I appreciate that you enjoy these stories for what they are Grammaticus. It's interesting that you keep mentioning Buck Rogers. He was first published in Amazing stories in August of 1928. I have that issue as well as the next two... not because of Buck Rogers but coincidentally Doc Smith's first novel, Skylark of Space was published in those issues. If you look up the cover of the August magazine you'll see a picture of a man flying around with what seems to be a jet pack. That cover art is an illustration for the Doc Smith story.
These Amazing Stories magazines are just incredible. The ads are really quite shocking for the time period. Who knew? Thanks, Grammaticus. Terrific video.
"Hey, honey! I just bought something that will really spice up our time in the bedroom. I read about it in a science fiction magazine!" - A soon-to-be-divorced science fiction nerd, circa. 1940
Did you ever watch the 80s TV show produced by Stephen Spielberg? I only remember the WW2 episode with the B-17 that loses it landing gear during a bombing run and a crew member is stuck in the belly gun so if they land, he would be crushed. When looking this up, I found that Apple TV produced another season in 2020
246 pages. A quarter. A magazine. Wow!😮😮😮
You do have to adjust for inflation though.
The Invasion of Infectious Dandruff!
Gotta get my dandruff vaccination!
Good video, Ben. Man, I love the art in those old pulps. Those are nice to have.
Classic old school SF art!

I did not know Buck Rogers made his first appearance in Amazing Stories! Good stuff Steven!
“ . . . A bombastic version of Buck Rogers . . . “
More bombastic than the already bombastic? I love your channel.
Bombastic plus!

Thanks for checking out the video Pat!
Ads from 1942 were more risque than what you can post today on PrudeTube.
Very true!
This is where Bethesda got their Fallout art ideas
I can see that Zothras.

I did watch those Greger! And my best friends dad was a top turret gunner in a B17.
Love that old issue- There’s a “Thornton Ayre” in that one too, you didn’t fancy it after last week? 😂
Nope! Passed on that one!
I recall reading Heinlein had a 'quirky' sex life or some such thing.
Depends on how you define "quirky"!
Reading these old Pulp stories are going to rot your mind. Just look for the decent authors buried among the dross. 🐶😛
Ah a little rot never hurt anyone!
