  • The symptoms of tinnitus can vary significantly from person to person. You may hear phantom sounds in one ear, in both ears, and in your head. The phantom sound may ring, buzz, roar, whistle, hum, click, hiss, or squeal. The sound may be soft or loud and may be low or high pitched. It may come and go or be present all the time. Sometimes, moving your head, neck, or eyes, or touching certain parts of your body may produce tinnitus symptoms or temporarily change the quality of the perceived sound.

      I
The roaring in my ears has gone down. Not gone , mind you, and it is still loud, but not "roaring" 24-7 like it was. Been taking gaba every morning for nine months. Some days, it does flare back up for 1-2 days. I have noticed that if I eat out, which we seldom do, and have a spicy, salty meal, the sounds in my head are worse. the next morning. I have high blood pressure, but it's under control. A very salty meal seems to make the noise worse. Being outside on a windy day makes it worse. I wear ear protection when doing any noisey work, even at wedding receptions, the movies , anywhere it's loud, because the following day my head is roaring for a day or two. Here's are a couple important points : Teach yourself to live with it. It's the cross you're going to carry and don't let it destroy your life. I've lived with this since the mid70's. There's lots of people that are blind, deaf, amputated legs. . . The list is endless. Count your blessings, always be thankful for what you do have, for they are many. I pray every day and thank God every day. It is what it is and we can handle whatever is thrown at us. . . Like they say, "It's all in your head."

In Europe, where I live, all manufacturers of cigarettes are required to put a warning on the packaging. This should also be done with packaging for headphones and Earphones. At concerts, warnings should be visible to all and by law the promoter should provide free ear plugs. I still can't believe how clueless people are and don't know what danger they are exposing themselves to.

I've had constant tinnitus for 30 years since an ill-fated journey through Java. It was horrible the first years, after that I learnt the best trick to deal with it and since I've been ok with it. The trick is to learn to ignore it, keep your focus as far away from it as possible, then keep stress levels to a minimum. Not perfect of course as it doesn't go away and then the hearing is certainly compromised, but the goal is to stop feeling hopeless and get over it as much as you possibly can. Good luck all.

At 70 years old I take enough pills to choke a horse already. When getting my hearing aids many years ago the doctor told me something that helped reduce my tinnitus and my anxiety. He said, "You can train your brain to ignore it." I found you can train your brain to ignore anxiety too. I get in a calm place, close my eyes and talk to my brain with my thoughts. I tell it to just ignore that, it's not important. In just a short time I found this does work, but does need reinforcing regularly. But, it's not pills, it doesn't cost anything and it's very relaxing! I think what it does, is sublimely suggest something and your brain picks up on it. Subluminal messages on TV and in movies were deemed illegal in advertising, because it worked so well. Why not use it for good? Good luck and I hope this helps. It for sure can't hurt you.

Anything that calms the nervous system can also go too far in that direction. In doing so, for instance, there could be a lack of energy, slower digestion, depression. This can also happen when people self prescribe Ashwaghanda. It can suppress cortisol, but when taken too long or at too high a dose, there may be fatigue and depression as well. Medicine is a very individual experience and in this new age of information, it’s hard to stay in front of all the things people are told they need…be it turmeric, cinnamon, ashwaghanda, ginger…older more seasoned systems of medicine are very careful to say “everyone” needs any one thing, with the exception of water, breath and to chew more

And we are trained to work along side pharmaceuticals, which can be done safely with good training. So much modern ‘herbalism’ looks more like experimentation once you’ve seen the depths of comprehensive vetted herbalism

It's so hard to give up booze, I'm hooked. But I know you are right, I can feel it, I always thought because alcholol is a toxin, can give braindamage, and our hearing is a delicate process involving the brain, so, it makes a lot of sense! But I might get GABA also, if it reduces anxiety, I might be less tempted to drink in the evenings. God bless!

Mine too. I've had tinnitus almost all of my life. It would come and go. It sounded like a freight train approaching in the distance and once it got loud it would slowly go away. I knew when it was going to happen. I would get lightheaded when it got the loudest. That went on for 40 years I would say. Then I was on an anti-anxiety medicine but the doc weened me off of it about 3 + years ago. That's when it got worse. And never left. I explained all of this to the doc but instead sent me to therapy. I quit after 6 months. Waste of time and money. I know why my life went downward. And I know my childhood, my behavior, etc and I've made peace with it. I lived a normal, boring, human life. Now I just want silence. So, in conclusion, in my case, stopping the xanax made my tinnitus permanent.
      Thanks for listening.

As a sufferer of tinnitus all my life, 50years in and tried everything. I may try this. But the only time I stopped it was by accident.
I was hedge cutting with a long reach hedge trimmer and held it whilst running against the side of my head...... and tinnitus stopped for that brief period.
I have tried everything under the sun tbh, nothing works.
I have spent ££££'s to just lower it to the point I can hear in my left ear, but nope.
I'm hard of hearing in both ears now, so I just avoid conversations and gatherings and it suits my introvert self perfectly 👍
It's only in the last 8years I can't converse on the phone so ask my client's to text as I can't hear jack, just learned to live around it. But I do hope this works for some.

I had bad plaque psoriasis all over me for years. I researched diseases of AGING and learned that older folks often have serious Vitamin B12 deficiencies because they lack enough stomach acid to digest and absorb even swallowed supplements. The key is to take Vitamin B12 supplements in dissolving flavored lozenges UNDER THE TONGUE, "sub-lingual." One thousand milligrams per day is no problem, and my psoriasis immediately started clearing up and was GONE within a month! No more scratching and flaking! The most effective variety, which costs only a little more than the "Cyano-Cobalamin B12" used in most supplements, is "Methyl-Cobalamin B12." Much more effective........................elsullo

Do NOT take 750 mg if you've never taken this before, or haven't built up to it!!
I got the 750 mg, after reading the reviews, and took one. 30 minutes later on my way to lunch I got what felt like the Niacin flush, but I was also super dizzy. I thought I was going to faint. I had to pull over until it passed.
I read more information on it and learned that you're not supposed to start out with that much. You're supposed to start out with 125 mg and build up to 750 mg, IF you need to.
I know you mean well doc, but you really need to give MORE information on a supplement.

True, so is Dr Berg, but it doesn't mean they haven't studied topics and remedies. Doc Mandell has shared some great natural remedies that do work, he just needs to make sure he's not telling people to take high amounts on first time doses of something they haven't built up to.
I will say this though, Dr Berg always lists the side effects, says who shouldn't take something, always recommends checking with your doctor first, especially if you're on meds, and has never recommended starting something at a too high level. At least not that I've seen.
I've shared what's worked for me with various things, but always warn people they should start with lower amounts until they get used to it or see how they respond and always check with their doctor to make sure they are safe to take it.

Most of the time it's kind of like background noise, you don't really notice it until you really focus on it.
But there are times where suddenly it's just loud. If our little security alarm at our front door at work is going off it sounds like a big stereo of loud high pitch noise.

If i woke up still feeling groggy ,i can modulate it by going back to about 60% half asleep or half awake. I can somehow manipulate it. But there are days where evrythng wont work. Taking a nap or fallen asleep while in a car will mke it worse.

Warning on GABA overdose! While I've seen the 750mg twice a day protocol elsewhere, so it's not exclusive to this video, the dose may be too high for some as I experienced myself. I started with 750mg twice daily right away and initially felt noticeable improvement in my sleep quality. However, after over a week I started experiencing worrisome symptoms like shortness of breath, tingling in my head, drowsiness, lightheadedness, like about to faint. This naturally caused great anxiety and worry, especially as the intensity of these symptoms was progressing every day. Before going to the doctor for an urgent checkup , I instinctively Googled GABA overdose symptoms and immediately recognized all of them. I stopped taking GABA immediately and all of these symptoms vanished within a few days. My doctor acknowledged GABA, but recommended melatonin for my insomnia, which funny enough caused the worst onset of insomnia I have ever had, but that's a different story. I'm keen on trying GABA again for sleep but am very hesitant of the side effects and unsure of safe lower dose. Any recommendations are welcome in the comments. I did not experience any improvement with my tinnitus, most likely due to my experiment cut short by the side effects. Hope this may warn or educate others.
