Thank you for actually pointing out who this problem is so easily missed due to the fact the sound is actually so minute when the problem begins early. Eventually the vibration increases and you even find loss of power
excellent guide. the ease you can take out the two gear clusters with forks in one go is very good. i think my input bearing has gone as i have no differential noise when coasting only when in gear so i think it points to this.
Awesome video!!! Maybe in a few years there will be a full record of sounds mechanics have to decode. "Yeah, when I start up the car it makes this wub wub wub sound but when I accelerate theres this whhhhhheeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh then a wwiwiiwiiiwwiwiwiwi"
Hello, basically i have a fairly quite whine in first gear. While accelerating i cant hear any problems but if i push the clutch down and let the car essentially coast then i can hear a whine which decreases in volume as the car slows down. Only happens in first. Sounds like straight cut gears in a motorcycle but quiter. Is this a problem? Plz help!!

My Fiat Panda just started sounding like shit. was a little noisy in first and second, then it started in 3rd and now it sounds like the gears are grinding right up to 3rd gear and it refuses to reverse up a slight gradient.
great video, very helpful, its possible to change the bearing assembly just taking the 5h gears out? or i have to disassembly all the gearbox? do you have any step by step video? thanks!
mine sounded like that for about 1000km then it got worse. clicking and grinding and then it sheared off 3 of 6 cv joint bolts... I reattached the other 3. it still jerks and shakes. but ive gone another 400km on that... vws never die?
The 5th gear is the only one who can be removed without special tools and for this, you dont need to remove the gearbox from the car. Just remove the gearboxcap on the side. You need a lot of special tools to disassamle the package you can see on the pictures. All in all 800-900EUR without a workshop press. At the moment, i think the problems are the bearings inside of gear 1 and 2, not the dualbearing. Maybe ill make some more footage when i upgrade my gearbox.
The output shaft is always engaged into the differential. differential spins, if the car is in motion. so when the bearings of the output shaft is defective (which are nearly the same like the ones from the primary shaft), it might also sound like that. additionaly, the primary shaft can get spin from the output shaft through slip, even if the clutch is open.
A 5 quattro 3 liter disel. After changing the cluch I realise the noise is coming from gearbox. Same noise like the video 1 and 2 gear. Probably 1800 cost.
I had the same problem, no noise when on clutch. I was told the bearings on my gear box had gone and I had to replace my whole gearbox. Cost me £600 all in for second hand gear box (£400) and labour (£200). I have a vw golf fsi, 6speed.
petrol gearboxes from vw are piece of shit. very noisy. very whiny. i have an octavia 3 with 1.8 tsi and it's a gem of an engine, very smooth. UNFORTUNATELY it is paired with the manual MQ250. It makes a rattle in 1st and less in 2nd. feels very loose, it jolts back and forth. Hate it really.

😁
My civic is making the same noise it goes away after half throttle but makes it in gears 1-5 unless I drive easy on it or just hit the gas 3/4th or so
would a clacking sound (3-4 clacks) on startup and clacking on idle indicate a gearbox bearing problem? maybe the clutch? 02T FVH box.
Please take a look at the link in the video description. Just added it right now.
Usually imput shaft bearings are the first to go in gearboxes.
Hello, have a nice day. I want to ask, can I install a golf 4 manual gearbox on a golf 5

I will add that if i decelerate with my foot off the clutch then i cant hear any noise either.
So what was the problem and how did you resolve it
diff bearing
why only in the 2nd gear? I have the same noise but only on the 2nd gear, I cant explain that
I have the same sound on second and Third Year Do you know What's the Problem no of the Two Years and you tell me that please
@@erenoglu by you i'm sure that the bearing is defect.

did that siren sound comes from gearbox ??

I get this noise if i press the clutch down a little bit from cold. It doesn't do it when the clutch is dipped or fully depressed.

Complete strip down of the gearbox is required in order to replace them bearings ...
So you did 50000 km after those sounds started?
theres a loud jerking sound coming from mine and it catches.. enough that it sheared off 3 of the 5 cv joint bolts
my 2015 nocking on de acceleration 3rd 4th 5th gear told layshaft bearing failed
Same news for me mechanic said either new transmission or live with it till it seizes

Which bearing is the problem
I have rattle noises that goes away when I press the clutch pedal. Did you experience that too?
Its your dual mass flywheel I believe
Mine is going to cost £868 to rebuild is that a okay price for a3 3.2v6 manual?
Is that exactly bearing?
Picked up a £600 Audi A4. Noticed gearbox oil low and dark. Still nowhere near as bad sounding as this. Did you get many more miles out of it?

Does the same noise occur in neutral at a raised rpm?

I drive a ford focus tdci 2.0, same problem when I step the clutch no noise, but when I let go I hear grinding noise. can somebody help me?? Thanks.
It could be your throw out bearing. I just replaced mine with the same problem
Neil Peng out of curiosity did you ever find out the problem? my car is making the same as you've explained.
