Check out Agnetha's "I wish tonight could last forever" and "Wrap your arms around me" from her first 80s album. Imho, among her best songs. All 3 Agnetha's 80s solo albums are very good and worth a listen. They are all quite diverse. "We should be together" is from her second 80s album "Eyes of a woman" which is a bit darker and has some catchy rocker songs (like menacing "I keep turning off lights" or energetic "Save me"), lyrically precise melodic rock like "Eyes of a woman", beautiful power-ballad "Angels cry", tender "I wont be leaving you", power pop "One way love", calypso tune "Just one heart" and rousing finale in "We move as one" that could've been ABBA song. Eric Stewart (from 10cc) produced this album and also some other great musicians like Justin Hayward (from Moody Blues) and Jeff Lynne (from ELO) wrote songs for the album.
Agnetha's first 80s album "Wrap your arms around me" is more soul-like, charming, melodic and diverse too (with songs like another calypso influenced "Heat is on", new wave pop-rocker "I cant shake loose", ABBA-esque euro-pop "Stand by my side", pop-rock "Once burned twice shy", reggae song "Take good care of the children" and also Agnetha's beautiful self-penned song "Man"). Her last 80s album "I stand alone" has very late 80s Californian pop sound as it was produced in US by Peter Cetera (from Chicago band). It's very atmospheric with great songs like title song, "Little white secrets", "I wasnt the one" (duet with Cetera), rocker "We got a way", dreamy pop "Last time", beautiful ballads "Maybe it was magic" and "If you need somebody tonight".

This a true 80’s song and I like it. Agnetha sounds great with a smooth style amd a great 80’s beat. Enjoyable easy listening genre.
David, I Can’t tell you how much I appreciate you and your channel. Thank you so much! Not only are you honest and insightful with your reactions but I also love your comedic talent, as well. You are at the top of the list of my favorite RUclipsrs.

I love all Agnetha's solo albums. There's something so magical about her voice. Speaking of which, would love to hear your reaction to her song "Maybe It Was Magic!!" It's on the "I Stand Alone" album. There's actually some really good songs on that one. Her first solo album after ABBA, "Wrap Your Arms Around Me," is still one of my favourites. It was produced by Michael B Tretow who also produced/co-produced all of ABBA's albums. Hope you keep doing reactions to the solo albums!! 🙂🙂🇮🇪🇮🇪

Thank you for reacting to Agnetha's solo work. My favourite tracks from this album are "Eyes of a woman" and "the Angels cry". Maybe a reaction to those would be welcome. Agnetha's 1st solo album was released in 1968, aged just 18 . The lead single " Jag var sa kar", the translation is "I was so in love". This Went to Number in Sweden. She has such talent.

Oh dear! This was, like you, the first time I ever heard this song, and I really liked it... does this mean I now have to uncover all of the Agnetha/Frida solo albums as well? Hehe. I really liked the funky/jazzy beat here, and of course, the vocals are great. Always helps to bring out the disco lights. Thanks for another awesome reaction video: the things you like musically about these songs seem to be also what I like, so I'm looking forward to the next (and to having my musical knowledge stretched with non-ABBA tracks). Stay warm, stay safe, mate.

Not my kind of song, but she sings it very well. I am especially surprised by the parts in the lower register where she sounds oh so sexy. Agnetha is very versatile. Which i knew about Agnetha, her having brought out a dozen solo albums plus a dozen compilation albums. Five of her solo albums were in english, the rest in swedish.

Never heard this and I love Agnetha and ABBA and adore 80's music! This epitomises the 80's club sound with all the hallmarks and nuances but without the cliches! Thought she was at bit too deep at first but enough high notes to compensate. Fab!

Congratulations on 5000 subscribers Mr. G!! A great achievement and so well deserved for such a cool guy. I hope you are enjoying the process and experience. I really look forward to what the future holds on this channel. One little bit of advice would be to perhaps make sure you keep up with your accounts on other platforms, especially the ones that protect strongly the rights of the content creators. RUclips is very quick to remove content. With copyright strikes and just random trolls causing trouble as you grow, a channel can get banned so easily and that would be heartbreaking. Keep plan B and plan C in your mind at all times I think. Anyway, congrats again. You are brilliant! 🇺🇲🇸🇪

More than the song itself, I like Agnetha's voice in it. I have the entire album and think that there are much better songs on it than this one. I absolutely adore "I Won't Let You Go," to which Agnetha wrote the music. She is a very good composer. I also like One Way Love and The Angels Cry.

Thank you for your honest reaction to this song, I love 80’s music… I was a teenager then.. (oops .. revealing my age there) 🤣🤣 I’m still young at heart…. Anyways .. Her vocals are amazing and the so it’s the sound, but as many other 80’s songs, it wouldn’t have been on my playlist. To me, it’s missing the Abba vibe. 😃

  • @scottarooni

Thank you so much for this reaction, David! I thought you would enjoy the funky beat of this song. I love the piano work and the drums as well. The album contains many upbeat songs, but it does have a very 80s sound (which, as you point out, is not bad! LOL). Agnetha did three English-language solo albums in the 80s and I enjoy all of them. Have you heard Frida's solo hit, "I Know There's Something Going On"? This was the first post-ABBA solo effort of any member (as I recall) and it was a worldwide hit in 1982, even hitting the top 20 in the U. S. (#13). I also believe it remains the most successful solo single after ABBA.

I don't think that this one is a good song. There's just something empty and weak sounding with it, kind of like an LP track, rather than a solid 80s sounding funk song. It kind of reminds me of a song that our lovely little Kylie might have put on on B Side of one of her Stock Aitken Waterman singles, sort of Just Wanna Love You and Look My Way mixed up - for my 80s fiends reading this. Her voice does sound good, but it lacks the range she's capable of and I definitely have heard better from our girl Agnetha. I much prefer "The Last Time" it's vocally more interesting and much more dramatic too. I'd give this a medium score of around 6 outta 10.

if i was in your place it would be hard for me to react to this song,it s not bad but its kinda neutral! being Agnetha an ABBA member we expect to hear something extraordinary, but we must not be strict or dissapointed, simply beacause this is not ABBA. Truth is this song is still much better from the trush we listen to nowadays!80 's was a a decade full of inspiration in music, style and songs with singers who could sing!

I quite like the song but I don’t think it is a perfect fit for her wonderful voice. I can imagine Olivia or Sheena singing it but it doesn’t allow Agnetha to tell a story as much and that is her genius

Nearly crappy forgettable arrangement typical of the 80's with a too great voice. The music sounds like its produce by those who made Madonna's singles back then. À la Like a Virgin, kind of...
