Wooh! Finally I was able to run this script. This is brilliant. I spent around 3 hours fixing installation error when running commands. Whoever is stuck just google the shit out of it. The only problem I face is the mouse tracking issue. It works perfectly on single display but as soon as I turn on another display then it just tracks up and down movements. I guess I'll have to just trust and use it with single display for now. I could've used second display to see where the zoom is actually happening. Thanks!
Im seeing the same kind of thing but with no mouse tracking at all. I wasnt sure it was because of the dual display. I did shut down and unplug the second monitor but that didnt seem to resolve this. my next thing was to google it as well, but pesky work keeps getting in the way.
Thanks for this. This is going to make the video tutorial so much easier to follow along. I used to have to do this manually in post edit! This is going to save so much time. Thank you!
If you're running into errors after installation try using an older fork from the forks list on the script's github page. Seems like newer updates have broken this method of installation. I used a 13 month old fork by 'caffeinatedbard' and it seems to be working fine. Cheers!

For some reason, when I choose the zoom source being my Display Capture and set up the zoom window width/height and everything else, then setup the hotkeys it zooms in to the top left corner and doesn't follow the cursor and the display is already zoomed in before I hit the hotkey, any advice on how to correct this issue?
also running into this. Pretty new to OBS and have 2 monitors so maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but followed everything exactly, tried some suggestions in the comments like having one hotkey for both things....but nothing works. Zoom seemed to work briefly but it'd zoom in so far it was useless and it seems to think center was way off screen - hours of googling later and fixed that problem (had to do with monitor size) so center is now center....but now neither hotkey works for zoom/follow
I got it working. Although it seems like a good idea to set both follow and zoom to the same key bindings, I recommend having separate ones on case they get out of sync. I'm now using 2 simultaneous versions of the scripts for 2 different sources, and it works a treat!
That was great THANK YOU for the content, BTW you could have used the zoom & track feature on this video while installing the script and prerequisites because the fonts were very small and it was hard to watch on small screens, had to zoom manually and pan around. Anyways this video is an example to show how it really is and how the zoom feature can come in to improve the quality of the video.
Splendid! I'm new to OBS, and am building out my multi-camera multi-program OBS workflow for making instructional videos (and eventually live classroom streams). Tutorials like this are a vital part of making it all work!
HOW TO FIX THE UPPER LEFT CORNER ZOOM BUG After some tweaking I found that (like every RUclipsr posting about this script) you have to use Display Capture. NOT Window Capture. I did not test with gamecapture or other sources, but once I changed to Display Capture it worked exactly as should, and as shown in the video. I also updated pip to the latest (u can just do that in the cmd, it'll give you a message) Hyped I got it to work, was afraid I might not! Amazing tool for music production streams. Bless you guys
I was able to make it work with window capture in a janky way. This might also work with game capture 1.) First go through the steps of setting up with a display capture. 2.) In the latest version you have the ability to enable monitor override, enable it and select your monitor. 3.) Save the changes and make sure it's working in the display capture method. 4.) Go back to script settings and switch the zoom source to the window capture. As long as I kept the window on the monitor I picked earlier the zoom and follow worked.
Noice! I had been creating separate sources with zoomed in quadrants. This is so much easier! Can't wait to try it out. Live tutorials are the way for me. I mean....why have a stream deck if you aren't doing it live??!? Also, your video on the motion/move plugins....top notch.
@@Andilippi Thanks man. Took me a little finagling, but finally got the script to work. Had some issues with newer versions of Python already installed on my machine. Hello, I have downloaded this and followed all the instructions both in the Github and a tutorial video. However, It zooms to the upper left corner until I can see only a few pixels and it doesn't follow the cursor.
Nice! Thanks for the time you invested in this! BTW, how do you do the transition from fullscreen to sharing monitor with you in the small window? I could not find it in your videos. A combination of scene transition and object manipulation of the window shared?
Thanks Mark! Appreciate that chief! That’s pretty much it. A mix of move source, rounded corners and move value! I’ve been asked this a lot so I’m going to do a tutorial on it soon!
great tutorial, however I'm running into a problem where when I press zoom and follow, it zooms but also shrinks all the way to the upper left corner until its not visible at all. I already set the align to center and stretch to limit but it does the same. Any ideas why?
Nice, thanks for this! I used [win] + [+] shortcut most of times for this, then [win] + [esc] to exit zoom. With right settings "Have magnifier follow: Mouse Pointer" / "Keep the mouse pointer centered on the screen" it works similar, but the zoom duration in this obs addon is awesome. I'm searching a way for double layers, when the bottom is the normal view and top layer is a small cropped zoomed and follows the mouse. Maybe this is the solution, because 3:12 you can change the display source. So it should work with this script, isn't it?
Something has changed! Hey Andi, the installation instructions just changed. The GitHub site now says " Install PyWinCtl (Make sure it is at least ver 0.0.30)". I've just made a video taking inspiration from yours (my target audience is OBS users for professional presentations) and everything was working fine. But then some viewers commented that they don't see what I show in the video. So I reinstalled everything iwth PyWinCtl and now things don't work for me either. We need your help!! ;-) thanks!!
I know this an old video, But I was looking for a way to record the curser at it's normal or extra large size when in some games that allow the use of presise curser, and always come looking tiny.
just wow! thanks mate ;) quick question thougt: is there any way to see the red marker on the screen to know exactly what portion of the screen are you capturing?? does it makes sense?? I just realized that when minimizing obs and zooming using this script, I can't see what I'm exactly capturing and following
Anytime Libra dude!!! I haven’t actually come across anything like that at the moment but if you get the settings quite stable then you know the rough area all the time :) then I add the same hotkey to my Streamdeck or something so it tells when when I’m zoomed in and when I’m not!
@@Andilippi Thanks for your answer. I finally ended up using my field monitor as second screen to see exactly what I'm recording and where I'm zooming. And it's working like butter, thanks a lot you really saved me lot of time on the edits ;)
I love you, but when I add the script it just says no properties. I've tried everything! I tried reinstalling Python, even manually installing the script via batch file and nothing.

Hello Tariq, I'd like to try your solution. But, where exactly would I find the "OBS>Tools>Scripts>Python Settings" folder? Much appreciated if you would help me. :)
@Tariq Hamed so i have a few different version of Py installed and no matter which version i load in OBS it throws an error. most of the errors complain about not being able to find pywinctl which is definitely on my disk. anything i could be missing? is there an updated version of the script to go along with newer releases of Py? i can share some screenshots.
So I've actually modified the code to remove the "active border" feature and have it just directly follow the mouse (I fixed the jitter with my version). I can also add the smoothing back if someone wants. It runs very smooth to my surprise
I do not have the update interval option and I think for that reason it doesn't track my mouse... Everything else is appearing and I can get the zoom to work perfectly, just no tracking... any help?
Nothing is displayed when I add the script to obs I seem to have a python problem I checked the latest version of python and even version 3.6 and it did not work Thank you for your help
Thanks for this helpful video. In the Settings, Hotkeys, there's two fields for the keyboard shortcuts... not one, as shown in your video. Any idea what I did wrong? There's Enable/Disable Mouse Zoom and a separate hotkey for Enable/Disable Mouse Follow. Luckily I can set the same key for both. Just weird how it shows up as two separate things. I'm running the latest OBS. Thanks!
Thank you for this video, I was just waiting for this Zoom function. In your opinion, is it possible to apply the zoom to both screens? I'm using the Advanced Scene Switcher tool with the region parameter, which allows OBS to automatically record the screen my mouse is on. I would like to be able to zoom on the screen where my mouse is located, without having to go back to the settings to change the Zoom Source.
Thanks Andi, great tutorial! I have followed the steps you indicate, and everything is going very well, but in my case, I have two options to activate the shortcut, one for zooming and the other for mouse tracking. How did you go about unifying it? Greetings from Peru 👊
Thank you so much for this! It seems however that the hotkeys for zoom and follow are now separate so I need to press two hotkeys to get the same functionality! Furthermore, this feature will not work on one screen for a person who has two screens! Is there any workaround?
Unfortunately this only works for 1 screen but I’m creating a LioranBoard extension to make it work on any display with some added features too! You can set the zoom and follow hotkeys to the same hotkeys!
I did everything and installed pip. Now I am getting this error: SyntaxError: future feature annotations is not defined in OBS. Please help! Thank you!
Hey Marc!! I haven’t seen any spikes or anything! I mainly use it recording tutorials which I record at 2560x1440 resolution! So it should be fine for all to be honest! ❤️👊🏼
I realize this video is over a year old, but apparently there have been some updates to this. Trying to install it but running into issues with the configuration as the settings have changed. Any advice?
for some reason in script zoom and follow mouse description just says " no properties available" im so confused im sure i installed python and the did the cmd installs
Hello great video, in fact I was looking for such a thing, by chance you know how to adjust the zoom in such a way as not to zoom too much I could not or rather does the zoom but my resolution is too high at 1280x1024 or it is not possible thanks greetings Nico
Awesome tutorial, super easy to set up, clear instructions! BUT is there a way to get it to track movement on a different monitor outside your primary monitor? I thought changing the 'Select monitor to use base for zooming' to my 2nd display would work but it keeps tracking movement on the primary monitor. My goal is to be able to track mouse movements on a secondary program I use on my 2nd monitor which I'd then overlay on top in OBS.
I’m pretty sure it should work on a separate monitor! I only have 1 at the moment so haven’t been able to test!! Just changing the input should sort it I think!
Tried everything to get zoom and follow working but no luck. Even using the Follow hotkey it never pans all i can get it to do is zoom in and out and even then the settings are not intuitive.
Could this be used to have ultra wide content to pan left or right as mouse goes left/right? I game with a 49” 32:9 display (5120x1440) I scale it down to 1080p but there is still display capture content cropped on left and right. I’d like something to track my gameplay/mouse and pan left or right revealing what was cropped. Does that make sense?
After almost 2 years I finally decided to implement this myself
Were you able to run it on Windows?
I've been learning OBS to improve boring meetings and demos, and this has just upped the ante - thanks for the content!
Amazing stuff Matthew! That’s great to hear, glad you found the content useful!

HOW TO FIX THE UPPER LEFT CORNER ZOOM BUG
After some tweaking I found that (like every RUclipsr posting about this script) you have to use Display Capture. NOT Window Capture. I did not test with gamecapture or other sources, but once I changed to Display Capture it worked exactly as should, and as shown in the video. I also updated pip to the latest (u can just do that in the cmd, it'll give you a message)

I was able to make it work with window capture in a janky way. This might also work with game capture
1.) First go through the steps of setting up with a display capture.

Woah that's awesome! Will you release it to the public?
@Twystedgamer @@boredombuster1337 interested in this as well.
Thank you!!!
can you make an updated video on this? it doesn't seem to work now since they updated the script :(
I do not have the update interval option and I think for that reason it doesn't track my mouse... Everything else is appearing and I can get the zoom to work perfectly, just no tracking... any help?
Does not work in the latest version
I’m running the latest version of OBS and everything seems fine
I Found my Solution You are Great, Thank you so much for tutorial
Thats awesome to hear Muz! Thank you for the love
Amazing information bro !!!! Thank you
Cheers nedko! Enjoy it buddy!
thanks!
No worries Christopher!
Nothing is displayed when I add the script to obs
I seem to have a python problem
I checked the latest version of python and even version 3.6 and it did not work
Thank you for your help
I would recommend asking on the OBS forum ducky! Your answer might be there!
Is it taking it too far if I say this video is SWEETER THAN .....
Thanks mate
I’d say that’s not far enough 😜 you are more than welcome dude!
Thanks!
Anytime Chris! Glad it was useful, I might take a look to see if it’s been updated or something as that’s pretty weird! At least it works 😬
Great video - nice work.
Cheers Chad buddy! Glad you found it useful mate!
Thanks dude, very helpfull!
Anytime Tiago, always happy to help! ❤️👊🏼
Thanks Andi, great tutorial! I have followed the steps you indicate, and everything is going very well, but in my case, I have two options to activate the shortcut, one for zooming and the other for mouse tracking. How did you go about unifying it? Greetings from Peru 👊
Hey Pavel!!! I believe I just set them both to the same hotkey! That way they both activate at the same time! 👊🏼
@@Andilippi Well this doesn't work, but 2 hotkey work, sad...
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video
No worries Ramesha! Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Hi Andi, great plugin and great demo quick question, is it hard on CPU resources?
Any advice?
Love it Love it... How do i get this into the OSX version?
Cheers ducky! I’m not sure it is available for OSX unfortunately!
1:30
Not working on Win11..
(Pyton by default doesn't seem to be installed)
I’d recommend reaching out to the devs on the OBS forum page
for some reason in script zoom and follow mouse description just says " no properties available" im so confused im sure i installed python and the did the cmd installs
That could mean the wrong version is installed. I’d recommend checking on the OBS plugin forum bully!
Hi, How can I customize my webcam view like you?
is there a way for the Dual setup? :D
Awesome tutorial!
Thanks a lot edubits ducky! ❤️👊🏼
Thanks a lot edubits ducky! ❤️👊🏼
Hello great video, in fact I was looking for such a thing, by chance you know how to adjust the zoom in such a way as not to zoom too much I could not or rather does the zoom but my resolution is too high at 1280x1024 or it is not possible thanks greetings Nico
You can just manually change the size in the settings as you can see in the video Nico :)
@@Andilippi Ok thanks so in the script section where there are the numbers ;)
Hey there, any idea why it's not tracking my mouse?
I did see a few issues that the tracking and zoom can now be set on different hotkeys!
@@Andilippi It doesn't unfortunately. At least not for me. I've added a comment on the github page. Thanks though bb
also ran into this issue
Tried everything to get zoom and follow working but no luck. Even using the Follow hotkey it never pans all i can get it to do is zoom in and out and even then the settings are not intuitive.
Could this be used to have ultra wide content to pan left or right as mouse goes left/right? I game with a 49” 32:9 display (5120x1440) I scale it down to 1080p but there is still display capture content cropped on left and right. I’d like something to track my gameplay/mouse and pan left or right revealing what was cropped. Does that make sense?
Does this work for mac I'mhaving issues with it on Mac. If it does can someone help me. If not is there an alternative
does it work on MacOS
I don’t think so, but I haven’t actually tried!
