How is it holding up? I am planning on doing the same. My girlfriend says she wants white gold though so now that's a whole other can of worms ( the alloys and she doesn't like rhodium plating but wants it white ) so much to learn.
Still holding up well. I check it every now and then to make sure the stone isn't coming loose - no adjustments have been needed so far! You may be able to buy white gold squared wire, and white gold solder possibly, but I'm not sure how it is to use. (My level of knowledge is below a novice haha) Your right though, there's so much to learn hahah, but definitely don't let that put you off. It can be as simple or as complicated as you make it I guess.
