Simple fast and understanding. The type of videos I like to watch right to the point without all the unnecessary talking.. thanks hope you have more videos on this type of model / year
Fantastic and helpful, thank you! From an "Accidental (RUclips) Mechanic"! I'm dealing with an in-law's 1995 Toyota Tercel that is currently in a garage an hour away, now on next visit I'll know how to get the codes for the CEL that is displaying. I might luck out and have this Tercel be one of the 1995's with an OBD2 port, but naw, I rarely get lucky on such things when helping others.
Actually the last one is very common in any Toyota or Lexus that's older than 25 years of age, as these cars age the compasitors in the ecm sort to leak acid and eat the ecm causing the same symptoms as the sensor being bad. Trust me iv damn near rebuilt a whole engine due to and ecm failure thinking it was a sensor issues because I had no check engine light.
I did this this is what I got on my 94 Camry with 2.2 motor. Jumps the two terminals as shown in video. Turned key to on position , two flashes, then a pause,5 flashes then pause, 4 flashes then pause then 1 flash. Then it repeats . I believe the last one is 41 but the first two I’m not sure how to decipher them.🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for the info. Hoping the mechanic checks it out this way. I noticed the check engine light on and within a short time, I was sitting in a parking lot of a fast food resteraunt as the car was idling, I kept it running as I had a bite to eat. All of a sudden the sound changed and I looked at the RPM and it was at 2?! Any idea what that problem could be? PS I have a 93 Corolla. Just bought it, just got out of the mechanics shop today, and within a couple of hours the check engine light was on, then the other problem.
Aloha. In comments below, people say that the engine has to be running for a while before the jump will send codes, which makes sense. But you only said to turn the key to the On position. Is this AFTER running the car for a while? Great videos! Thank you so much!
3 years late but my best guess would be that the engine needs to be warned up and reach normal "running" levels to the sensors for the codes to really mean anything anyway so it's probably a manufacturer thing for that reason if so
@@Slooby Thanks. I ended up putting a whole bunch of new parts into it, and still no startup. I'm pretty sure it was the wiring harness. I had it towed away by one of those cash for your car places who did not pay me cash, because it did not have the original catalytic converter in it. But at least they didn't charge me for towing. I bought a 1992 Corolla wagon for $500 from the sister of a deceased neighbor. I also got a mobility scooter from the VA that I use most of the time to go as far as 2 miles down the road. Thank you for your reply. : )
I have a 92 Camry, had a code 71, ended up replacing the Vacuum switch valve... the engine light doesn’t turn on right after I start the car but it does go on down the road... I tried jumping the diagnose for any new service codes but the check engine light wont flash, could you help me out?
Can you do a video on how to replace the front engine seals on Toyota Camry 1992-1995? Also, can you also do a video on how to replace a leaking power steering pump on Toyota Camry 1992-1995? It would be helpful for me since I own a 1995 Toyota Camry Coupe.
Thanks a lot bro. In my the light does no do that. It just stays on. What could my problem or some step I'm doing it correctly. Could you please help me?
1995 camry the later 95 models were obd2 in behind the change compartment right under the steering wheel on the left.Remove the tray it’s behind there.
How do you resent the idle after changing the battery on a 92 Camry? Is it like the processes for camrys these days, to warm it and switch to on twice and then place in drive with hand brake engaged etc?
my daughter has 94 camry 2200 when she failed smog her hcppm and no ppm were over no check engine light but i tried to jump te1 e1 and the engine light just continual blink please help
I drive C240 2005 ,its making clicking noise when turning to left or right on slow speed ,checked the power steering and front CV axle been changed already , but i noticed the rear transmission mount is damaged ,could this cause that clicking noise (sound like its skipping )or some thing abstracting it and its skipping because of it ,any ideas ?
I am getting so desperate. I'm 70 years old (with a very small fixed income), living in an apartment building that doesn't allow much mechanical work to be done in the parking lot. We can't get my car running. The inspection sticker will expire at the end of the month, which could cause the car to be towed off the lot. I have a 1993 Corolla wagon with a 1.8 7A-FE engine. I didn't know the engine had to be running for a while before doing the check, so we haven't gotten a code. If the car starts, it doesn't stay running for long, except for two occasions when we were able to drive it around the parking lot. The instrument panel is not completely functional, but the CEL came on. It goes off if I remove the pump relay or the VSV (and probably will for other parts), so I replaced them. In all, so far, I've replaced the fuel pump and filter, idle air control, vaccum solenoid switch valve, idle air control, plugs, and plug wires (with non-Toyota parts). The catalytic converter was removed the other day (but not yet replaced, yet). And the throttle body. was cleaned. Nothing has changed. I don't know why the mechanic hasn't done a vacuum check or checked the voltages, yet. I picked up a multimeter and rented a vacuum gauge yesterday to try it myself. I so wish that some of you guys doing these videos lived over here on O'ahu in Hawai'i!
@@a-iu9zO This was over 2 years ago. No. I didn't. The car ended up with a whole bunch of new parts, though. In the end, I had to give up and have it towed away. Later, a neighbor died. I bought her recently registered '92 Corolla wagon from her sister for $500. I'm certain it was a wiring issue, but nobody would check the harness.
I have a 1994 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. The tube or hose going from the air breather had a split , tried to duct tape it but didn't need it ,. I put the other part back on it is clampt down, now the check engine light is on, it still runs rough , and has a noise I can't explain,. It can go uphill with no problems. But something still isn't right. Still has a rough idle. What could be wrong. Note :. When you press the gas pedal there is a strange noise,. Maybe a vacuum leak , I don't know. Maybe someone who has experience in this field, that could explain it.
how do you clear code 14 1992 toyota carmry replaced distributor and igniter code does not go away even if i leave battery disconnected and dont try to start the car. i am suspecting because this code is locked into the ecm the car will not start any ideas
Have a 1995 Camry and tried doing this and had the same problem as you with the light staying on. then I started searching and realized it had an obd2 port bottom left behind the little storage compartment beside the fuse block.
When I connect TE1 with E1 , CEL blinking with out any codes I try to add some errors like disconnect map sensor or TPS or O2 sensor to create any error but nothing work like your car my car is corolla 1994 (4A-FE) , The driver's seat has been changed from right side to left side thanks
Did you start the car and drive it for awhile ? You need to do that first. The car's computer checks the engine system over and over again while its running. If it finds something wrong the check engine light will go on.
@@devilmecare Right? Mine, too! I never knew it had to be running for a while. It makes sense. Mine doesn't stay on for long when it does start, but I'll have to give it a try.

Exactly... no fucking around and good information.
What does it mean if it just flashes quickly over and over and doesn't stop
THANK YOU SO MUCH, been looking for a mechanic to scan my camry's computer, but nobody has the right reader, this was so helpful.
Simple and fast. No need to buy a scanner. I have the same exact car and year. Only thing i would need to know is the trouble diagnostic code numbers.
Excellent no BS tutorial. I just need the pdf now. 😀👌👍
