The love isn't the same and he clearly told Governor Perry something along the lines that he knows that Jamie seeks his approval and thats how they can control him. He may care for him in his own way but not the same as he does Kaycee and Beth. If they (Beth) would stop pushing him so much and stop trying to drive more of a wedge and make John hate him, there would be less problems and they'd be unstoppable. What Jamie did to Beth when they were kids idk if I could ever forgive that but Beth takes that anger and grudge way too far and SHE is the biggest threat to the family because of that. Even if Jamie were to do something against the family, she is the behind it. I like her and Rip mainly because Rip deserves happiness etc but she's a problem.
They both were young when she asked him to get rid of it. I don't think he understood with what being sterile ment and what they would do. In season 5 so far, it seems that Jamie is working against John but there’s just that one line he says which makes me think he’s actually helping John instead from behind the scenes. Beth is just determined to hate him and make John hate him but what annoys me most aside from her not shutting up about the abortion is the fact that she (and John to a slightly lesser extent) is trying to destroy Jamie’s relationship with Kayce. I also hate that she constantly abuses Jamie but he can’t get her back because she’s a woman. And that we’re supposed to think it’s okay because she’s a woman hitting a man. Double standards and all that. Rip has made it clear that he never wants kids already but watch the writers make him do a complete 180 should Beth tell him about her teenage pregnancy. And even if it doesn't mean harming the child but taking Jamie away from him, a child deserves to have both their parents in their lives especially since Jamie hasn't shown any signs of being any sort of bad father to his son. Beth has the right to be mad but not seek revenge because of it. Especially not on an innocent child, it's not like the kid did anything wrong.

I see a lot of comments about Beth taking it too far with her hate for Jamie... her hate for him is getting old. But, in my opinion she is totally justified in her anger. She trusted him to help her and he robbed her from ever having children. Ever having her own family with Rip. I'm rooting for her revenge. Jamie is a slime ball!
I get her hatred and jamie deserves it. But now she going after his child. That childs mother is innocent and has done nothing to beth. Going after them out of spite for jamie is taking it far. They found a way to make me like her once the reasons for her hatred was explained. But now they are starting to make me hate her again 😒
If that’s the case she should have went to her dad. She went to him, he didn’t go to help her. Hell she still keep on a destructive path that she started. She should have kept her legs closed. Sometimes you need to take blame for what you did. It’s my opinion
