It's kind of assholish to assert this, when it's all a matter of personal taste. SL is a fine story.
ORV is more complicated but aswell easy to read at the same time, with great characters and peak worldbuilding. i dont care about any character in SL than sung jinwoo and cha hae in but there are many awesome characters in ORV.
I love ORV, I bought it's bundle and reread it many times already. With the amount of glazing SL haters keep on throwing, I know for sure it will not live up to the hype on release.
What makes it great is that it's fantastic in everything it does. First and maybe 2nd season would be like watching FMA and reaching only until meeting Greed at best. Not enough to turn heads but enough to stick to those that finished it for probably a very long time. It sets standards one step at a time

The fantasy of a stepmother is actually pretty emotional. It follows the story of a young widow, trying to raise and connect with her "children" that is close enough in terms of age to her.
The art is really good. mysteries and deep hidden memories are uncovered as the story progresses.
Really recommend it if you want something different from shonen story line (since this is more of a josei/seinen)

A Man's Man is actually a really good read, I can recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different, less about the MC getting rich/powerful and more about the MC trying to do right by all the people he screwed over in his first life.

Garnt's description of ORV kind of underplays it.
Kim Dokja, read( lowkey obsession) a 'shitty' novel with 3000+ chapters throughout several years. Said shitty novel has a regressor for it's protagonist with it's plot having the mc redo the entire story for a better outcome (it's too many retries). 1 chapter away from the ending, the shitty novel comes to reality, it basically overlaps to what is real so there exists real humans like KDJ and novel characters as well.
In that shitty novel, the characters are forced to be part of 'scenarios' with each one being different from the other. There also exists higher beings that can sponsor them various abilities and items. First most important thing KDJ needs to do is to make it such that the mc has no reason to use his regression capabilities since KDJ has no idea what repercussions it will produce for them real humans. Btw, the ending of the novel isn't released. No one, even the higher beings has reached the ending. No one even knows how to reach it. They're all in this just because of the entertainment called star stream that forces them to be part of the scenarios
There's also a movie in the making with some of Korea's most famous actors/actresses. They say it's a trilogy but it's been years since announcement idk when they'll release

Tbf, solo leveling is just another power fantasy, with a too good of an art for just another power fantasy. So its difficult to expect a good story from it. Its very weak in terms of story.
If you want a well written power fantasy, read tensura or overlord.
After you finish SO you should definitely watch log horizon its really cool and got a good story. And i do think a lot of people would also vote for it if its available in a poll.

Cultivation novel are like more 2000 chapters and is fun you read alot like that and some are the ones the bigin the webtoon or manwara
Reborn Rich also has a kdrama, pretty good just the ending is quite lacking (since the webtoon is not finished so it has to make its own ending)

I feel like solo leveling written by very unsocial guy. All based on power system and there's almost nothing other than getting strong. Which is japanese animes really not alike about. Animes are filled with so many stuffs. So many emotions. With having such a boring character like sung jin woo, the story is already doomed. You could love it as a child but it's f*cking boring as an adult. It's really predictable
True. I love Solo Leveling, but it's basically OP Protagonist stomps everything. Right now, I prefer SSS-Class Suicide Hunter. The protagonist has more character development and power upgrade (Not OP).

@@nicktrista3397OP is overpowered where the guy can just blitz through all his opponents. His ability is very powerful, but not overpowered. The only thing overpowered is how he can't die. But that just saying Subaru (Re Zero) is OP.
What I truly mean how he is not OP was because of how difficult it was to clear each level. He had to try and dying hundreds of time before he can succeed.
Also, unlike the usual OP Protagonist. He relies on other peoples instead of himself most of the time.

The biggest issue with the pre hype solo leveling got was that A-1 would not be able to deliver on the visuals. Don't get me wrong, A-1 contracted some talented individuals who produced some amazing scenes, but the bar of expectations was far above A-1's reach.
Here's to hoping season 2 shows an improvement
ORV and SL both have strengths, and anyone could say one or the other's story is better. They're not very comparable.
What I'd like to bring up is how dumb Gigguk's complaint on the "SL is better SAO" is, which is "wym Jin-Woo is more perfect than Kirito ever was!". He totally ignores the reason why SAO is dumb is cuz of its atrocious writing, and how kirito is "capable" in ways that don't make any sense! Like him being able to sense killing intent or some shit in a VIDEO GAME.
I also wanna bring up that Gigguk has similar criticism of SL to a guy called Nux Taku, who stated he hasn't read the second half of the manhwa, which is when the story actually starts explaining shit! So it's likely they're both talking about it while only knowing SL as the story with a badass MC and nothing deeper.
But I'd say SL's second half , specifically the manhwa, is verrrry poorly adapted, which doesn't help much... but it still shows hints of the light novel's quality.

You seem very fond of SL, but writing consistency aside, ORV is more rich, covers more themes, and has more depth. Both SL and ORV are part of power fantasy, so it's strange that you would say they're not comparable.They are fundamentally comparable, and ORV is 'superior', but it really is a matter of what you like more.

@@lemontheone9342 you say more rich and covers more things, but that by itself doesn't say much. You could also say that the complexity is a bad thing, because literally ANYTHING can happen. Sure it helps the writer express their creativity, but that same thing doesn't make the story deep. The main character and their journey does. I could even turn it around and say that because SL didn't introduce a bunch of random ideas and conscpets like ORV did, it focused on what it needed for the story it wanted to tell.
One story is simple, the other is complicated, so saying "ORV is soooo much better cuz its so complex!" says nothing.
@@sleepyash6839 Complexity wouldn't mean anything if the story couldn't handle its complexity and imploded. But it turns out, both SL and ORV can be mindlessly read and enjoyed. In a sense, ORV is just as simple as SL. And to achieve that fluidity with more variables and themes is objectively harder than maintaining the fluidity of a story like SL that doesn't have much substance. But regardless, it really is a matter of what you like more, because being more rich/having more depth is not an objective indicator of a "better story". I did point this out in my previous comment. I'm trying to say that while one story may not be objectively better than the other, they're definitely comparable/compatible.

God of highschool was done dirty. It's a really good webtoon but the adaptation was just bad. The anime itself is enjoyable but cramming 113 chapters in 13 episodes should be considered criminal 😭
