Would you recommend this SSD to me in a build were not much writing will be don? I want an ssd that will last me at least 3 years.
1st Acc For sure. Their clone software Acronis is perfect, disk is stable and very fast. Recommend!
Do you have format this drive in order for it to work though? Many people tell meI should, I plan on getting the M.2 version of the mx300 if it turns out to not be true
1st Acc I didn't format it. This is not in official instructions. Only Acronis made clone disk to clean SSD. Thats all. Get here some feedback of M.2 MX300. Good luck 😉

Does it work for Desktop?
For sure, that it works! You need get information about your motherboard. If you have SATA connectors on your motherboard, you need only on free power cable (bigger connector on SSD drive) and SATA cable for data (smaller connector on SSD drive). If you haven't 2.5" attach in case, you need to buy bracket for SSD to 3.5" space.
Drive has same speeds like in laptop and i would only recommend! Good luck.

It is "crucia"l for all the friends that their hard disk is slow that they first defrag it with some program like Diskdefrag or the windows tools and then they do the test of the video, then microsoft word will not delay 50! seconds but 10 ;) another in spanish for my latin race:
es crucial para todos los amigos que su disco duro esta lento que primero lo desfragmenten con algun programa como Diskdefrag o de la herramientas de windows y despues hagan el test del video, entonces microsoft word no demorará 50! segundos sino 10 ;)
Aunque un ssd le pegará un aceleron, estoy de acuerdo
