Thank you for the great video! 💚.
Few tips when comparing tastes of different powders:
- Use a palate cleanser if trying different Matchas at the same time.
- Whisk the matcha to froth (different in case of making koicha). Frothing the matcha affects the overall flavor and brings out its unique aroma. Some matchas will have a creamy velvety texture after whisking to froth that you won’t get in other types. The beauty of the frothy layer, the texture of the matcha after frothing it, and the details of its aroma are all parts of evaluating the quality of a powder.
- Try the powders one more time with double or triple the amount of water. You will be surprised how different flavors would “shine” or disappear, particularly the hint of natural sweetness and the pleasant vegetal flavor of ceremonial matcha. 😊
I bought your product thru Amazon before viewing this video and will like to tell you that I LOVE your tea. I am new to matcha and I am now hooked for life. Congratulations.
I am with you on that! I will be learning about your teas. 🤓 🍵 😃
I am matcha expert and I can tell you this review is poor. This is not a professional review. It is just expressing opinion of a layman.
Precisely.
@@skyrocket1170 hi would you be able to reckon any matcha comparison video?
Skip to the final results: 9:07
Thank you. Got damn she was wearing me out 😂😂😂
im so glad i found your comment
The reason for the clumping is because you didn’t sift it, you have to sift it before you add the water.since it is a powder, it’s nature is to clump, so you have to sift it before
No you don't have to sift it
Ya you said that. GAWD the matcha community is really stuck-up and pretentious
Good to know! Thanks!
You don’t necessarily have to sift it, but you do have to whisk it properly and not stir it in a circle for 5 seconds.
Yup I always sift a straight matcha!
Hi a Japanese girl here. My grandma would make me matcha so I’ve seen how matcha should be made. In this video she barely mixed the powder and she did it in a wrong way. You should move just your hands and keep your arms steady. And mix much faster than she did until the surface is covered by bubbles. And I was surprised by the little amount of water she added!! Like why so little??? Lol and matcha should be bitter. So it didn’t make sense to me when she was like ummmm this is bitter. Yes it is because it’s matcha. Wish she had done a little bit more research on how to make matcha properly if she was gonna rate them.
Doesn’t sift matcha and barely whisks it: “This one tends to clump”
I'm luckyvi have two whole food sellers close to Mr with around ten different types of matcha to try
Ahahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
Stephen S she never claimed to be a professional matcha taster, dipshit!
Lmao truth
@@reesecup6915 Well when you use key words like BEST, People intend on there to be a bit of professionalism.
I was lucky to get Matcha Moon and Jade Leaf as my first purchases you just validated how I felt about each of those matchas :)
Thank you for making this video!!! This helped so much. Love the ratings. :D
GM! My favorite is from First Harvest Tea, it is organic and ceremonial grade. $29.00. Got it from amazon as well.
Oh!! Haven’t heard of that ☺️ will def try!
The first matcha you used 2 scoops this should be done again as you began to use only one scoop for all others, not a fair taste test.
in part it's why it was clumpy.. twice the matcha in the same amount of water. But matcha clumps anyway... so..
That's what I was thinking!
Thank you for the info. I was just ready to order my next round of Matcha
I have a feeling you were paid for this review by jade leaf company ;)
Jade leaf ceremonial is a really bad matcha and you can tell by its color and lack of flavor.. My favorites are kenko and matcha konomi. I've been drinking matcha my entire life, and I think people who are just not used to tea cannot tell the difference between depth in flavor and bitterness..
I wasn’t actually! There are so many options out there, I just tried some and gave my honest opinion
I agree. Jade leaf is pretty bad. I tried the Organic Kenko and it's quite bitter, my fave is the Haru Matcha Organic. Bonus is that it's 40g vs 30g like most matcha out there.
Sorry for butting in but... I'm pretty new to matcha , and I really cant stand bitterness (I know matcha isn't supposed to be super bitter , what I meant is that i cant even drink coffee with 5 spoons of sugar its that bad lol) , what are some of the sweeter matchas you would recommend?
@@ina12123 You can just add sugar to taste and perhaps use less matcha powder.
Just add sugar free vanilla syrup and stevia unsweetened vanilla almond milk and add ice
Yum change once a week sooo good
Been waiting for you to do a video like this! My personal favorite from Amazon is Encha. It is by far the smoothest tasting.
Ooooo! I’ll have to try that one!!
Im a big fan of Encha also! Give Midori Springs Ceremonial Grade Gold Class a try too (link below). IMO it has a lighter flavor than Encha. Encha has a subtle earthy quality to it. Not bitter but definitely an earthy tinge.
Regardless, I love Encha Ceremonial and drink that the most.
Midori Springs Ceremonial:

Thank you for your quali-tea matcha review. 🍵
I have a 1 pound bag of jade leaf ceremonial coming tomorrow, yee! Thanks for the comparison.
While I was in Japan I bought Lupicia Ujitawara matcha. By far the best I have had. It's smooth, has a good flavor and a very deep green color.
Agree with Scott that it would be nice to see the colors of all the powders together in a piece of paper. I am also wondering what you think of Midori Spring.
I wish you would've also included the two you typically use. I would've appreciated the rating for those as well.
I love the Jade brand! I’m a Newby to matcha and it’s been great to get me used to the green tea taste. I can definitely drink it on its own too.
I also enjoyed your format for the taste test! The categories and scoring was on point.
Thanks!! And yes, jade is great!!
Simply Quinoa I bought my matcha powder from Walmart
Great video! I should have watched this before purchasing the US made matcha that I now have. Lol. Thank you!
Very helpful video with all the different Matcha brands out there.
Definitely gona try number 2 thanks for the tip! Iam looking for a coffee replacement during my afternoon study sessions!
Thank you for this video :) I haven't had matcha before but have seen various videos that mention/use it. Hadn't heard of it until such videos either. Maybe it's not a big thing here? Thank you for this though, it has made me interested to try matcha :)
It's nice to see several brands before and after brewing for color and texture. :) Some Matcha tea powders need to be sifted through a fine mesh strainer which breaks up the lumps. One of my favorite go-to Matchas tastes great but is very lumpy. I also whisk it into a loose paste at first with just a few drops of the water before adding the rest to make a smoother tea and it froths easier. :) Nice review!
Thanks for sharing! And glad you enjoyed it :)
Haven't watched yet but DoMatcha for the win here. Researched years back and have adored since.
So great!! It was def my runner up!
Where's the sifter? Where's the froth? You didn't even whisk it enough to get rid of the clumps and you're complaining about the tea clumping???
Please let us know where to purchase the bamboo whisk and measure spoon. TIA!
Alyssa would you do another video comparing other Matcha brands for ceremonial grade?thank you.
Says ceremonial grade in the video description.
I am soo happy you did this video! It's like u read my mind! I ended up buying the brand they sale at Peet's Coffee I can't remember what it's called! :/. But it's ok I think after this tin I'm going to have to try some of your recommendation! ♡♡♡♡Thank u!!!!
The water looked too hot with the first matcha and that could cause the matcha to burn, giving it a bitter taste. Would love to see a second review after you've finished using all 5. Do you still stand by your first impression of them all?
You use same blending broom for all, how would you know if the taste didn’t blend with the old
Okay. Now I'm trying "culinary grade" of the Jade Leaf, which is much much cheaper than the cermonial grade. Here's how it tastes:
1.) Yes, I detect "some" grassy flavorness...but not overwhelming. My concentration is 2.5 grams + 6 oz water.
2.) It tastes "less concentrated" than the ceremonial grade. So I may up the powder in the future.
3.) I notice it doesn't clump as much. ( I just mix this in a small plastic bottle with a block of ice and shake it hard)
I will continue my testing. If all goes well, I will be looking at buying larger volume for even more savings of this culinary grade. Currently, my daily dose is about 2.5 gms servings 3-4 times a day and I've had no stomach issues or anything. I notice the "caffeine" hit is quite mild. It's the difference between feeling "slightly sleepy" and "just not". I'm weaning off energy drinks so that's good.
i always drink full leaf tea co Ceromonial grade matcha and to me its the best tasting and you can buy in bulk
The special matcha whisk is to make a foamy layer on top, it tastes a lot better. ( that's why people use it rather than a spoon 😂)
I have the brand "carrington farms" that I just tried today. Not a fan. But I do want to try the jade leaf you suggested. Thank you!
How much do you use per cup? I usually use a teaspoon... Is that too much? I bought the kind from Costco, Matcha is expensive! I know you prefer ceremonial grade but is there a difference in the health benefits?
Nice review! Would love to see what you think of "Encha" and "Midori Springs" matcha ceremonial grade in a future video. For the color comparison, it would be nice to see all of the matcha powders out side-by-side on a white piece of paper.
One question - when you are whisking, are you stopping once the powder is stirred like you showed in the video or are you whisking and getting the frothy appearance?
Scott Ethington I have tried Encha and it’s the best I’ve tasted smooth and delicious. Everything about their company is awesome. I doubt you would be disappointed at all. Worth the price and trying. 🍵
@@annalukarsono9428
Glad to see you also enjoy Encha! Encha Ceremonial has been my fav since I tried it last year. However, I tried another brand only a few weeks ago that I like even more.
Ippodo Tea Co. Check them out when you get a chance. I really enjoyed the Ippodo Matcha - Rich - Ummon-no-mukashi.
Hi!! How are you doing so far??? Mmmmmm... I loooooove Matcha and its my favourite!! I like the Jade leaf product!! Taste so delicious and sweet drink!! Great taste test!! Enjoy your drink and see u anytime!!
Thanks for the coupon on adaptogen powders just ordered some . I love all the different websites to checkout. I became a member of Thrive through you as well. You are one of my top favorite youtubers😀
how do you set up your camera to record over the bowl when you whisk?
Love the bowl you used! Where did you get it?
Can you cover 1. if we should order fromJapan 2. ideal containers thank you
Full Leaf Tea Co is good!
Also Rishi! Have you tried that one?
How much money do you spend on groceries each month? Just curious
I bought some empty capsules, does anybody know if I can just put matcha in them and drink them like that?
I can't imagine coconut butter with matcha, but then again, I don't like anything in my tea and only unsweetened almond milk in my coffee. It's the texture that bugs me for some reason.
Do a review on the DavidsTea straight matchas! Matcha matsu, grand cru matcha and organic ceremonial matcha. Would love that!!
Great video! You're not claiming to be a expert so I appreciate your video although alot of people had valid points it's your video and your opinion.
Thank u hun for your review. I have never bought matcha online, yet!
And for all the haters out there, why do u need to be negative.
It's her opinion! If u think u can do better, make your own video.
Love not hate 😍
Ashleigh Hiebert don’t buy from amazon. If you want good quality matcha buy from kettl or rishi. Both have a good selection with good prices. Kettl is my favorite but it does have higher shipments cost with it shipping from Japan.
@@JT-zy2ft awesome, thank you! 😁
Highly recommend Reserve Matcha.
I'd like to see a nutritional comparison as well. Taste isn't the end all and be all and I'd gladly swap between similar tasting ones if the nutritional profile was better.
"Tends to be clumpy made the traditional way." Lol. Shows how much you DON'T know. Title should read "BEST TASTING MATCHA POWDER IN MY OPINION."
It's important to know that ALL matcha products are good from a health viewpoint.
The ratings 'better' or 'best' are about artistic values --taste, fragrance, appearance.
Where did you buy the wooden spoon or scoop?
You sold me on jade leaf. Thank you.
great video. thank you
I buy mine directly from Kyoto- hi-bikian, bought it there when I visited and a year later the best tour was their free tour of their farms!! The original green tea farms from the first seeds from China. If your going to drink matcha drink the best!! And it’s very streamlined and all grades!!!
which one do you buy
Very helpful. Thank you
You're so welcome!
hiya i have one or 2 questions about this if ur willing to answer please. no worries if not.
Thanks for this video! What are your thoughts on the Trader Joe's brand of matcha powder?
I haven’t tried! I don’t shop at Trader Joe’s in nyc bc it’s sooo busy but I’d love to hear your thoughts if you try it!
Yeeeesssd thank u
I buy my teacher directly from the I'm the country like when I buy Russian tea I get it from Russia when I buy tea from Nepal I get it from Nepal. like the Himalayas I could tea from all over the world
Have you counted the number of times you say definitely? not just in this video but in general :P
Genevieve Peres Have you counted the amount of people who really care! Why are women on RUclips such superficial bitches towards other women? I'm guessing it's definitely something to do with either jealously or social inadequacy. We all look
forward to the birth of your RUclips channel! Definitely!
Many thanks. always sweet ladies has good taste . I tried these matches . I even traveled to japan and korea to taste their matcha there also .
Theres a running dialogue on Amazon that DO Matcha is actually from China and not Japan as advertised. I have it and not so impressed.
one suggestion of something to try for those that use sugar with their matcha. try mixing the matcha powder and the sugar together well before adding liquid. I have found this actually helps avoid clumps and makes the matcha easier to mix. I also have a request I would love to use ceremonial grade but with the amount I go through in a month it would cost me over a $160 a month so I stick to culinary grade. Any suggestion on best culinary grade matcha that does not cost an arm and a leg?
BTW If anyone is wondering: I drink matcha many different ways from strong shots to weaker iced lattes
so you barely whisk the first one and it's clumpy in your eyes, then you put in your elbow grease into the second one and its smooth..? Oh I do wonder why
Hey SQ, how about reviewing Moringa Powder ~ the tree of life?
Just curious, why do you feel color is important? I don’t know much about matcha tea except I love matcha tea vegan ice cream!
It's suppose to show quality. The more vibrant green it is, the higher quality is.
The color reflects the level of chlorophyll, which demonstrates attention to quality and proper growing methods by the tea harvesters.
Have you tried pure chimp?
It is delicious and taste like sweet grass 😃
Just bought Jade Leaf from amazon 100g for about $50. I drink 2g's at a time with 6 oz cold water just shaken in a plastic bottle with a stainless steel or glass ball. I'm a beginner with this stuff, but I don't detect much bitterness or grassy flavor. I'm trying to replace my energy drink habit with matcha. However, I want to bring down the cost but maintain the quality. Does anyone have any recommends?
Can I drink matcha powder with COLD WATER? I don’t like hot drinks.
Yes. It dissolves better with hot water. So just chill it afterwards.
Sifting the powders should eliminate lumps.
Have you tried MatchaBar ? It’s not on amazon but there matcha powder is great and can be made hot or cold!!
No!! I’ll def look into that 😘
Simply Quinoa you can also try there bottled match at all Whole Foods!! They are the best hands down!
@@BaiBeautyLee I was thinking of buying it, have you compared it to other matchas? I was also considering matcha kari, ujido, ippedo and lucia
some of these comments are unkind. im sorry about that. i appreciate you and this video, i am just now starting out in this matcha craze and exploring options :D
Jade Leaf is no where close to Akira's superior quality. Your water is to hot and I recommend using 1 scoop. When whisking use a W motion instead of circles. Just trying to help out.
If you say “definitely” once more, the Universe WILL implode!
Srsly. Stawp it....0_o
shut up
nice
Ippodo matcha is great too
I like the Mae-da one that I buy at Nijiya Market
I use perfect keto matcha! It is my favorite. It already has MCT oil in it! Drink this everyday. I have tried Domatcha brand but like Perfect Keto better!
Cool!! I’ve never heard of that, so thanks for sharing!!
Organic Matcha's gonna have a bit more of a bitter taste due to bugs loving that sweet taste on non organic, so they use pesticides, but you get a sweet flavor versus organic which do not use pesticides but will be bitter.
When you say "grassy-flavor" do you mean an aftertaste that is fishy or sea-weed-like? I ask because that is the flavor, or aftertaste, I experience after drinking Matcha lattes.
Yesss sameee
None of these had the froth like in the preview image. She just “mixed” them, didn’t whisk them up to the right consistency.
where to store matcha tea , in the fridge?
Vivo matcha tea :)
Anyone know of good Culinary matcha on amazon that is not too brown
Some of her choices are labeled as MATCHA (DO Matcha is one of them) while others are labeled as MATCHA POWDER? I dont kno what that means? So I wonder if they are actually the same thing? I really dont know... but i'am guessing MATCHA-POWDER may be blended with something and may not be a traditional MATCHA? i also noticed that DO Matcha (which is NOT labeled a powder) is more expensive.... and she doesnt like it 6:33 :)
Thank you as always ^_^ 💐✨🍎🥑🍌
Do matcha sounds like the best quality based off your ratings
People really take their matcha seriously, lol! Really want to order a matcha powder, sadly there isn’t any health food store near me. So still not sure what brand to order...
The Konomi averages out to 4, not 3.25 you didn't your math wrong (9:30)
Too bad she didn’t review the Encha ceremonial matcha I hear it’s better than all of the ones she reviewed
Why color is important if you have separate rating for quality? Educate me please.
Hm.
I’m definitely over this review
Mei Leaf channel on RUclips does an excellent video on Matcha. They are a tea company.
thats not how you whisk literally google how to do it
Obvious hasn’t had some proper training. She should of put through a sieve to avoid the climbs and then whisk in the proper W or M style. Unfortunately it’s hard to learn the proper technique as there are more videos out there that do it wrong - hopefully by now she has learned the proper way. Technique and tools DEFINITELY affect taste.
That's not the best use of the word literally, Google it...
LITERALLY
You have to sift it! Good review tho
how many servings do you get out of the 1 oz jar?
