Absolutely agree. My EDC light is a ProTac 2-lx too because of exactly what you said. Sure, its not the most powerful light, but on high I can easily get over 3 hours of CONSTANT run time on an 18650 battery. Note I say constant; it doesn't get too hot to hold no matter how long its been on. The same light I use at work is the same light I carry out and about, so I need something both tactical and practical. It's the perfect balance.
I found a Protac -2L Not an LX over 12 years ago on a range in the grass. I have carried it since and it's never failed me. Finish is worn, but I won't get rid of it. I am stuck with 123's but thats ok it still has a great long run time. I added a large o-ring to the clip for easy access and to assist when using as a weapon light.
