Early Archie Knuckles was insane power-wise. Dude was rewriting reality / history using Chaos Control and even came back from the dead (as in, like, the literal afterlife) once. The main reason for this is of course because Knuckles was Ken Penders' (then-at-the-time head writer of the Archie Sonic comics) favorite character. Ken Penders himself is... a controversial figure when it comes to the history of Sonic, to say the least, but that subject is too much for me to feel like diving into right now (some of that stuff will seriously gross you out). I will say though, for all his faults and questionable decisions (both inside and outside the comics), to his credit I did generally appreciate Penders' characterization of Knuckles; He was hot headed and got into unnecessary fights a lot, as you'd expect from 'ol Knucklehead, but he was still serious and had his moments of intelligence and level-headedness (similar to how Knuckles was in Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 / Sonic X, but Penders was ahead of the curve on that one). Very Piccolo-like in that regard, actually. I haven't seen Sonic Movie 2 yet but I hear that too has a more competent, less-dumbed down Knuckles, so I'm really looking forward to getting to see that.
This was a really interesting watch, the ending of Mania Adventures with Knux punching Eggman and Metal out the way was so freaking hilarious cause of that face, now that Joni mentioned that...now i can't unsee Knuckles as Piccolo god dang but still he can hold his own against many things when comes his moment to shine sometimes, and man i'm so hyped for the movie.
I actually never noticed the Piccolo connection before. That's pretty cool...and sad considering where they both end up. Though, Knuckles has it far worse. He wasn't just shafted, but he was also completely flanderized into a big, dumb, meathead. Really, pretty much every Sonic character has been more or less ruined in some way. For instance, yeah Shadow's the Vegeta of the series, but he was still very much his own character and was an actually complicated character with a very nice arc. Modern Shadow is just a bad Vegeta knock-off. If you wanna hear more about it all, there're plenty of Sonictubers who've talked at length about the "Meta-Era" and its writing and treatment of characters in relation to the older games and even just own their own.

I think people forget about Rivals Knuckles feats. He clashed with Shadow and Shadow was going to "knock him out" to stop him yet Knuckles was completely fine afterwards continued his story. He also defeated ifrit while fighting off a mind controlled Rouge while holding back. Rouge is insanely strong in her lower legs and he pretty much tanked it. And his hammer punch attack was broken in that game. Ifrit is capable of destroying worlds.
I like how you pointed out Knuckles as being like a Piccolo. I've always kinda felt that way. It's probably why he's one of my favorite Sonic characters (tied with Shadow). And same as with Piccolo, I wish he would get more shine. I hope he's still just as relevant in Sonic 3...

Knuckles is pretty strong but the main reason why he was able to knock out Sonic out of SS was his relationship between the Master Emerald and the Chasos Emerald. Being the guardian of the Master E. He has shown to be able to in tune with "Chaos" which is the governing body of energy that SS uses. Sonic at the time of Sonic 3 only used this form twice as of the games, so he was relatively new to the form. Later in the IDW comics and Archie Comics Sonic shows way more control over the SS and well Chaos energy in general. So when they had their rematch knuckles was on the back foot. By no means is Knuckles a slouch but today's standard he's top 3 strongest in the game. Top 5 in the extended universe.

I don't know about the comics, but in the games, Knuckles never used chaos control. The only ones in the games who used chaos control are Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Metal Overlord, and Black Doom.
Here's one feat. Metal Overlord casually picks up and throws Eggman's ships in the boss fight and Knuckles can punch through them like nothing. Now that I think about it, the games don't really show a whole lot of strength feats. They do, however, have a ton of speed feats (obviously) and durability feats. For example, Super Sonic and Shadow should have at least around planet level durability, so if Knuckles can stand up to them, then that'd make him around that level in strength.
Super Sonic and Super Shadow have multiversal level durability thanks to Solaris having the destructive power to wipe out the multiverse. Sonic and Shadow have been beyond planet level since the games have gone past SA2.

I don't know who your expert is but the facts presented in this video aren't exactly accurate. Sonic powerscaling is much like Dragon Ball scaling because Super Sonic in Sonic 2 is weaker than Super Sonic in Sonic 3 just due to time and Sonic growing stronger naturally. We know this because Sonic scales within his own games to being able to take on bosses he needed Super previously but nowadays only needs his base abilities such as Perfect Chaos in Generations. We also have Infinite scaling and statements where he mentions Sonic somehow had gotten stronger from their previous fight where Infinite stomped Sonic and Sonic replies saying that he grows in power every second thus meaning the more Sonic runs, the stronger and faster he gets. Knuckles no longer has Super/Hyper forms in canon as that seems to be relegated to the trio of hedgehogs for now meaning Knuckles is going to scale below Sonic due to a lack of Super form. Knuckles did fight Super Mecha Sonic but could not harm Mecha Sonic while it was transformed and simply had to avoid his attacks until he depowered meaning he couldn't out punch a stronger Super form.

I vibe with the vid, however i feel theres some things and feats that werent spoken on. In the games, forces or idw(comics) has him taking on zavoc and doing pretty good. Zavok being the same character sonic struggled to fight(but mopped up in forces). In the tv show, sonic X, knuckles goes to the moon, jumps with no space suit, and smashes a part of the moon that was controlled by eggman. He knocked away shadow when he was in full spin dash, depsite knuckles being hurt from previous fights. He survived a full speed sonic running over him with a treadmill, was tearing up the forest trying to punch sonic(its the "why wont u stand still and die" part from sonic 2s trailer) and lifting GIANT trees out of the ground, his climbing speed was able to keep up with sonic running up a mountain, and he was able to damage a Meterex guy by punching him(this guy took a laser to the chest too) In the archie comics, he was able to dodge Protoman(from megaman) attacks, protomans blasts are from a nuclear core, and so are his buster shots. Knuckles hit him so hard his fist was set on fire. Theres also forms like Chaos knuckles, who i heard was multiversal or all powerful. And Ener Knuckles(enerjak using knuckles as his host) whose power was stated only limited by his imagination. I also think knuckles fought enerjak b4 and didnt do too badly. Which puts knuckles at uni-multiversal levels of power. I gotta get back into them comics, cuz while knuckles doesnt have much now a days, with him getting his own series, they may start giving the red ruffian more shine. But hey, they may not, this is all "unknown from m.e"🤷🏾♂️👍🏾

Hes able to severly hurt Sonic.EXE for a good 10 seconds. on other variations and in the Disaster game 3-5 seconds. Hes also knocked off super sonic and took the emeralds for himself. His strength can rival godlike entities.
Knuckles has always been my favorite and I haven't seen the new movie yet but I was 100% on board when I saw the trailers and it looks like they were putting respect on my boy's name
I always see people conclude Knuckles knocked the super outta Sonic. However, Sonic could have just ran out of rings at the perfect moment in Sonic 3 to which Knuckles may have know about or been able to read. Furthermore Knuckles is knowledgeable about the emeralds so he is uniquely qualified to fight emerald powered Super opponents which is one reason I really like his character. That thumbs up at the end of his storyline after retrieving the Master Emerald is epitome of style.
Sonic went Super Sonic about 3-5 seconds before Knuckles hit him so there's no chance he ran out of Rings since going Super/Hyper gives a automatic 50 seconds worth of Rings but him being qualified about fighting Emerald empowered enemies makes a lot of sense for the reason you pointed out before and he probably has energy from the Master Emerald in his body due to being near it so much

Something I always like to say as to why Knuckles has a few advantages over Sonic. Sonic's whole thing is based on speed. He's strong no doubt but when all you focus on is speed and reflexes and you go against a heavy hitter it's like the Flash trying to make effective hits on Colossus and when Knuckles can connect, he's always smacked Sonic away or even senseless. So I personally say that Knuckles has more physical, brute, and sheer power than Sonic on a borderline level, but of course with Sonic able to throw his whole body into it and use the Chaos emeralds and rings more effectively, Sonic's force is most likely greater by comparison. Just my opinion though
the whole thing with knuckles being able to punch super sonic isn't just knuckles being relative to super sonic in strength its because he caught him off guard like how goku almost died to a little laser in dbs because he was off guard remember the intro to sonic 3&k takes place right after sonic 2 so this is the first time sonic has ever gone super canonically and we know by shadow in sa2 that there there are different levels of control when it comes to the super transformation that's why when shadow went super for the first time he couldn't control the form like sonic could, knuckles is strong he was said to be as strong as sonic is fast but he is nowhere near super sonic who we know has access to infinite power

Sonic 2 was amazing. Watched last night at our drive in theater. Just wonderful.
I’m a simple man, I love knuckles, I saw him on this video, and I clicked.
I vibe with the vid, however i feel theres some things and feats that werent spoken on.
In the games, forces or idw(comics) has him taking on zavoc and doing pretty good. Zavok being the same character sonic struggled to fight(but mopped up in forces).
In the tv show, sonic X, knuckles goes to the moon, jumps with no space suit, and smashes a part of the moon that was controlled by eggman. He knocked away shadow when he was in full spin dash, depsite knuckles being hurt from previous fights.
He survived a full speed sonic running over him with a treadmill, was tearing up the forest trying to punch sonic(its the "why wont u stand still and die" part from sonic 2s trailer) and lifting GIANT trees out of the ground, his climbing speed was able to keep up with sonic running up a mountain, and he was able to damage a Meterex guy by punching him(this guy took a laser to the chest too)
In the archie comics, he was able to dodge Protoman(from megaman) attacks, protomans blasts are from a nuclear core, and so are his buster shots. Knuckles hit him so hard his fist was set on fire.
Theres also forms like Chaos knuckles, who i heard was multiversal or all powerful. And Ener Knuckles(enerjak using knuckles as his host) whose power was stated only limited by his imagination.
I also think knuckles fought enerjak b4 and didnt do too badly. Which puts knuckles at uni-multiversal levels of power.
I gotta get back into them comics, cuz while knuckles doesnt have much now a days, with him getting his own series, they may start giving the red ruffian more shine. But hey, they may not, this is all "unknown from m.e"🤷🏾♂️👍🏾

Great analysis. I always though Knuckles was strong. He breaks the bigger walls that Sonic can't. Has anybody made a Hard or Very Hard Mode of Sonic 3 or Sonic 3 and Knuckles?

S3&k hyper knuckles has an add on ability to his glide called gliding earth quake that shakes the earth when he crashes into the wall
I'm pretty sure it was stated somewhere ik sonic heroes super knuckles has the power to punch hard and fast enough to create fire balls
He's also a master of chaos control and can use chaos energy to do things like chaos spears. And even cause shock waves by hitting the ground (sonic all stars racing)
He also has a green form called chaos knuckles that is explicitly stated that he has as much energy as a living chaos emerald which another funfact is equal to shadow who when he takes off his inhibitor rings can also unleash the power of a living chaos emerald
Last but not least with the help of super sonic and turbo tails "hyper" (super) knuckles helps defeat master mogul who is a multiversal being powered up by enerjak (if yk who enerjak is that says alot about the power of those 3 beating mogul the way he was)
He's also the only other person in the series with a hyper form unless u wanna count mania and sonic 3 tails as two different forms then he's one of 3

Hes able to severly hurt Sonic.EXE for a good 10 seconds. on other variations and in the Disaster game 3-5 seconds. Hes also knocked off super sonic and took the emeralds for himself. His strength can rival godlike entities.

Knuckles has always been my favorite and I haven't seen the new movie yet but I was 100% on board when I saw the trailers and it looks like they were putting respect on my boy's name
If a standalone Knuckles game, with an edgy 90s/early 2000s feel, came out; I would so buy it.
I always wished that my boy knuckles would get his own game, but instead he’s getting his own show.

How strong is Knuckles? Let's put it this way: you don't fuckle with the Knuckle.
I always see people conclude Knuckles knocked the super outta Sonic. However, Sonic could have just ran out of rings at the perfect moment in Sonic 3 to which Knuckles may have know about or been able to read. Furthermore Knuckles is knowledgeable about the emeralds so he is uniquely qualified to fight emerald powered Super opponents which is one reason I really like his character. That thumbs up at the end of his storyline after retrieving the Master Emerald is epitome of style.
Sonic went Super Sonic about 3-5 seconds before Knuckles hit him so there's no chance he ran out of Rings since going Super/Hyper gives a automatic 50 seconds worth of Rings but him being qualified about fighting Emerald empowered enemies makes a lot of sense for the reason you pointed out before and he probably has energy from the Master Emerald in his body due to being near it so much
@@MDKGunner From a gameplay perspective you have a point. I never saw where Sonic literally had to have 50 Rings though to be Super Sonic. But I suppose Ring consumption is a gameplay perspective as well.
@@radretro3777 The Ring consumption is mentioned in SA2 so it might be considered canon i will say in regards to actually transforming they don't actually NEED to collect 50 rings as they can transform and have 50 rings right away examples being Sonic 3&Knuckles, Sonic Mania along with every game that has the Super Form for the final battle from SA1 onwards

Something I always like to say as to why Knuckles has a few advantages over Sonic. Sonic's whole thing is based on speed. He's strong no doubt but when all you focus on is speed and reflexes and you go against a heavy hitter it's like the Flash trying to make effective hits on Colossus and when Knuckles can connect, he's always smacked Sonic away or even senseless. So I personally say that Knuckles has more physical, brute, and sheer power than Sonic on a borderline level, but of course with Sonic able to throw his whole body into it and use the Chaos emeralds and rings more effectively, Sonic's force is most likely greater by comparison. Just my opinion though

the whole thing with knuckles being able to punch super sonic isn't just knuckles being relative to super sonic in strength its because he caught him off guard like how goku almost died to a little laser in dbs because he was off guard remember the intro to sonic 3&k takes place right after sonic 2 so this is the first time sonic has ever gone super canonically and we know by shadow in sa2 that there there are different levels of control when it comes to the super transformation that's why when shadow went super for the first time he couldn't control the form like sonic could, knuckles is strong he was said to be as strong as sonic is fast but he is nowhere near super sonic who we know has access to infinite power
