The laptop seems old, the CPU may be bottlenecking the SSD's potencials!
I have a MX300 and I get speeds of 550 to 600 MB/s on both read and write, and the same improvement goes for the rest of the tests.
It may be significant in some tasks.
I had the experience of installing the MX500 on an much older PC than mine and it was awful. Similar to this video.
It is just a reminder for people who want to buy one.
It can still bring you older PCs back to life tho (which was why I installed the MX500), but you wont get its full potencial.
Still worth the buy if you have an HDD! 100%!
But as soon as the CPU starts to process something, the potencial of the SSD is lost.
Which is kinda weird, usually its the CPU who waits for the memory, nor the opposite

Nice. Thanks for video. Was just looking at these two drives and wondering the difference. Only like 5 bucks difference for the faster one for me on amazon. . Guess i will go with the MX500 500 gig.

Chci se zeptat. Vzít MX30 275gb nebo mx500 250gb. Potrebuji do notebooku nahradit plotnovy disk. Hlavní parametr je rychlost a spolehlivost a samozřejmě stabilita aby do budoucna vydržel. Jsem programátor a dělám s CADem jako Autocad
Pokud nepotřebujete více místa, vemte mx500 a budete spokojen. ;-)

weak laptop, my old build would boot faster than it using a simple hdd. With my mx500 it should fly
Don't know why but my pc with normal HDD starts win10 in just 20 seconds I have i5 8th gen 8gb ddr4 ram I think your processor is slower so when testing HDd/SSD processor matters too...
My guy I know this is a year ago but how did you not know that the ssd\hdd is what affects loading times\boot times
mx500 57% filled takes a big hit on performance. mx300 is only 27% filled. they should both be at 75%. then run the benchmark. i bet both will be very slow.
Good comment. For sure, you are right! Both drives are not same capacity (only same copy of system and files). It's only for example, both very similar speeds. If you buy mx300, you get some more space, if you buy mx500, you get litle bit faster drive (and difference new writing system).
Man this is a big gimmick on ssds, you should keep them 60% filled at max for speed and longetivity :(

Zrovna mám v košíku MX500 M.2 500GB, ale rozmýšlam ešte nad Intelom 545s. Už šiesty rok mám starý Intel 320s 80GB a zatial frčí bez jediného problému.
A to máte M.2 patici na 6 let starem HW? Myslím, že půjde jenom o SATA konektor 😉
Zdeněk Málek : Nie, ten pôvodný Intel je ešte v aktuálnom PC - i5 2500k + Asus Z-68 a je samozrejme pripojený pomocou SATA. Skladám ale nový itx PC na platforme AMD a čím menej bordelu od káblov v nej bude, tým lepšie. Takže beriem už rovno M.2, i keď pravdou je, že ak počas roka cena ešte klesne, tak prikúpim aj klasickú 2.5-ku 1TB, pretože platnu v tej skrinky už nechcem. Intel ma nesklamal, ale je malinko drahší a myslím, že ono ani ten Crucial nebude zrovna špatny. Skôr budú zrovnateľné.
@@miroslavpaulovic17 Rozumim. Pokud lze do noveho M.2, je to jasna volba, min. na OS. Prace s tim bude radost 😉👍
For now a mx500 is more than enough for me. If my 3D files start to get big, then the speed will matter and ill get a NVME drive.

I own a Crucial M4 128GB alive and running 12H pe day since 2013 and never a problem. S.M.A.R.T is ecelllent still.
I'm mean I think the mx500 has like 320Terabyte write limit so unless your working with video editing ya should be good
Mx 300 is beter.
