      How do you find the whole built in battery vs non built in trend, seems like a deal breaker to many.

    • @christianfox7404
      @christianfox7404 5 месяцев назад +5

      Mixed feelings about the trend but it is not a deal breaker. On the one hand, generally we are accustomed to changing out batteries. On the other hand, lithium batteries (depending on its chemistry) last quite a long time and honestly for the price point of this EDC and the options it provides, not a bad deal. You will always have the die-hards that will want to change out the battery and we'll stay away from this EDC. I understand the rationale. However, also understand having the battery built in, not accessible. It'll have better connectivity and probably better water resistance. Nothing lasts forever so I don't mind the concept of a built-in battery, recycle it when it is defunct. The fact of the matter is, if one wants a built-in battery, then purchase a flashlight that has one, no problem. If one wants to try out something new, give this a shot. Just my two cents.

    • @grinsefalle
      @grinsefalle 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@NitecoreSG The built in battery something to consider. The flashlight itself seem quite decent regarding UI and output, the battery is mixed bag. If the battery fails or if the charging port malfunctions, there is no way to use it in this particular situation, you need a backup light. And you can't use the flashlight with a second battery, while the first on is charging.. So it depends on your usage of this flashlight - and i can understand both sides of the deal-breaker-question..

      For me, the edc33 is and edc and self-defence light, so for this purpose I don’t mind a built-in battery. For lights that I would use for longer periods, like camping or hiking, I prefer a replaceable battery to enable longer run time. Horses for courses - you can’t do everything with one light.

    I love that Nitecore doesn't go for the million different colour options. These are just features that benefit the user. This is exciting in itself and appreciated. From reaching for a light half asleep when you hear a bump in the night. To carrying on duty as I do having dual beams will be amazing. Thank you for all your efforts making lights for users.

    • @dr.oetqer
      @dr.oetqer 5 месяцев назад

      @@danielc.1169 I think that those colors are nice to choose from and have, but for most situations a somewhat (boring looking) black flashlight, with the right specs and UI, will be all you need. Nonetheless it would be nice if they can offer different colors and color temperatures (neutral white) when a particular model becomes popular.

      You do not have both beam, its kinda gimmick, I have the 33. You can only use flood in 1300 or higher lumens, that is when you dont want it and you cannot have flood only, with no hotspot. Like inside a house, or reading, or inside a car, you want a low lumens flood, but NO, nitecore locked the flood in just high and turbo. So all situations you benefit from a spread low light, you cannot benefit. Low - no flood, ultra low - no flood, mid - no flood, high - flood but it gets really hot and dims, turbo too. So nitecore puts flood only where the light cannot handle it properly. Kinda gimmick, its a spot flashlight with some auxiliary flood leds, YOU CANNOT HAVE ONLY FLOOD, OR LOW FLOOD

    i really like this one. I think it would sell better if it had a replaceable battery but then again you gotta drive like 9 leds, provide 4000 lumens with 55k cd with a 4000mah 18650... Pretty crazy numbers for such a small light. Its not like you can buy a cell that can do that right now anyway.
    I havent tried the tailswitch yet but the olight warrior models had a similar implementation and ive been a huge fan of the concept. Makes a tactical light still super easy to use. Also like the lockout feature and the battery indicators...
    Not for everyone i suppose but very innovative for sure. Id love to use this when im working night shift, maybe ill pick one up

      @@ChiseledChin hmm fair enough. Mine works fine, I have a m2r warrior and warrior x4. I guess it's subjective to some degree, maybe contact olight and try to get a new model, almost sounds like you got a lemon. The nitecore implementation does seem different tho. It has a rubber boot which will be more resistant to dirt and such.
      Then again I like the metal tailswitches as well, my edc33 will arrive tomorrow, I'll see what it's like.

      Capacity has nothing to do with the cells ability to supply a sustained high current draw. Seriously, there are plenty of cells that can power this light already on the market, they just don't want you using them. I remember back in the day, some flashlights didn't even COME with a battery!!! You had to supply your own!

Just got mine and what I like about it is because of the dual stage switch one actually has three different outputs of lighting with a single press of the button if you have your regular mode set to medium and you click the light on you have a nice medium light, but you can also have for us to get a higher powered Spotlight or full price for the 4000 Lumen temporary flood. I also like the four-level battery indicator instead of Nightcore's Old Blue Light which meant nothing and the ability to tail stand is nice and the light is small. I also like the side lockout switch. Well done Nightcore on this one. And the bean has a nice white tint.

    I usually bike and visit places especially after work 5pm (I live in province with minimal to none road lights) which gets dark quite quickly. I love how short this EDC 33 only at 4.5 inches long and 100+ grams which can easily be strapped to my bike to act as bike light (The flooding is great as well as the ribbings on its body for the rubber straps to secure them). I can then remove the flashlight and use it as EDC flashlight to explore the wilderness as well as protection with the Lumin Shield if there are robbers who might want to mug me. I hope this model becomes available soon here in the Philippines.

    I'm really looking forward to the further iterations of similar lights. Instead of a mixed beam in normal operation mode, I'm actually hoping for dual beam patterns in normals operation modes with different power settings, like low, med and high for spot and flood beam patterns respectively. I think that would be a perfect edc light, something like a switch like the lock out switch to flip from spot to beam. Sometimes l'd like a pure flood / spot depending on the situation, not necessarily at 4000 lumens.

    Coming from the EDC27, this light looks VERY promising. From the tailcap functions, the lockout and size.. this light should be King! Out walking the dogs i run into some strange people and situations. The SHEILD will be crucial for dealing with these unknown scenarios :)

    I worked in maintenance and I always carry 2 things 2 types of multitool or small tools and a flashlight. Now I carry nitecore SRT7i because of its versatility. But some of my peers find the UI clumbersome and the size of the torch is so big. Multitools can be handy for a quick fix. But to pair that wiith a much better flashlight its like again a swiss knife. If closeup I dont need the spotlight. The big problem with spotlight is that even with the SRT7i ring the hotspot is so bright your eyes gets tired and painful because of the hotspot. I also own the P20iX and P10iX. Tried to experiment but sometimes you need both spot and flood for certain applications. With this small and compact plus one button operation its not clumbersome. No more carrying headlamp + Floodlight + standalone flashlight like the SRT7i. Its pocket friendly and easy to carry. Paired with a multitool small jobs cannot be as easier done. Floodlight is for closeup and spot is for far away lighting. It can increase my productivity because easy fixes dont need large bulky tools.

    Okay, not a fan of the non-removeable battery. But I literally love everything else about this light. Wish you uploaded this video a month earlier. Already spent a ton of money for Christmas. But, I think I can dig up the funds to get the EDC 33.

    Spot & flood, lets go! I really like the new lock out switch as well, one less press on the ui. Not a fan of the proximity sensor, i think it takes away from the flashlight. Does the 1200 lumen step down at a certain point or 1200 till out? Thanks for the review

    Very informative video which is great. I just started carrying the Olight Warrior 3S and I am curious how it would stand up. Granted the Olight is only 2300 lumens but from I am seeing here the Olight seems the better. I will have compare the run times that is a major factor.

    I like the idea of this. I do a lot of inspections at night, both close and far distance, and im still using the MH12S for 100% of my needs. The reason i am not sold on this is the same reason why i don't use Olight. The half press in my opinion is not the best idea and not as easy to use as other brands in my opinion. I would replace my MH12S for this if the tail switch was a different design.

    Great light, some awesome unique features just wish the modes were flipped. The main brightness levels should be with the floodlight and the spotlight only comes on the brightest level as a spotlight or with the floodlight for that Lumin Shield

    Q: Will the Nitecore tactical ring fit on the EDC 33? Or would the position of it make it obsolete? I see the area where the clip fits so wondering if the tactical ring would work positioned there? Thx in advance for any advise/tips

    I hate to say it, but olight really has the best UI for EDC lights. Lockout is easy. Immediate access to moonlight or turbo mode depending on situation. Memory setting is on point also.
