Just recent bought the middle priced unit and took it on our camping trip Memorial Day weekend. It worked as designed and was a great addition for a hot shower, a quick wash up and washing dishes. A+++
New to your channel. Just starting my off grid cabin. This water heater is awesome. Thanks! Much WV Love and Many Prayers! I’ll be sure to share with my subscribers! 💙💛🙏
It’s wonderful to have you with the channel! I look forward to getting to know you. I will definitely check out your channel I believe in supporting like minded people in our community. Have an awesome week!
Nothin like a hot shower after a day fishing of working or playing in the woods. Looks like a great product. I us an instant electric water heater in my garage bathroom and Iv had good luck with it going on 10 years now.
Don't know if you have electricity at the cabin but was thinking solar panel to keep the battery charged should work good and keep the battery charged if the solar panel is large enough.
Yes we have solar power at the cabin, it doesn’t take much to charge this unit. We have been using it for almost 2 years now and we absolutely love it. If you are interested in seeing the cabin feel free to check out some of my other videos. Thank you for watching
lifererouted I love your channel! This water heater would work perfect for people on the go. Great for camping, RVing, or at the cabin. I wish I would’ve known about this product years ago:)
MommaVapes Beauty I had no idea either. I’ve been using the shower now for a half year and it has worked perfect every time. I just charge the battery once a month To be safe
how many min does it give you off 5 gallons, also how many green bottles, so if you took a 15 min-20 shower would 5 gallons last that and one green bottle, if not how many of both. also if there is no electric it goes down then what? can it be powered by solar or is htere a solar device same thing?
The shower can be used with electric however it comes with a rechargeable built-in battery in case you don’t have electric. We recharge ours before we go to the cabin and it easily last all week and we strictly run off the battery only.I’ve never really timed our showers but it is an endless source of hot water, so on days where I feel I need a half an hour or more to shower I just simply use a bigger water source. Right now we have the heater connected to a bigger propane source but if I remember correctly a green bottle would almost last a week. Sorry I can’t be more specific I don’t work for the company. I just shared the video because we are so pleased with the results we are getting from the heater. I’m sure if you want on Mr. heater‘s website they could supply you with better information.Good luck in your research, thank you so much for watching
Do you know of a good solution for providing hot water to a sink? I have an outbuilding that I use a heat garden hose to provide water to. Would like to be able to wash my hands with hot water ?
The battery in this particular unit is set up to be charged by 120 V so you would need to plug it into your inverter. I usually only have to charge it about once a month. Thanks for watching
Hello, when researching this product, I noticed they do not offer the faucet/spout anymore. Was the spout an optional item? Looks like this product may be on the way to being discontinued...did it hold up well for you? Thank you in advance for your reply!
I haven’t heard about them discontinuing the spout. I know when I purchased mine I had to pay a little extra and do a little digging to find the model with it. I think retailers get in the habit of just selling the most popular models. You might want to check on Amazon, my buddy just bought one off of Amazon. Now that we have had it for a quite a while I can honestly say it is still holding up and doing great. Just make sure you maintain the battery on a regular basis and you should be fine
It looks like it’s currently out of stock but here was the link that my buddy got it from www.amazon.com/dp/B011TRLUS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_o5s4FbBV8FZDH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1#
just now watched your portable outdoor shower "Boss" from mr heater video. Question.. does the water shut off? does the shower head have a shut off? I am thinking putting this next to a shower stall at camp. Would set a 5 gallon bucket of water next to it. This looks like it runs full time though. was hoping you could only call for water as needed to conserve the water. so you could get wet, turn off water. lather up. turn water on again and rinse. So, a 5 gallon bucket of water would easily be enough for a camp shower. if it ran full time, I would think 5 gallons would not last long enough.
It doesn’t have an in-line shut off on the waterline, however, I have a shelf next to my shower and I just reach over and turn off the switch on the heater. It’s pretty simple and really doesn’t require any extra effort. There are other models that do have an in-line shut off on the waterline You would have to do a little research. I’ve heard good and bad things about them that’s why I chose this model. Good luck
There are a couple of different models of instantaneous water heater’s on the market. This specific water heater is designed just to pump water from a reservoir. I guess you could say it’s designed for more of a camping situation. I’ve seen a couple out there that are designed to connect to your water supply but at this time I couldn’t recommend any of them. Good luck, thank you for watching
We have this base camp and love it at our cabin. This year having problems with the burner lighting. We do have it connected to power. If the battery is bad will this cause this even if it’s connected to power?
Thanks for giving me the heads up. It sounds like your Igniter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Stay in touch let me know what happens please
Thank you so much for your participation and subscribing! I have been using the shower since last spring and it works absolutely great. It’s easy to charge and the battery has lasted a very long time between charging. In the spring I am going to build a bathhouse and I will feature this shower again and give an update.
Hi, Great presentation, do you have a thought about in home use considering where the country’s inflation is heading? Thinking of shutting down oil until winter but there are still dishes and bodies to wash. Does the unit mention propane to gal per min for either the little bottles or other? God bless
It’s basically made for remote camping, You could use it as a back up in case of emergency. We’ve had ours for two years now and we love it but we are only using it part time. We still live in our primary residence
Eco makes a pretty good water heater. Most of their heaters are set up for homes that have running water. I am not sure if they make a battery operated unit that has its own siphon pump. It would be worth looking into but they are also a little expensive and I am trying to do this on a poor man’s budget.
Does this have rechargeable batteries? I was looking at them on amazon and in the question and answer part it said they were not rechargeable. You state you charged yours. Just making sure before i order one. Also some bad reviews on them but wondering after you have had it for awhile if you are running into any problems.
I’ve had mine for a year now and I have had no problem. Almost all the complaints usually stem from people not charging the battery on a regular basis, and yes there is a rechargeable battery in this model. Several of the people that I talked with before purchasing the unit all were happy and counseled me to do the same
I couldn’t say for sure but under normal usage we charge the battery about once a month. We’ve been using it for a year now and it has been wonderful. Battery seems to last forever it is really only needed to run the pump and start the igniter. It is extremely important to charge the battery whether it needs it or not every other month. The batteries do go bad if you don’t maintain them like the manufacturer suggest. Otherwise no problem
I’ll have to check them out, thanks for the tip! It looks like the unit for $135 doesn’t come with a shower or the sink spout. Am I wrong? It looks like the one comparable to this one is roughly $315. Very interesting thank you for sharing
Yeah have water. Hot water is so helpful. What was the model name again? I really appreciate your ideas because I’m gonna do a off grip cabin also. Gathering all your info. Fantastic stuff. Thank you!!
I believe it is made by Mr. heater and the model is called the Boss XW 18. you can find them on Amazon and I believe bass pro shops and Cabela’s sells them too.I wish I would’ve bought one years ago they were great. Good luck with your cabin and have a great week
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video,This model is the XW 18. It’s been over a year since I made this video and so far I have no complaints. It works excellent
You can pick them up at about any major sporting goods store or Amazon. Here is a link that I found To a little bit cheaper model.Thank you so much for watching.Cabela’s sells a little bit nicer one like the one I have. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B011TRLVP0/ref=psdcmw_3754791_t1_B07KWSL3D2#
aybe they can switch them to lithium ion batteries. They do not suffer memory effect. I also saw in a review a fellow saw that this unit will raise the water source 40 degree F. So if the water is 35 it's only going to heat it to 75. Is this true?
The lithium battery would be an awesome upgrade, great idea! I haven’t experienced my heater not heating all the way. I suppose if you have very cold water it could have only a 40° change in temperature. Our bathing water is kept at room temperature so maybe that’s why we haven’t experienced any difficulties. I suppose if you were getting your water from an ice cold source you could just circulate it back into a container for a minute until it warms up a little. I hope this helps, good luck!
Here is a link that I have to the product. Thank you so much for watching!! www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiZuIOU_4f2AhUEGa0GHRg3BkUYABAIGgJwdg&ae=2&sig=AOD64_1OjtaXD7U_QskCj_d7yLVyjEG7OQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjPhu2T_4f2AhUeEjQIHXH_DqsQwg96BAgBEBY&dct=1&adurl=
So far I am on track to have everything done for under $20,000 including the cabin, bath house, and garage. I am planning on having an update video on where our budget is after the bathhouse build in the spring.
If I had a print shop I would fix your shirt. The “can’do’er “ attitude one brings from a father land would show strength as it points to its head on its shoulders. Small change but big impact. I Love knowledge that helps save us from trouble. P.S. hopefully shipping won’t be an issue.
I wish i had seen this last week. It was on sale for Amazon Prime for $163! I decided to pay $100 more for the Coleman one because the Mr Heater had so many bad reviews. People said the water never got hot. You are right that all battery dependent devices have to be charged while being stored. This is the pain of owning these types of items.
All of these heaters are pretty competitive. I’ve had mine for two years now and it has always worked perfect. All you have to do is maintain the battery. Good luck, thanks for watching
How about a video about the water you put in the bucket for showering .... filtered rain water? How to store large amounts of filtered rain water so it doesn't "go bad"? Is there another step one would need to take to make the filtered rain water drinkable? I looked through your videos first to see if you had already did a video on this. I didn't see one. If you have could you list the link in a response please. Thank you! And thank you for the info in this video!
Like this guy said it takes a very strong commitment to live off grid.. the majority of people cannot make that commitment... That's why they fail and have problems... I will look into this water heater for sure...I spend a lot of time on the road in my RV which is already set up...but I do like to take very long showers so maybe this is a good alternative... As my RV only has a 6 gallon heater which you can take about a 15 minute shower no problem... But I do find this interesting... And anything to make life cheaper is a benefit..
This would be a great backup heater for your RV. I’m usually not a big advocate for instantaneous water heaters but this little heater really does produce. My wife and kids are thrilled that they can take long showers at the end of the day. The one thing I would recommend though, is make sure you keep the battery charged year around. If you neglect the battery it could cause problems.
Karl thanks for video. Have 3 questions. 1 - on a full charge how many gallons of hot water can it produce? 2- can u leave the unit in on position all the time? 3- can it be run off electricity? Thank you!
This particular model is designed for camping or off grid use. Mr. heater doesn’t have any information available as to how many gallons of continuous water it uses before it needs to be recharged. From personal experience my wife and I use it for showers and we charge it once every three weeks if it needs it or not. If you are looking for a model that you can hard pipe into your house or cabin this is not the model you would want. I’m sure you could go on Mr. heater’s website and check out other models that they sell for continuous use. I hope this is the information you were looking for, thanks for watching and commenting
I like it but it's out of my budget. Another option is, if you already have a gas stove, heat up the water in a big soup pan to the desired temperature, about 40C will be nice, then use a powered shower which is USB charged. I got one as a present so that was free. You'll probably need a big pan - maybe 20 litres - then you've got the same elements of the portable outdoor shower. You won't get instant hot water but you'll probably save a lot of money. I love your dog.
Great questions! This particular water heater works off of propane only. I have been using it for two years now and it has worked flawlessly. Keep in mind we are not at the cabin full-time yet. We do have very hard water but we haven’t had any issues yet. There are several different manufacturers on the market nowadays, we just chose this one because it met our needs. Good luck in your search, thank you so much for watching
I’ve been using it for two years now and it still has been working great. There are plenty out there, do your homework first it will definitely pay off. Thank you for watching
When I bought my little off grid cabin it came with a Honda 2000 generator and a Yodi shower hot water heater, a propane stove that looks like a woodstove and mower, all kinds of tools and was furnished. The God I works the same but uses D cell batteries. I'm still gonna look into this one tho. Better to get spare everything.
This unit is not really designed to be a permanent fixture. However, they do make instantaneous water heaters designed for campers etc... The reason we like this unit is because if we want to use it while camping, we can take it outside and shower without steaming up the camper. If it’s too cold outside we simply bring it in and set it on the shelf while using it. They do have a warning not to use it inside in case if it malfunctions it could create carbon monoxide. We have extra detectors in our cabin and we have never had any problems with it being inside
It’s worked flawlessly for me. I bought it because it comes from a great company that stands behind their product. If you end up purchasing one just make sure you charge the battery every three months. The only bad thing I have heard about any instantaneous water heater is that the batteries die if you don’t maintain them.
Run Away RV Nesters There’s several different companies that make these. I love this one, the hot showers are incredible, low cost, And you can shower just about anywhere. I wish I would’ve known about this year’s ago. Thanks for your comment
David Powell you’re going to love it. The main thing is remember to charge your battery every other month whether it needs it or not. That’s the only thing I heard of anyone having problems with
Not this particular model, However, I believe they make a model that does. You may want to search “Mr. heater tankless water heaters“. Either way they are awesome for camping or living off the grid

It's all about the batteries in solar so if you don't have the aptitude for electronics don't get solar, it'll be a waste of money. When you learn solar electronics you'll know exactly what he's talking about and MORE. Do not discharge batteries past 50-60% period or you'll shorten the life dramatically. This is what we tell people about solar, the panels are nothing to be concerned about but the battery maintenance is the system so batteries, controller, inverter are key, I won't get into BMS and the other parts.
I saw a video, earlier, about an 'off grid' wood heater.. it was made of clay and was outside. Had a coil, made around it and would heat up water, using convection to pull the cold water out of the tank and then heat it up. Just sayin'!
That’s a pretty cool way of heating your water. I have the same set up but with a 55 gallon drum. It works very good but it requires lots of your time. If you have lots of time on your hands that is a very rewarding way of heating your water.Up here in the north it works great in the summer but it’s not very efficient for the winter. If you choose to go that way consider what the winters are like in your area. Good luck
Are you really German, where did you come from and where do you live right now? I really like your videos. I believe it is made by Mr. heater and the model is called the Boss XW 18. you can find them on Amazon and I believe bass pro shops and Cabela’s sells them too.I wish I would’ve bought one years ago they were great. Good luck with your cabin and have a great week
Something i haven’t asked, how big your generator to plug into cabin? What brand did you go with?
Hey great vid, what model is it?
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video,This model is the XW 18. It’s been over a year since I made this video and so far I have no complaints. It works excellent
Is there a link to purchase?
You can pick them up at about any major sporting goods store or Amazon. Here is a link that I found To a little bit cheaper model.Thank you so much for watching.Cabela’s sells a little bit nicer one like the one I have.

Awesome product man, planning on having a cabin in the near future.. Great dog as well. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Stay safe Karl.
Thanks for watching ! I appreciate your comment and support
aybe they can switch them to lithium ion batteries.
Great video (better than others I’ve watched about this product), thanks!
Thanks for watching it is greatly appreciated!!
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this video. Please confirm brand and model number. Thank you. Greetings from Papua New Guinea.
Here is a link that I have to the product. Thank you so much for watching!!

Karl, about how much is it going to cost total for your cabin home with the plumbing and electric? thanks !
So far I am on track to have everything done for under $20,000 including the cabin, bath house, and garage. I am planning on having an update video on where our budget is after the bathhouse build in the spring.
@@karlsoffthegrid1378 awesome! thank you very much and I will be following your journey as I want to do the same in PA or N.Y.
Omg thank you for sharing, I never knew this existed either. Great video 🎯💯👍.
Thank you so much for watching! I have been using this heater for almost two years now and we absolutely love it.
If I had a print shop I would fix your shirt. The “can’do’er “ attitude one brings from a father land would show strength as it points to its head on its shoulders. Small change but big impact. I Love knowledge that helps save us from trouble. P.S. hopefully shipping won’t be an issue.
Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate your support
Can you leave the website to buy one of these? Would help a lot
Here is an ad that I saw on Amazon. I hope this helps. www.amazon.com/dp/B011TRLUS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_o5s4FbBV8FZDH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I was able to drive my own well for water. Here is a link to the video. Thanks for watching

This is awesome! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for your support! I hope this video helps you out.
Loved it and the model.
Thank you, that model is a sweetheart,She is a great companion. If I could just get her from sitting on my feet all the time, she would be perfect. 😂
Thank you for making this vid!
Thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback. Have an awesome week
Thanks for watching, thanks for the info!
hi, can we use biogas with this heater??/ what about isues with hardwater
Great questions! This particular water heater works off of propane only. I have been using it for two years now and it has worked flawlessly. Keep in mind we are not at the cabin full-time yet. We do have very hard water but we haven’t had any issues yet. There are several different manufacturers on the market nowadays, we just chose this one because it met our needs. Good luck in your search, thank you so much for watching
Thanks been looking for a hot water heater.
I’ve been using it for two years now and it still has been working great. There are plenty out there, do your homework first it will definitely pay off. Thank you for watching
Thanks, great information.
Thanks for watching, it’s greatly appreciated!!
I love the set up you have. Especially that Honda 2000 generator I have the same one and they are definitely a heaven sent. Thanks for sharing
Sounds like we are brothers. All the same interests. Love the woods.
can you plumb this into a camper
This unit is not really designed to be a permanent fixture. However, they do make instantaneous water heaters designed for campers etc...
The reason we like this unit is because if we want to use it while camping, we can take it outside and shower without steaming up the camper. If it’s too cold outside we simply bring it in and set it on the shelf while using it. They do have a warning not to use it inside in case if it malfunctions it could create carbon monoxide. We have extra detectors in our cabin and we have never had any problems with it being inside
Love this video.
Thanks for watching!!
You me mentioned Mr. Heater... is that the best?
It’s worked flawlessly for me. I bought it because it comes from a great company that stands behind their product. If you end up purchasing one just make sure you charge the battery every three months. The only bad thing I have heard about any instantaneous water heater is that the batteries die if you don’t maintain them.
Great awesome channel very imformative
It’s wonderful to have you with the channel, thank you for your comment
Great to know. Probably can use it when we boon dock
Run Away RV Nesters There’s several different companies that make these. I love this one, the hot showers are incredible, low cost, And you can shower just about anywhere. I wish I would’ve known about this year’s ago. Thanks for your comment
Great video! I'm going on amazon right now!
Glad to help
Just ordered one! Glad I found your channel!
David Powell you’re going to love it. The main thing is remember to charge your battery every other month whether it needs it or not. That’s the only thing I heard of anyone having problems with
Needed that information
Thanks Don I hope this helps you out a little bit. I’ve been using the shower for almost a year now and it works awesome. Have a great week
TOTALLY COOL DOG!
Can you hook it up to a water source directly.
Not this particular model, However, I believe they make a model that does. You may want to search “Mr. heater tankless water heaters“. Either way they are awesome for camping or living off the grid
Hey Karl. You a beer man? I make my own Bottle openers . Would like to send you one. You have PO Box? Not sure if there a way to message you privately. I know myself and my others are great full for all the content you provide us
Thank you so much for watching it’s great to hear feedback like this. If you ever need to get hold of me for any questions my email is in the channel description . I believe it is Karlsoffthegrid@gmail.com
Good luck
New sub....great channel...👍👍👍
It’s awesome to have you with the channel thank you so much for subscribing !!
That's the same water heater I use in my Shack
We love that little heater It’s really worked well for us. Hopefully you have had the same experience. Thanks for watching !!
❤👍
Thank you 🙏
Are you really German, where did you come from and where do you live right now?
I really like your videos. I'm a hunter as well and it is always interesting getting inspired by new ideas and new products. I wish we had such nice cabins and garages in Germany as well !
Stay healthy and viele Grüße aus Deutschland und Waidmannsheil!
Karin Lotz My Family is from Hanover. We moved to Wisconsin and I have lived here most my life. Thank you for your support
A swimmin pool.
I wish! Only swimming pool don’t work so great up here in the north during the winter. Thanks for watching
Convert it to Solar Power.
A great idea. It doesn’t need much power I very seldom have to charge the battery. It probably wouldn’t be too hard. Thanks for watching
@@karlsoffthegrid1378 Just splice it in to the system you already have. No Muss No Fuss.
No way of regulating the flow at the nozzle end? Deal breaker.
No, there really isn’t a way to regulate the water flow at the end of the nozzle without swapping the showerhead.
Great model! I love it when she rolled over to get her belly washed!! Very interesting piece of equipment never saw anything like it!!!
