Who could possibly dislike a mullet man video? He seems to be a good ole normal God fearin country boy livin off the land makin youtube videos. What's there to dislike?
I died when Angel told Mike to be careful when he was feeding the geese that was special. He hunts mountain lion, hogs, bear, rattlesnakes all kinds of other critters and has probably shot his fair share of geese. I love seeing Angel in the videos she's cute as a button.
Really? I've never tried the skin or fins yet.. pretty knew to self catch and cooking so I'm easing into the fins and skin haha, whats the taste/texture comparable to?
Zynoxic _ The skin and fins have a strong fish flavor too, so if you like really mild flavored fish you might not like it. If you like sardines and anchovies you’ll love them!
CountryBoyCam ??? Lol no it’s not... they’re not even in the same species group classification not even distant relatives... been fishing my entire life catching blue gill, perch, and large mouth in the same lakes side by side they look nothing like blue gill.... google search perch click images NOTHING REMOTELY CLOSE that looks like a blue gill or sunfish will pop up
You know it’s hot outside when your wife lets you clean the fish in the kitchen! 🥵 another great video! Glad to see Angel fishing with you. A couple that fishes and hunts together, stays together.
I think you need a blind taste test with just fried bluegill and crappie. Eggwash fillets and put in 50 50 cornmeal + flour mix salt&pepper to taste. Now tell me crappie are better. To each his own, but I vote for Blue gill everytime.
my sisters pond has massive bluegill and crappie... biggest crappie i've EVER seen. and always plentiful. i could literally eat fish 7 days a week if i wanted to with just a couple hours fishing most times. but yeah, that first bluegill you got was a monster! ... but you said bigger than most crappie and i've caught crappie three times that size in my sisters pond. the more i'm watching the more i'm impressed with the size of those bluegill... they're huge! your wife is beautiful! if she's good to you count yourself lucky and don't you forget it!
I actually did some crappie with the glitter and it was probably the best fish I've eaten. Used regular olive oil and more butter, and didn't cook it as long. Had it over a brown rice with steamed squash.
On camping/fishing trips, my grandmother liked to serve bluegill for breakfast. The only thing I don't miss about those days is scaling fish. I have caught fish that size on a 1/2 inch piece of Slim Jim threaded vertically on a hook. Man, they slammed it!
"I been fishin at this spot for bluegil all my life" I know that feelin. I recently lost access to my childhood bluegill spot. It's amazingly nostalgic when I was able to go back though. Nice catche and good vids.
Great video as always! I'm not sure my wife would be super pumped if she came home and I was cleaning fish in the kitchen, I might try it and see what she says. Those were some nice slabs, that's good eatin'
Ive always wondered if it was just fancy talkers calling them bluegill. I grew up in Georgia (all of 63 years) saying perch too. For that matter, every youngun grew up making "Brim Buster" cane pole, bobber, and fishing line for some quick summer fishing out in the woods.
when my girls were teenagers we were at the Doral Country Club in Miami and I was catching Bluegill the size of a dinner plate from the lake on the golf course. I was using a yellow beetle spin on a lite rod and was catching a fish on nearly every cast off a concrete block retaining wall. They were the biggest I've ever seen and were almost impossible to grip because they were so wide. Gotta love big Bluegill as nothing fights like they do for their weight.
If you ever make it to Phoenix az you need to fish the little ponds around the city either at sunrise or sunset and you will catch bluegill that big and bigger one after another.
I actually have in Moss Bluff, LA on Cypress Lake at my Aunt and Uncles place. I’ve caught them using exactly what your using. Fry them whole. They are DELICIOUS 😋
I love bluegill and I love crappie they are my favorite fish ever I like them just plain flour a little bit of baking powder in a egg and milk wash and then fried and that's the best way with a little salt pepper it's so good my grandpa used to do it and it was amazing I loved it and he always filled the bluegill for my grandma even no matter how small they were he would fill them for her so she wouldn't have to pick out the bones and I remember them having that every weekend when I would come over grandma would have a little bowl of fried bluegill waiting for us and then me and grandpa and my brothers would go out and get more bluegill it was so fun
Love that you call them perch as well. I was born and raised in Texas and moved to South Carolina when I was 17 and when I caught a blue hill and called it a perch they acted like I was speaking a foreign language. 😂🤙🏼
Yes the lake my buddy and I have been fishing since the 6th grade has blue gill that size we keep a few every now and then to keep the population in check because he lives on the lake and we are the only ones who really fish it
Here in Illinois we know them as bluegills. When they get that big we refer to them as "bullgills" and they are Soo good to eat. Catching them through the ice they are even tastier. Great video, I enjoyed seeing it. Fish-On brother 👊
Thanks me and my son are going out for crappie tomorrow:)

There's a pond where I fish in Massachusetts that has bluegill that big. I catch them on wooly buggers while my son gets them on worms. I grew up eating these and crappie. And they are good!
that cajun heat olive oil has me thinking about that blackened bluegill, but flaked up and tossed in a salad of bitter greens and some pickeled red onion with almonds, and make a quick vinaigrette with that olive oil and maybe some apple cider vinegar
Every time I watch your vlogs I get hungry. Damn you! The Food Network should be knocking on your door. Now that would be a great hit show. Remember Duck Dynasty? If I get you a pilot and a series I will need 20%. Ha!

Called them perch too my whole life in Texas and yes I’ve seen just as many that big it’s amazing. Good eats!
in south Louisiana, we all call them perch as well...
I'm from Oklahoma and we call them perch too
alex boone we call em gills in California in North Carolina we called them bream
I’ve never filleted Bluegills. The skin and fins are my favorite parts!
Yeah facts they r pretty good
Really? I've never tried the skin or fins yet.. pretty knew to self catch and cooking so I'm easing into the fins and skin haha, whats the taste/texture comparable to?
Zynoxic _ They taste a lot like fish flavored, kettle cooked potato chips. I just nibble them up to the point they are too thick.
Zynoxic _ The skin and fins have a strong fish flavor too, so if you like really mild flavored fish you might not like it. If you like sardines and anchovies you’ll love them!
Zynoxic _ Sorry, but I have only done this with crispy fried fish. Broiled or grilled fish might not be as good.
I go bluegill fishing almost every weekend and I like mine fried or blackened. A lot of people don’t know how delicious they are
Do they taste like crappie or perch??
@@shadeshiest22 bluegill is perch😐😂

He has the same problem as me we say one more cast and he stay another hour
That’s relatable
Facts!

"She wants fish for dinner tonight"
Video starts the next day after letting "the fish chill on ice all night" lol

On camping/fishing trips, my grandmother liked to serve bluegill for breakfast. The only thing I don't miss about those days is scaling fish. I have caught fish that size on a 1/2 inch piece of Slim Jim threaded vertically on a hook. Man, they slammed it!
