  • I have not bought a Halloween costume from a store in years, so in this video I'll be reviewing this Spirit Halloween Corpse Bride costume and then making my own version. I'll be attempting to improve upon Spirit Halloween's version. I've always LOVED Tim Burton's: Corpse Bride and this is my DREAM Project. come along if you too like The Corpse Bride and Halloween Costumes.

respect that you didn't just spend the first half roasting the spirit costume (which would have been easy to do).. of course store bought can never be as good as homemade, but let's be honest most women/girls don't have the time/skills to make something like yours, so it's pretty cool that you gave an honest take instead of trying to make it look bad in a misguided attempt to make yours look better (which is what i feel like a lot of ppl would do). 🙏

Former face and body painter here. For a body paint that you will be running around outside and sweating in, I would use a powder based face and body paint. Most people would suggest an airbrush and liquid paint that is set with powder after painting, but if it isn’t something that you will be doing a lot, that would be too costly in my opinion. A good powder based paint from Mehron or Ben Nye will be much more affordable and easy to use for what you want to do with it, and they will hold up for a photo shoot and a few hours of filming.

It looks great on you- actually both versions do. If I was ever doing anything like it, I would probably paint the whole thing grey and use blue effects, to me it sounds more realistic- nothing would ever stay even somewhat white 6 feet under the ground. it would be actually cool to have a non-ripped version of it- like a corpse bride if she weren't an actual corpse.
and I think you would look cool in a Pirates of the Caribbean outfit.

I love that you just casually make a corset. Epic! It looks so good!
*PS. I actually do like grease paint for a good deep black because a lot of the water based blacks don't look dark enough. But I do mostly water based then put the black grease paint in the darkest spots to limit the messiness. Like for Day of the Dead I use the grease for most of the eye socket (but also blend into regular eyeliner so I don't get it in my eye) and on my nose, but I use water based black for cheek hollows and for the white and then cheap eyeliner for the teeth lines.

this turned out really awesome, the painting on the dye worked super well
(I’ll have to remember that technique). I’m not a cosplayer at all but the one time I did have to color my body I used sunscreen with food coloring and I think it worked out pretty well, and it was cheap, but it was a little on the greasy side…. You probably aren’t looking for suggestions for more costumes to make but I think you could do a really awesome Xena warrior princess reimagining. Anyway love the videos, keep them coming!

I agree with others about the water activated paint, mehron & ben nye are both pro level brands, and that type of paint has less chance of rubbing off on your beautiful costume and staining it. For the skeleton arm, maybe make a black “sleeve” from a stocking and paint the bones on that? (Like your leg stocking). Better coverage, deeper blacks, and will cut back on your paint usage. Beautiful costume! I’m so inspired!

I love Tim Burton and his films Your handmade outfit is incomparably better than the one you buy. First of all, you took care of compliance with the original and this attention to detail is admirable. You have a great talent, girl, and I know what I'm talking about, because I deal with art myself, but not designing and sewing costumes, but plastic arts, so I can appreciate real talent. This buy-in costume is a tacky cheesy, and on top of that, it wasn't too similar to the original and yet. Not everyone can make a Halloween costume by themselves. I greet and wish you lots of success. You are super!!!

Your costume is stunning! For makeup, you could have used your normal foudation, go over it with translucent powder, then brush on blue, gray, black and purple eyeshadows with a blush brush. Then seal it with a setting spray! Grease paint gets everywhere and stains.

OMG you are so so so talented! I love your version of the dress. I can't sew to save my life but I'm really good at fx painting. The best waterproof option would be an alcohol ( activated) base paint but it's expensive and better for smaller things like bruises, scrapes, decay....you get the picture. It's also a little hard to get off but not impossible. Then you have your water based (activated) like Mehron paradise. With this one you can easily do the whole body. The trick is to apply it alittle thick or brightness of color that you want. Since it's water activated if you keep going over it, it will thin the color. Let it dry completely between coats (if you adding details or another color on top) then use a setting spray. This holds up pretty well but can be expensive. A cheaper option I have found is to get some highly pigmented eyeshadows and mix with a matte long wearing foundation. Find a white ( manic panic) or any porcelain colored foundation and mix with the eyeshadow. This works really well as an alternative. Hope this helps some.

  • @BelindaShort
    @BelindaShort Год назад

Bodypaint- It all depends on how you prefer your makeup. If you do a cream, the mehron cream is pretty good, so is their water soluble makeup, but that would take a spray set, whereas the cream can be set with powder. Both tend to be messy though. A lot of people opt for a bodysuit. I have mehron water activated body paints and they do work well, you just need to get the right consistency to get it on, and it's best to work quickly so you don't end up with streaks.
If you can manage an airbrush and learn to keep it just plain steady, you can do body makeup much more easily and faster. It makes for a really good even application.
    Great video =)

If I want to go for unnatural skin shades I usually just swap out my standard contour colour with an eyeshadow of the desired colour and then blend blend blend with my foundation shade. For highlight areas, I use white setting powder, shadow with a translucent setting powder then top up with more eyeshadow if it needs it. It's a very "trust the process" process, but it DOES work, I promise!

  • @joannwall6333

Beautiful job! If you use grease paint, you have to set it with powder. Some people use baby powder, and every part of the paint has to be powdered. We use big puffs for clown makeup. I would suggest powdering one color at a time. I never thought of making this costume. I am now. Very inspiring!

It’s made to be applied with an airbrush machine but if you don’t have one it’s very messy and kinda wasteful but technically you can apply it directly to the skin with a sponge or your hand.
