash ultimate were from the five years of switch vids. With the main game and the dlc fighters being some of the topics.
Scatt's 3 most important contributions to society are 1. His championing of Maddeb 08 2. His consistant shitting on Gex 3. This single quote "this shit is bubonic!" That is all.
I just started playing brawl literally a few days ago. Thanks to the fact that I found a copy at a gamestop of all places, And I can tell you it is immensely fun. Someone who has played exclusively fighter z For about two years, and has only been able To get a chance to play a few nintendo titles, I love this game. I used to play a lot of fighters and always wanted to play smash since I played the Nintendo 64 game, but unfortunately gaming as a whole has gotten ludicrously expensive. And I snagged this copy at about $22 and it has reminded me that gaming in the early 2000s was so much more fun than it is today. Can't wait to get a few friends together and quite possibly learn this game completely, as it feels so much smoother than what little ultimate I have played.
Can we have a compilation of your videos on the Game Boy line of consoles? Pretty pleeeasssssseeee? EDIT: Huh. He really did it......Scott, give me money.
I still have no clue what the hell he means by 'I was the sex bot' at the end of the Melee vid. Like what the hell does that mean in correlation to the game?
55:22 I really like this line, idk why, it’s kinda underrated to me. Every Nintendo fan’s life can be divided into two chapters: before they knew of the Virtual Boy, and after. Just swap out “Virtual Boy” with some Nintendo factoid that’s mildly obscure to outsiders but is common knowledge amongst fans. Like, “did you know that Super Mario Bros. 2 was originally Doki Doki Panic in Japan?”
Hot take, but I don’t mind the fire emblem representation that much. I know that they’re over represented and their play styles are somewhat similar, I understand why people don’t like this. However, this is a play style that I like and am good at using.
So, cool thing about Melee. It had an option to play the game in Japanese, and if you did that and went to the trophy gallery, you could see the original Famicom and Super Famicom. It was the first time I ever saw what those consoles looked like. And the Virtual Boy was there too.
The Smash logo for me always represented a smash attack. It comes with the sound that plays when I whack someone with Ness' homerun bat. Visually it's the effect of a strategically placed hitbox crosshair. #chibiroboforsmash
I remember when I first read something about Smash Bros. 64 in a gaming magazine and that you could unlock a boy named Ness. And my first thought was: "Who in the world is Ness?" Because, well... Earthbound was never released in Europe back then.
I kinda forget all these video are from 2018 so it’s a bit of whiplash between upscale footage of Scott house from the first part of 2018 to Scott current blue paper wall of the second half Yet all these video and the year feel recent like smash ultimate which seems what these video were building up which may date the video but since ultimate got supported until late 2021 feel recent
I like how he skipped ultimate video instead replaced it was with his idea of creating a super smash bros game which is one of his more negative received video
I've owned all the Smash Bros (except for 3DS), and I think the WIi U one is also my favorite. Great roster, features, and HD graphics. I loved my WIi U, unlike most people, so it shares a special place in my heart. I wish I still had my Wii U (sold it when I was strapped for cash). I have a Switch but some asshole stole my copy of Smash Ultimate along with everything else in my backpack (including the backback... luckily my Switch was on me). Ahh, what a great game series.
When the original came out I had moved on past Nintendo at the time (was a huge fan of the NES/SNES but had to follow my JRPGs to Playstation) but I dabbled because the concept was so cool. Of course I put in a ton of Melee time in college but didn't get overly into the series until Brawl. Maybe it's because I was incredibly depressed and isolated socially but I threw so much time into it, not even realizing the reputation until 4 came out. And thankfully by that time my life had gotten so much better so tons of time on the 3DS version and eventually the Wii U title when I got the bundle that included Splatoon. Hope eventually he covers Ultimate as that's what I would consider an almost perfect game, the lack of trophy descriptions being my only disappointment but understandable considering all the game already offers.
I have only owned brawl, and I adore it so thank you for praising my baby even if if failed as a smash game. On another note sonic "His move set is just various spin dashs thats disappointing" look to the left, look to the right, all clear. Have you played sonic? I just am kinda curious what you think he does for like all the really good sonic games?
The most excited I got for Smash was the reveal of Mega Man. I ran out and bought a Wii U and tracked down the amiibo. I ended up selling my Wii U months after cuz it got boring with so few games and I bought one again just before the store closed.
“Smash is a fighting game that anyone can play without memorizing certain button combinations” Bruh it took me 6 months of button mashing to learn the controls wym💀💀the controls are actually pretty complex
53:20 Hey, it could’ve been worse. Pac-Man from the show that was airing at the time, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures was originally going to be in the game. I can’t say i agree with it, But it was nice seeing Classic Pac-Man.
i actually unlock everything in melee and still remember like one of the best thigs i do in gaming, that was when i was like 14 so i had a lot of free time lol
Scott describing anything: the new smash brother game was terrible… it wasn’t bad… I had fun… but it sucked. I love coming back to it because it was a great game with a ton of flaws that ruined the game”
My next idea for what I think would be great in a smash sequel/reboot. Revamp young link, make him Majora’s Mask link. While his moveset will remain mostly unchanged, down Special is now a Pokémon Trainer style except it’s Link, Goron Link, and Zora link. Also fix Gannondorf. Boom. Best smash game

I was proven that there is before I finished writing the comment.
just keep the volume low or have watched these since high school & memorized their sounds
I wonder if he's gone insane since he hasn't done Switch 6 years in. The 5 year in video he clearly showed signs of mental breakdown.
I have such fond memories of me and my best friend unlocking all the Melee characters, took forever but was SO much fun.

BACK IN MY DAY Smash 1 came out when I was a kid
Super Smash Bros Melee is the most fast paced and the most beautiful game of the series.
Now, you see, Brawl’s colours were muddier… because it was 2008, and darker and edgier was all the rage back then.
Gears of War made dark brown cool.
