Thank you for your sweet comment :) The fabrics really were prettier than I thought they would be :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I bought a couple of really big rag rugs at 5 below for $5. One was denim and the other one was multi colored. I love rag rugs! I never thought about taking them apart to craft with😊
Thank you for your sweet comment :) It is a really good way to get many colors and fabrics for a reasonable price. And it is fun to see what you get when you open them up, just like Christmas, LOL :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Amy, the Styrofoam balls brought back so many memories. I made Christmas baubles, too! I really want to try the weaving. It's such a great idea to get the rag rug for the many fabrics. I will be on the hunt for one to use in my slow stitching because I enjoy making 5X5 inch squares, so this is perfect! As always, thank you for sharing your creativity and time.
Thank you for your sweet comment :) The baubles are really fun and bring back memories for me too :) I would love to see your squares, you should send me a picture some day :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I had rag rugs as a new bride 38 years ago and after years of use they came apart and the materials were double knits and knits that had been in style the decade before. They were slippery, durable rugs. I took one, like many kids, to school in 1970 for a sleeping mat in kindergarten. This was a great memory lane. I love d making the balls as a child. This is a fabulous idea.I haven't been crafting fir health reasins but this was inspiring. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the sweet comment :) I had one as a sleeping mat too, lol :) I hope you have been inspired to create something, it is good to get your mind off things for a bit :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I knew they were strips of fabric but never knew they were such big pieces like that. The punkin is fab! The sun is fab! I don't like having a regular framed picture over my bed after one fell on my head in the middle of the night once. But the theme possibilities are endless with a foam board and fabric. Thank you so much for sharing this video, Amy. 💖
Thank you for your sweet comment :) This one won't hurt your head if it falls down, lol :) Have fun playing with yours :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Thank you for your sweet comment :) It is like opening a present on Christmas morning with all the lovely pieces :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Truly genius ideas! So creative. Cost effective fun. I was just talking to my grown boys and hubby about making a rag rug for the kitchen out of old t-shirt strips. I never even imagined buying one to get fabric for projects. I've never seen that "faux quilting" either. Really great video.
It just amazes me when you twerk that rug apart and found all those different materials some pieces that I seen in there I didn’t see it in there to after you toward out of there anyway thank you so much for sharing and God bless and Police are amazing day and please be safe
What fantastic idea with the rag rugs! I have seen these rugs but never bought them! They really didn’t go with my decor. The fabric is beautiful! Tyfs!
wow!!! I love this idea - sadly, foam boards and any kind of foam was banned a long time ago! I'll have to find something else! I love the foam ball ornaments - I found a pack from so long ago they are yellowed!!! Love that sun!! I never thought there was so much fabric in rag rugs and they are so pretty too!! I have loads of fabric leftover from mom's store in the 60's. Since I can't use them for dresses or anything like that for fear they will fall apart , it is a great idea to make rugs or placemats!! (I start small!) Thanks for the great idea
Thank you for your sweet comment :) I have a pack of those yellowed balls too, lol :) Cardboard might work if you glue a couple layers together :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Hi Amy!! What fantastic ideas! I love these rugs and I have a couple on my floor. but you've given me a couple of great ideas. Hope you and the family are doing well. Hugs Shaz
Hello Sharon !! So nice to see you :) Thank you for your sweet comment :) I hope all is well with you and the family :) Sam must be graduated or close to it :) Take care and big hugs :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I use to make the ornament balls as a kid too only on the hanging loop I wouldn’t tie the ends but leave them a little long and tie a tassel on the bottom. Now my grand kids make one each for the tree each year. This year wii be my granddaughter’s first year making hers, she’s 5.
Thank you for your sweet comment :) How fun to be able to create with your granddaughter :) Enjoy :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Thank you for your sweet comment :) Even the t shirt fabric is fun to play with in different ways :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
These are beautiful!! The one rug I bought from Walmart was useless. The white fabric shredded, almost like it was paper and the other colors could not be unrolled, even with an iron and starch. But, for $5 I got what I paid for.
hi Amy I am obsessed with finding these rugs but no luck. I need scraps and this is the perfect way for me to get a variety. I tried Walmart yesterday but they had none in store. I searched everywhere but nothing is sure ordering online cuz there are tight cotton ones with no rags and they still call them rag rugs. I feel like I used to see these as a kid and now its a lot of machine woven rugs. I will continue to search. Amazon has a potential one for $35 plus taxes but its just not frugal at all. Your Styrofoam art is great. I have no seen this since the 90s.
Thank you for your sweet comment :) I picked these up at Menards, so even if you do not have a Menards, maybe you can order it from them online :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
@@aljohn Hi Amy! I will try! I will keep at this quest because thrifting for scraps is not viable where I live. Each piece of clothing is $8-$20 there is no economy there. If they were selling shirts $2 even it might be reasonable. This rag rug is really a great way to get tons of scraps. You have really great ideas always😀
Hello Amy How you going I have been having Life things going on ! Our Elly had her Baby Girl about 3 weeks ago so exciting she called her Margot I do like that idea can find one for getting some lovely scrap pieces Never seen any about here so will have to see if I hope you are well Big hugs Sonya
Thank you for your sweet comment :) Thank you for sharing your suggestion to wash them, good idea :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I suggest using one of those plastic L shaped envelope openers. I think it's quicker than scissors. If the end is too pointy, file it a little to round it off.
Wow there was some beautiful fabric in those rugs. Very creative how you used them.
Thank you for your sweet comment :) The fabrics really were prettier than I thought they would be :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
