Billy Joel is a living legend. He has had so many sold out shows at Madison Square Garden year after year. I could listen to Billy Joel songs all day long 🔥🔥🔥
This tune is in one of my playlists that I sleep to. So smooth and easy. Love the sax. Another one of my many Joel favorites was a 45rpm b-side called Honesty.
It's an interesting coincidence that you reacted to Billy Joel right after reacting to "N.Y. State of Mind" by Nas, because Joel has a great song with a near identical title. I recommend that for your next Joel reaction: "New York State of Mind". The vocal is influenced by Ray Charles, and it has lots of saxophone, in addition to just being an all-around great song. And yes, The Stranger is a great album; every song on it is good.
Piano Man unico artista che ha solo gioielli nel suo repertorio... Altri artisti hano pezzi molto belli ... Ma decine di pezzi inascoltabili ... W Piano Man 🎹👏🎹👏
Jovaughn, you are on a roll today!! Billy's "The Stranger", "All About Soul", and "You May Be Right" are next for you!!. This album 'The Stranger' is in my all-time Top 5. The great Phil Woods on saxophone.
@@justindoplayer1516 I think he reviewed Piano Man. It brought tears to his eyes. I'd almost forgot that it did that to me also the very first time, as it did everyone. In a music college Q&A, Joel said that he couldn't leave the song out or some schlub would be wailing "PIANO MAN!!!" down in front of the stage. LOL
👍🏼 This album is one of my favorites of all time. (Up there with Rumours for me.) Song fact: Paul McCartney delivered high praise for this song, said it's one of the few songs he wished he had written.👌🏼 Btw his voice. No one really praises his voice but his vocals are always outstanding!!
This is a classic by the piano man! I love this song. It has a simplistic feel of true love saying don't make it hard, I don't need all the extras, I just want you & you don't need to change for me. To me this is how couples can be married 50+ years . My grandparents were married 53 years w/6 children, 5 grands & 7 great-grands. ❤❤
My favorite Billy Joel song, 15 years old and a freshman in highschool. Ahh the memories, they would play this at the school dances and you would scramble to find that special girl to dance with. This was best decade growing up, gotta get that album for my collection. The song was featured in a TV series called James at 15. Now this is music by a great artist. 💛💜
Saw Billy Joel in the 80s. I waited in a line to get tickets and wound up on the nosebleed back row. My mom went down day of the concert got scalped and sat in floor seats.
this album, The Stranger, was released in 1977 and it was a huge hit, with 4 hit singles that all were in the Top 40. It's one of those perfect albums, like Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, where every song is amazing and you can listen from start to finish and not skip any songs. Please listen to the whole album.
Billy Joel is such a relatable Artist. It's so easy to gravitate to his music. You should give a listen to more of his music if you can. His music makes you really think, relate, feel, etc...
He's one of the greatest imo...... memories of my daddy singing it at home when I was wee, my daddy has a powerful voice. Parents introduce us to some wonderful artists, a proper musical education.🎶❤️
Billy Joel has hit after hit after hit. It is nearly impossible to pick a favorite; but, if pushed p, I’d have to go with Only the Good Die Young. And, yes, without a doubt, a sax 🎷 just makes a song sound better.
He had two of the best saxophonists that played on many of his albums, Ritchie Canata who played on the Stranger and a up to the Nylon Curtain album, then for the last 35-40 years Mark Rivera on all albums and live shows since about 1981.
The best at the keys are Billy Joel and Elton John ! I love the meaning of the song. If you meet somebody and they want to change you, something is very wrong ;)
You could probably react to a Billy Joel song each week and never get through his catalog of hit songs. He spans so many decades with hits it's insane!
One of the things that always sticks in my head with this song is the steady background ah’s that seem to go throughout the whole song. Must be a synthesizer sound but sounds like background singers. Great tune.
It is actually Billy himself doing the ahs and his producer at the time Phil Ramone got him to hold the note for as long as he could and then the recording of it was repeated back to back several times for one long continuous effect. It had been done a little earlier too by 10cc on their song I'm Not In Love.
I love Billy Joel! This song is a very rare one for me where I loved both the original and the remake, which was by Barry White. Both are worth listening to
I loved watching you react to this song. Since I love this song so much, watching you take the time to appreciate it was like having someone enjoy something I love with me. You see it holds special memories for me and my hubby of 42 years. I'm a woman btw.
Billy Joel is what I call a musical poet with a cracking voice..please try and review The Downeaster Alexa its about the Bay fishermen of New York..Leningrad..She's always a woman and Honesty... to be honest ANY Billy Joel song is a banger..he has never made a bad one..oh yes The night the lights went out on Broadway..itd EPIC !!.. Can you tell I'm a fan..I'm gutted I've never got to see him in concert ..thank you for listening to MASTER at work..🇬🇧💞🙏✝️👍👏👏
This song is such a beautiful B.J. classic! He's a talented man, and there's no mistaking that very distinctive voice of his. "SHE'S ALWAYS A WOMAN" and "ALL FOR LEYNA" are two more tracks that You might want to add to Your list of Billy Joel songs to react to as well, Jay!
The saxophone and cowbell...never enough of either in a song. Seriously though, Billy Joel is a national treasure at this point in his life and career.
I so agree with you about the saxophone, it has such a mellow sound and makes a song somehow smoother. Billy has a wonderful voice and this song shows it so well. Terry and I danced to this and the dance floor was full where before there was only a few people dancing when this came on there were few sitting down. I loved watching your reactions to this song, it seems to me that you not only listen you also feel the song and that is wonderful sweetheart. Now Terry is home and I must go so farewell for now. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
Ahh, a classic. Such a great songwriter. And his tone and inflections. Lovely, effortless. Smooth, he is. Love that he goes into so many genres. His classical piano compositions are really impressive. You need to listen to "She's Got a Way"! EDIT: Your comments about the sax...there was a time when it was popular in the bridges of many songs, and was featured as an instrumental solo; especially when Kenny G was so popular. Then it became unfashionable. I freaked out when Lady Gaga put it in "The Edge of Glory". It was a fantastic touch, and as you say, it totally elevated the song and the mood.
I listened to this album and 52nd Street over and over again. Love Billy, but I was even more crazy about Richie Cannata on saxophone. Got to see him in 1979. Still remember standing on the seats during "Big Shot."
Nice reaction, he has so many hits and great songs, you can do reactions forever. Try River of Dreams, I goto Extremes, All About Soul, and I could name at least 10 more hits easy.
The title track called "The Stanger" is awesome, as is "Only The Good Die Young," "Movin' Out" and "She's Always a Woman." "Just the Way You Are" was Billy Joel's first Top 10 hit and reached No. 3 on the Billboard magazine pop singles chart in 1977.
Yes, finally playing some more Billy Joel. Please react to him and Ray Charles duet. He wrote Just the Way you Are for his first wife before Christy Brinkley.
Oh, Billy is such a classic! One minute thought-provoking another song, romance. Each song reflecting "Every Man", our human commonalities woven into a tapestry of music & talent. Thank you for letting me really hear this one again!
That silky smooth sax was a special guest - jazz legend Phil Woods. Joel's usual sax player was his regular band mate, Richie Cannata, who's plenty good in his own right but Phil Woods is just next level and I'm pretty sure Richie would say the same. If you're ever in the mood to check out some great jazz, do check out Phil's stuff - the man swings HARD.
It's the most beautiful song ever written.
The whole album is hit after hit. "Only the Good Die Young" is a must listen.
The sinners are much more fun!
Yes please
My absolute favorite of his (and he was my favorite artist as a teen). I know the words by heart!
YES!!!🇨🇦❤️
Please react to Billy Joel: -She's Always a Woman to Me -Thanks!!!
Great song agreed
Seen Billy in concert Las Vegas MGM Grand .I was in high school in 77 . Oh memories
Love me some Billy Joel Jovaughn. 🤎🤎🤎🖤🖤🖤
Billy Joel
Keeping The Faith
Goodnight Saigon live
You May be Right
I want to throw in: Matter of Trust, You're only Human,..and the most just goes on!
His voice is absolute gold. "She's Got a Way," will move you to tears. His ability to capture emotion with words is simply genius. 🙌🏾💕
Billy Joel is a living legend. He has had so many sold out shows at Madison Square Garden year after year. I could listen to Billy Joel songs all day long 🔥🔥🔥
A MUST HEAR,, BILLY JOEL "THE STRANGER"
You need to listen to the whole album from beginning to end in the order it was recorded. It tells a story! I love Billy.
This tune is in one of my playlists that I sleep to. So smooth and easy. Love the sax. Another one of my many Joel favorites was a 45rpm b-side called Honesty.
One of his most beautiful songs
I think pqbupt the first? Remember hearing it on the radio I think in '83.
Great album! You gotta listen to Vienna. That's my favorite Billy Joel song.
Honestly, who doesn't want to be loved this way? Beautiful song, and definitely a classic.
A very beautiful song ❤❤❤
Vienna was Billy Joel’s favorite song. Written at a time of much reflection about his family.
Please React to "Billy Joel - Pressure - Moving Out - You may be Right - Only the Good die young"
Classic Billy Joel.
Put this song on. Take her in your arms. Start slow dancing. It's all over. Thanks Billy!
AND SO IT GOES, NEXT PLEEEEZZZE 🤗
It's an interesting coincidence that you reacted to Billy Joel right after reacting to "N.Y. State of Mind" by Nas, because Joel has a great song with a near identical title. Yeah that threw me off. Had to do a double take.
Piano Man unico artista che ha solo gioielli nel suo repertorio... Altri artisti hano pezzi molto belli ... Ma decine di pezzi inascoltabili ... W Piano Man 🎹👏🎹👏
Some Billy Joel song suggestions - "Honesty", "Allentown".
Love Billy Joel. One of the greatest artists of the 70's. One of his most classic tunes.
One of the best artists of all time!
My first Billy Joel album I ever bought. Still have the vinyl
Same, and same! I still play it
Simplemente.....MARAVILLOSO TEMA!
Lo Amo desde aquél año 1978!!
Vienna is one of my favorites by him. Honesty, an innocent man, stiletto, and about 100 more
Jovaughn, you are on a roll today!! Billy's "The Stranger", "All About Soul", and "You May Be Right" are next for you!!. This album 'The Stranger' is in my all-time Top 5. The great Phil Woods on saxophone.
Love "All about soul"! "And so it goes" is beautiful too!
You just reminded me of MY LIFE ... How could I forget, I play it myself on the piano 🎹
Is in my top 5 too spent many hours with it on the stereo in my youth! Another vote for the Stranger to be next💕
And of course "Piano man"

agreed. Such an underrated vocalist!
10cc (I'm Not in Love) vibe with the backing vocals.
Tracking loops✌👍
Speaking of 10cc, Jay should check out "Dreadlock Holiday ', he might be "caught off guard ", 😁
Yes!
This was his first hit in the US. His voice was so different then. One of the living legends for sure!!
I bought this fantastic album when it was released! Love it!

Ironically he wrote this for his first ex-wive. So much for lasting relationships.
If you love sax, listen to Dusty Springfield's, The Look of Love. Great song.
Billy Joel THE STRANGER! Go there!
Love your expressions, verbally and otherwise 👌🏻
I love you just the way you are 😁
My favorite Billy Joel song, 15 years old and a freshman in highschool. Ahh the memories, they would play this at the school dances and you would scramble to find that special girl to dance with. This was best decade growing up, gotta get that album for my collection. The song was featured in a TV series called James at 15. Now this is music by a great artist. 💛💜
One of the truly great albums! It gets lost in the discussion of greatest albums of all time but it deserves a seat at that table.
One of his best.
Saw Billy Joel in the 80s. I waited in a line to get tickets and wound up on the nosebleed back row. My mom went down day of the concert got scalped and sat in floor seats.
Nice reaction. When you can check out "A Matter of Trust". His wife at the time makes a cameo appearance with their baby daughter.

Billy Joel my favorite! Listen to his master classes.
" You May Be Right " is next favorite after piano man from Billy ✌️♥️
One of the most beautiful songs ever written
My most favorite song from Billy Joel.
Jayvee Billy Joel's New York State Of Mind is an all time classic. An absolute must!!!! Trust Me
Billy Joe's what a fantastic voice. another great song is
"Always a woman to me"
Love Billy Joel . absolute legend. Even tho some of these songs have been over played over the years
Haven't heard this since I was a kid but my mind recalled all the lyrics like it's the late 70's
Great songwriter, great singer, much underated!!🤔🤔🇬🇧
Billy Joel has hit after hit after hit. It is nearly impossible to pick a favorite; but, if pushed p, I’d have to go with Only the Good Die Young. And, yes, without a doubt, a sax 🎷 just makes a song sound better.

Anything by Billy Joel is great, but this is definitely one of my favorites along with “She’s got a way!”
One of his and your best!!!
Never was Billy Joel fan, but this song is masterpiece.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever.

The album’s title song The Stranger is also awesome.
Amazing artist. He is an iconic songwriter. This whole album is fantastic. ❤️
My husband and I were married in 2011. This was the song for our first dance. It is timeless and so very beautiful. I knew you would love it ♥️
A great song, a beautiful voice. I love it. 🎷🎷
I love Billy Joel!

I've always said I've never physically been to New York City but I have listened to enough of Billy Joel songs to have been there in my mind.
Love this song. My favorite BJ song is “She’s Always A Woman”, but this one, “Piano Man”, and “Only The Good Die Young” are also great.

Yes 👍 🌹 Stranger is another good one from this album
This video made me think I need to buy this on vinyl. I bet it would sound warm and cozy.
Love this song! Haven’t heard it in a long time.

And using Clarence Clemmons from the E Street Band showed the influence of those times. Bring back the sax!
I listened to this album and 52nd Street over and over again. Love Billy, but I was even more crazy about Richie Cannata on saxophone. Got to see him in 1979. Still remember standing on the seats during "Big Shot."
Billy Joel/The Stranger
Love love LOVE this song!!!❤️. And I love it when you close your eyes enjoying the music and you sing along, Jovaughn❤️❤️
You bring back songs that I had forgotten about. All the good memories come flooding back.
Nice reaction, he has so many hits and great songs, you can do reactions forever. Try River of Dreams, I goto Extremes, All About Soul, and I could name at least 10 more hits easy.
