- There hasn't been this big of a gamechanger in the UTV market as long as we can remember. That's right we thought the chances of us getting our hand on a 2022 Polaris RZR Pro R this soon were slim to none. Thankfully the folks at America Offroad Endurance preordered this machine and allowed us to put it to our test at Stony Lonesome OHV with the help of our friend and RZR Life owner David Uptain. Enjoy this Busted Knuckle Ride and Review of a brand new machine that we think is a game changer. The new 2022 Polaris RZR Pro R 4 comes with a 1997cc 4 cylinder engine making 225hp naturally aspirated without a Turbo. That isn't where the innovations stop. This machine has a new separate Rear Diff and Transmission. All of the Racers will be happy because the Pro R comes with a alternator. This is the first we have seen for any utv in this class. Speaking of class this new machine is in a class of its own being 74" wide and a ton of travel. This Dynamix edition also features 3 new ECU modes for throttle control and 5 different suspension modes to choose from. Check it all out in this Busted Knuckle Ride and Review.

Here is our latest review or a 2 seater- ruclips.net/video/5qkH3h6zKgc/видео.html
Great Review by you and David!!! Definitly touched bases on the new machine for us east coast riders.
Thanks we had a good time with it
Being a polaris tech for 26 yrs, Finally a quality product! Man I’ve seen some junk those polaris guys made! Actually quit in 2006 because of their 900-755 snowmobiles wow absolute piles! Everybody knew they could make a great product and there you go finally! Even their sleds top notch stuff!
They have come a long way for sure
I paid over 11k for a brand new anniversary 2005 900 166 inch track one of junk sled. Ski doo from there on. But sxs I love Polaris. Thanks for showing us
Thanks guys this was the best all around demo of this unit i have seen. PLEASE make some more
Thanks Don! We have a few more machines on the way and will follow this same format!
A proper review from a professional razer driver that knows how to push a machine great video Matt this pro r is badd ass 😎👍
Thanks Tim we do our best!
Best review on the proR by far, great video!!!
Thanks that means a lot!
Your videos are great. I have a Turbo R 4 Ultimate on order now. Very excited. Did you notice any downside to the wider stance on the Pro R? Was the turning radius an issue at all?
I didn’t notice any negative effects of the 74” wide setup.
Of course there is a radius issue- it's physics.
Very sweet ride my friend. I can only imagine a two seats with that power.
2 seat coming up next!
@@BustedKnuckleVideo Outstanding ...really looking forward to it
Cant wait to see more videos!!!
Thanks Adam!
It's been a while since I've watched a Busted Knuckle video. Thanks for the video on the Pro R.
You bet!
Toe link does not affect contact patch. It keeps both rear wheels parallel headed the same direction within .5 degree. Radius rods are what keep contact patch flat
News to me thanks
Awesome😍😍😍
So much fun
We have a Pro R 4 Ultimate on order, theyre months out but looks like we are going to enjoy the hell out of it, especially with an M240 machine gun mounted
Heck yeah!
Great review.... Thinking of selling my Pioneer 1000 and getting a Pro R 4.......Just a mild upgrade.....lol
Go for it!
Great video matt. Do you think it’s too long for the type of riding we do in Tennessee?
I don’t think so
@@BustedKnuckleVideo good to hear! I have the same one ordered and worried it is gonna feel long as heck
The low range and low switch in the krx does the same thing in the rocks.. like low range in a jeep.. all torque without all the spinning and bouncing:)
Nice
Not even close to the same. The KRX limiter absolutely kills the power. On the RZR, all of the power is there, just way smoother
Good review on the pro r , the best out there , love to have one but she’s to wide at 76 inches wide ☹️ not gonna fit the toy hauler .. Can’t wait to see the 2 seater in action 👍🏻
yeah they are wide but fun
I just hope that stuffing bigger engines than 1000 cc in SxS don't bring us more scrutiny and regulation from government on this sport machines.
It shouldn't
Do you know if the factory tires on the Pro are DOT approved?
Doubt it
I'm getting the same machine, I'm trying to decide if I want the Rockford stereo, looks like you have the stage 5 system? Back speakers with sub? Can you hear the music well with helmet on and throttle pinned? Let me know please
No idea on that. I had to give this one back. The Pro R engine is a bit louder than the regular turbo engine
does he got in the back an opendiff foir tarmackroads ...witch can get locket for offroad ?
What?
I can just imagine the Engine and 4 x 4 drive train from a Jeep Renegade in one of these sand rails. Plus all the stuff for driving in the road legally.
body swapping one of these to make it street legal would be a better option like this- ruclips.net/video/SjwjsM8Pfgc/видео.html
Did yall do any testing in the open diff mode?
We did. It’s nice on the track
Will they still continue to build pro xp 4 versions or this is what they will be from now on?
Good question. I think the turbo R is its replacement
I worry about the front belt intake on the hood and water. Is there anything on it to keep the water out.
Good question I’ll research
I'm wondering about this too!
Did Polaris get a engineer from can am on the pro xps? Lol similar seats, similar taillights. I had a 2019 can am x3 xmr ( have a turbo s now), can am has had the rock version/mud version/ trail version for the 4x4. And open diff and visco lock. Now Polaris has it and bumped up the prices by 10-15,000 lol, but I will say Polaris is way more advanced on the active suspension, ride command ect.
I think they all cheat off eachother
Do you think srrs will allow these to compete in the sxs class
I don’t see why not
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I heard that in order to classify as a sxs it has to be under 1000cc ..
How did they get an engine that big into a sxs with no regulation?? This thing is bad ass. I gotta get one
Good question
Did the length of the machine concern you. Just seems soo long! Did it botttom out on the technical rock sections?
didn't bother me at all really, Plus these are made to throw a set of 35s on which will help a ton
@@BustedKnuckleVideo awesome. I think the turbo R would be more in my price range. Maybe you guys can get your hands on one and do a comparison
Is the driveshaft in phase and balanced?
I didn’t notice any vibrations
Did you guys ever find out what the max limited speed is in low range?
@@dr187mx the new Diff seems solid
Its the channel rig we need from you guys lol.
I know I hit 35 mph in low and it had more. How much more...🤷♂️
Great product but in all honesty these thing are getting RIDICULOUS in price !!!! The average guy can no longer afford one
They make lower models. This thing handles and drives like a 100k trophy truck
50k better be made of gold!
It's like a 50k trophy truck
Sxs blog has the new Polaris and they plane putting a turbo on it
That should be fun
Nice review. Matt I see no review going thru water. Going thru 3feet of water I believe it will short out alternator . What do you think?
Is there anything different on it for a truck alternator? I’ve had the alternator on a truck under water quite a few times.
I don’t usually drive my machines in 3 ft of water 🤷♂️
What the weight difference between the 3 to 4 bangers??
Good question the 2 seater pro R is close to 2000lbs
What tires were those? Can you order with them installed?
These came factory on this unit.
Can you still shorten the frame ? Like Clay Harris did?
not sure on that
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I have a sawzall and a welder and I'm not afraid to use it
It honestly sounded like a guy mowing his lawn down the street. Especially when you were doing the rock crawling at the end.
they do sound a bit ricey
The entire machine is bigger. Five lug wheels, automotive style wheel hubs, etc. It’s a sxs in its own class.
agreed
I mean it's badass but $34k for the base model is wild it's basically the Lambo of side x sides at that price
You get what you pay for
Starting to think 4 seater is the way to go now days.
they are long but can climb like no other
Are the rzrs that people mostly race turbos ?
yes
Why would you turbo it when it has a belt that could turn a supercharger zero lag and all the boost you need
Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Most people go straight to turbos now. If personally go with a blower on one of these.
@@Sackmatters then it robs some of the power
@@BustedKnuckleVideo no doubt it does. I just think in my application mostly mud and tight trails it would be nice. No lag and some boost to keep the wheels spinning. I know I’m going to have that issues in the x3 but I had to give it a try. Maybe in a year or so I’ll buy someone’s used rig.
where can I order one ? either pro r or turbo r I need one !!!! im located in florida
any local dealer should be able to order one for you
@@BustedKnuckleVideo Arent they preorders made by allocations ?
Very nice but my god the price is crazy.
they are pricey for sure
Tires seem too small. What size are they stock?
They are just big machines with huge suspension components and long wheel base, so the stock 15 inch wheels with 32 inch tires look small. Polaris did design the Pro R to cycle 35 inch tires, which then would look more proportional. Not to mention that the stock "32 inch" tire measures at 30.5 inches. Maybe a true 33 inch would be a good compromise...... or just throw some 37's at it! 😜
32s, 35s look perfect on them
Open exhaust. VOMIT. Especially without a turbo to knock down the sound the obnoxious screaming mosquitos will take over the popular spots. Fast and the Furious Fart Cans goes off road....
Didn’t think about the not having a turbo. You never know they may sound good. 🤷♂️
40-45k I’d much rather invest that in a BKOR buggy
That is a good plan.
Is ride comand worth it?
depends on what you want to do. It is nice to have but not crucial
Sounds like a toyota truggy rock crawling !
The sound takes some getting used to
The drive terrain design similar to an rzr 800
With the belt box behind the seat?
@@BustedKnuckleVideo Yes its pretty much in the same exact spot.
These have become for rich people only, I mean super cool, but super unattainable. They've basically become a car, that's pretty much a jdm Integra type r engine(rsx type s American version) with off road Baja buggy chassis and suspension. It's not even a utv anymore
This is their high end model. They still have more affordable options.
Hammer down with the 570 trail if you want. $11k
Please I need a pro r or a turbo r , I need to preorder , I need to know where to preorder , please im located in florida
There are a ton of dealers who still have machines available to preorder
@@BustedKnuckleVideo Please if u can guide me , Im in Florida miami , Calling all my close dealerships . I have reach a dead end , I have so much desire to have this machinr and i cant seem to be able to make a preorder
Still got a belt?
yep for now
They can’t turbo them if they did then they won’t be a UTV any more by California, you forgot to tell everyone about the better clutches and cooling for the belt. As for this design 2008 rzr800 started this way engine sideways, transmission and rear differential 2 piece.
This was a last minute gig so I didn’t have time to do as much research as normal. I’ll hit on those point with the 2 seater.
I heard they couldn’t put an engine this big in them either yet here we are.
Looks pretty nose heavy going over jumps
That’s all in the design of the jump
I was about to buy one. They’re just overpriced.
If you got it they are worth it
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I’m going with an x3 for now. I’ve had a few rzr’s and love them but I couldn’t pass up this deal on my xmr. We just passed the bill for street legal sxs here in Alaska so I had to get a new rig.
@@Sackmatters street legal would be awesome down here in Alabama
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I hope they start passing these bills everywhere. They’re safer than almost every car and faster. Just don’t drive in bad conditions.
@@Sackmatters safer than almost any car? Not by a Huge long shot man
Why do all of these look like they have tiny wheels/tires? It can't just be me right????
These need some 35s for sure
They are just big machines with huge suspension components and long wheel base, so the stock 15 inch wheels with 32 inch tires look small. Polaris did design the Pro R to cycle 35 inch tires, which then would look more proportional. Not to mention that the stock "32 inch" tire measures at 30.5 inches. Maybe a true 33 inch would be a good compromise...... or just throw some 37's at it! 😜
Waaaay too heavy which is why x3 beats it. Can ams had 72" model for 5 yrs now. Glad poo woke up. Looks like a beefy machine. My dealer says New x3 is around corner.
This is a naturally aspirated machine so ofcourse it will lose to a turbo X3. Throw a turbo on the ProR and it will decimate all.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo yup. You right. Until new x3 comes out. Hope polaris can build a motor like 900 ace. Everybody knows it will hold 300 reliable hp all day. Hope it doesnt weigh what the poo does. These things are getting to be cars. Did polaris compete in koh this yr?
Ya dont wanna get in pissin match, just been burned by poo too many times. This machine does look like way better quality than before. And doesnt sound like lawn mower anymore which is great.
Polaris PR team is working over time . Don’t buy anything under 850cc from them . The 450 HO is junk
I think this one lives up to the hype.
45 K for a RZR, when I can buy a JEEP for the same amount and ride it all year!! Ridiculous what these machines are costing!!!!
You can’t do the thing you can do in a rzr with a jeep.. not even close.
@@zacharypetrovich1690 I was at "SAND HOLLOW" a few months ago, and there was a steep hill that a Jeep Wrangler 4 door was able to climb, and there were 5 different sideXsides that could not get to the top of that particular hill! I was very impressed with the jeep wrangler 4 door, and I have a side by side!
At 74 inches wide, this new model is way to big and costly in my opinion!
Too big and wide for you but they haven't had any trouble selling them
From watching it race a canam rr it ain't all that fast. Not 40+ grand fast! The thing looks like an egg with the mouth of brim fish. There is no cage that can fix that ugly front facia.
Well it is heavy and naturally aspirated. Throw a turbo kit on one and it will decimate all. I have a Pro XP with a low profile cage and think it looks awesome. To each their own I guess. I have never been much of a Can Am fan boy.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo my pockets are big enough. My brain is bigger.
It's copying Yamahas dmode
Haven’t heard of it
@@BustedKnuckleVideo Yamaha Rmax, DMODE, I love it on mine
Just another Polaris pile of crap.
Think how useful that video would have been without the crap music drowning out the engine everyone wanted to hear. Amateur
first negative comment about that we have heard. Can't make everyone happy.
