I never tire of this film! I cannot tell you how many times I have watched it with such pleasure! The cinematography, costumes, settings and acting is supreme, as is the directing.
It is fun, but the 1995 series is the best. It is authentic and follows the text of the book where as a 2 hour version has to be reduced to a stylized and simple version.
Isn't it just marvelous? I just watched the whole film again on a flight this week and here I am again. This adaptation is so lively and enchanting; it feels like the camera caught so many little spontaneous moments between all the characters, the way Mary holds her punch cup out of the way of her spazzy sisters with a sour expression, the way Mrs. Bennett is openly gawking at the aristocrats when the music stops. I love that they let Bingley be a bit of a sweet dope. It really captures Austen's warmth and gentle humor.
When she asked him if he could dance and he said no, she left and you can tell he looked disappointed in himself. So the next ball, he goes up to her and asks her to dance. He went out of his way to learn to dance just for her hoping he would impress her. So sweet.
@@Hello-Stoikooh yes, that double take was defnitely attraction, then his snobby thinking better of it took over. He thought her to be below him in status.
I love Jane austen’s writing, the way she forms these characters in a way where you can go into depth of their love language is so interesting. I think that’s what makes it so addicting to rewatch and reread over and over again.
I love this version. When it came out I saw it 4 times in the movie theaters lol. Then have watched it countless times at home. I still love the 1995 version don’t get me wrong but this one is just as wonderful
Wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic! If we could be so joyous and happy once again!! Can this happen? Can be life be so simple and happy? Only we could know!
Nope, unfortunately. Life has a lot of tragedy. Some happy moments, but always fleeting. However, the reward at the end of this vast play, will be worth it. 😉😊
My favorite version of Pride and Prejudice. I went to see it the day it came out in the movie theater. Then I bought the DVD. I think I've watched it 50 times. I love it!
They say romantic movies make you unhappy. I know I feel quite irritated with my husband's shortcomings after watching Mr. Darcy's sweet desperation at the end...
Compare your husband to some of your friends jerk husbands or Ex's. That's reality. Then think of your dating days, how much your husband does for you, how he's sacrificed for you at times. People show love in very different ways.
Some men don't explore the hidden depths of romance they have locked inside. They never realize, what a amazing response they would get from their wife, if they only tried. Romance is fun, and rewarding. Buying a bunch of flowers for no reason except for the sheer enjoyment of seeing the look on your love's face. I hope he comes to life for you.
Yes, I ❤ Kelly Reilly in both! She absolutely makes Yellowstone for me! And Brenda Blethyn as Mrs Bennet is phenomenal. She hid her anger under angst in a very real way! I remember seeing her in an episode of Law & Order: SVU where she was quite remarkable as well🎉
My favourite P&P is the 1995 version, but that was TV series length and was far more true to the source material. As far as film-length versions go, I don't ever see this one being topped.
Agreed, this film was tolerable, i suppose, but the other one has so much more time to flush out the characters. Also, Jennifer can't be beat as Elizabeth.
Really, the class system in Britain was insufferable. How dare they walk in late and everyone stops for them.Caroline Bingly was so up herself .Jane Austen did a brilliant job showing the follies of the average person in that time!
Kiera knightly was a hot commodity, having just been in pirates of the Caribbean. Not my pick for Elizabeth Bennett. Matthew macfayden is a remarkable actor and the quintessential Darcy;
Communities came together and engaged in fun and dance on a dark winter night. Today, there's zero community ( Fraggle Book, FB, does not amount to Community). I wish I had lived in these times, people cared for each other, even if I had been a kitchen maid back then it would have be a good time, tending my herb garden, taking long riverside walks in nature. Sighs dreamily! 😊
Romanizing and having nostalgia for a past you’ve never been part of is very absurd. Most women back then had to marry crusty men against their will but endure for their family. Women also had no rights and died of childbirth… but of course keep pretending that the life you have now is so terrible … that’s just escapism and delulu lol
This is the movie made by people who think Jane Austen wrote romance novels. These characters are laughable and the ending is enough to make me gag. Watch the BBC Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (the quintessential Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet).
I love it. I think it’s more accurate to the time. I like everything about it except the story is hurried. I also wonder about how close the animals are to the house. Maybe average farmers or ethnic groups, but not titled people. The smell would be awful. Even at that time, I don’t think most farmers in the U.S. had their livestock that close. The English version doesn’t hurry the story and I like it too but it’s a lot different. I like the actors in the movie best.
In fact, they are already the richest in the área, but the costume design was bad, they didn't take the Regency Era fashion properly. Here, Kira looks like if she's going to kill a pig, not in a ball.
the worst ridiculous version and the actors over the top with messy hair......the most successful version is the 1995 one with Colin Firth Jennifer Ehle Alison Steadman in a BBC production ... great actors music and costumes they all take you straight in England of the last century
The 1995 series had heaps of screen time so naturally, it was more accurate, however, the 2005 version, being just a FILM is absolutely fantastic.👍👍👏👏😍😍
I much prefer this version ... the chemistry between Mathew and Keira is intense ... The 1995 version is somewhat lack lustre in part because of the lady who played Lizzie without feeling for me

I agree with you and it has to be the 2005 version of pride and prejudice!
When she asked him if he could dance and he said no, she left and you can tell he looked disappointed in himself. So the next ball, he goes up to her and asks her to dance. He went out of his way to learn to dance just for her hoping he would impress her. So sweet.
I’m sure he already knew how to dance, growing up wealthy. He just never cared for it till he met her
@ that’s a good point haha
1:09 I love that double take😍
Do you think he thought she was beautiful? And why did he say she could not tempt him?

My favourite version!! Watched it so many times!!! Won't get tired of it
😅😅
Bc u have probably not seen 1995 Pride & Prejudice BBC with COLIN FIRTH as MR. DARCY! ✨💙thank me later!
There is nothing to admire, they have swallowed the sticks and are stiff like all the English, etc. Im from Slavic culture.
Matthew McFadden is a real Mr Darcy. 🥰
To see Kelly Reilly in this role and now as Beth in Yellowstone is just too much. She has arrived folks!!!

It looks like both of them felt the tension of attraction at first sight.
I think it was love at first sight, but it took a long time for them to admit it.
Not according to the book, however. Mr. Darcy abhorred the first sight of her.
I love this version of Pride and Prejudice. Best Darcy and Lizzy.
Разве ?Фильм 1995 года несравненно лучше.
I believe the BBC production with Colin Firth is far better. The actors seemed far more experienced & the film seemed to follow the book more readily.

Wow...
very, very different interpretations of the character 🤔
From the very first time he looks at her it’s clear he’s taken
Actually I love Austen's stories; that's why I have all her books.
TRULY ........... HOW MANY times do i watch this film AND edits and JUST swoon like a teenager LOL Im Addicted
This my favorite movie of all time. I just love it! And I never get bored.
This movie is timeless such a beautiful film,
I get so caught up in the moment I forget that this is just a clip, and then it's over! The most romantic movie ever. Time to watch it again 💕
When Darcy looks at Lizzie .. this is my favorite part of the movie sigh ❤

The 1996 adaption will never be replaced in my heart. But this version has a lot of charm.
It’s funny to see Kelly Reilly honing her Beth Dutton attitude 15 yrs ago…😂😂😂
Formidable
My favorite version of Pride and Prejudice. I went to see it the day it came out in the movie theater. Then I bought the DVD. I think I've watched it 50 times. I love it!
They say romantic movies make you unhappy. I know I feel quite irritated with my husband's shortcomings after watching Mr. Darcy's sweet desperation at the end...
Concentrate on Mr. Collins (the excellent Tom Hollander) and you will feel better.
Compare your husband to some of your friends jerk husbands or Ex's. That's reality.

Thats because hon you are living in reality,…the movie is fantasy ….at the end lol
You shouldn’t
I just realized the actress Kelly Reilly that plays Beth in Yellowstone is playing Caroline Bingley.
Yes, she also acts as Colton's mother in Heaven is For Real.
A very beautiful woman! Not like in the 1995 series, Caroline Bingley is simply terrifying there!!

What for?
I've watched this movie 25 times and it's exciting every time

The TV person was absolutely brilliant. This film version is a third rate production.

This was so exquisitively filmed.
My favorite movie ever.
So beautifully done
After watching this film, I keep going back watching the 1995 version. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle were still the best.

I loved watching it the main protagonists carrying look of a disgruntled cat and the other one a friendly labrador in the end falling in love 😂😂
What music work is being played between 05:00 and 06:14? It’s so joyful
I started to study english for reading Pride and Prejudice in original. I love very much this movie and book and Jane Austin. I am from Russia

ORGULHO E PRECONCEITO. Lindo filme. Já assisti 3 ou 4 vezes.😍
So many negative bots on this ! Very odd! Normally it’s 99% positive comments
Personally, I think Pride and Prejudice, made by BBC in 1995, is a masterpiece.

Que gran versión!; fantástica! Adoro a Keira ❤
One of my favorite books
I didn’t realize the actress from Yellowstone was in P&P
She was also in one of the Prime Suspects with Helen Mirren as an incorrigible teenager.
Il film mi ipnotizza. Non riesco a staccarmene. In lingua italiana non si potrebbe?
No doubt, this is the best film version of the novel..
Разве?
Still one of my favorite movies. ❤
I like the other version too, with Colin Firth e Jennifer Ehle.
It is a wonderful film.
Love this version!!
Macfadyen no tiene otra película ?
Siempre se nombra esta .
En series y miniseries muy bueno .

Too busy thinking he was above every one else!
Introverts have a tough time in crowds of people they don't know. I love his awkwardness. It's honest, without guile.
