I agree there's no season 3 desired nor required. This was a sublime conclusion for the Loki character and Tom Hiddleston portrayed the character's pathos to perfection. His training and extensive experience as a Shakespearean actor really shone through.
@@Sealab2021dotorg -- Tom's imbued Loki with such charisma and complexity that I confess I'll miss his Loki if he never returns in another variant form. I didn't see any commentator saying what I think is a big message in this finale: Loki Lost. He lost to win. His defeat meant the victory of everybody else. It is a very well balanced equation for determinism and free will. He lost as he always would, but he managed to make that a sure satisfactory positive result for everybody else.
It all comes down to Mobius's words in season 1's first episode. That Loki is destined to lose so that others can achieve the best version of themselves. Mobius dropping words of wisdom in each episode 1 of each season (in season 2, "I need a Loki who remains").
this is the level of quality the MCU needs in its storytelling, I thought this finale cemented these two seasons of Loki as the single best MCU Disney+ show, I absolutely loved it

I watched a reaction video of Episode 5 immediately after watching the finale, and there as a HUGE gut-punch. In Ep5, when Loki's trying trying to convince Sylvie to help, and she keeps asking what he wants. She calls BS when he says things like saving people and protecting the timeline. Finally, with tears in his eyes, Loki says "I want my friends back. I don't want to be alone." ....and then the ending happens.
The dichotomy of how Loki's story has played throughout the entire MCU since he was first introduced all came to play here. The man always thought his purpose was to rule and seek the throne. I also love how in this same finale he says that he doesn't seek the throne but yet in the end, when he reveals himself as his god form, he sits down on that throne and fulfils his destiny I guess if you want to call it that. Bravo and hats off to all who made this wonderful series. Tom Hiddleston is incredible and honestly should probably be nominated for his performance...🙏
@@Reddervetter right, what he envisioned was not what happened originally, but what he physically grew to find out in time was that he'd be taking the throne for a different and more glorious purpose
I mentioned this in a different post, but the writing and conclusion here are phenomenal. Loki essentially sacrificed himself for his friends. He has taken his throne and achieved his glorious purpose. He's also paying for his previous crimes, murders, etc. He didn't conveniently get away with all his mischief prior to this show. He accepted it. And because he now realizes the value of all those lives he previously wanted to subjugate, he willingly accepts his responsibility, his misdeeds, and is both heroic and tragic all at once. To me, Loki is to the MCU as Andor is to Star Wars. I hope there's some recognition for what this team accomplished.
I'm blown away. This was the single BEST show on Disney+ that I also enjoyed tremendously. Easily one of the best things to come out of the MCU. Tom Hiddleston and Ke Huy Quan both deserve awards recognition for their work. Not necessarily a win, but definitely a nomination.
Before this season dropped, I was worried that Quan’s talents would be wasted in a largely side role, but he gave so much life and pathos to OB, and made the character feel so lived-in. Easily one of my favorite characters from this recent slate of Marvel projects.
I think this is best project they've made for like the past 2 years. I liked that Loki transformed the loom into a tree. The Loom condenses things neatly, the Tree lets things grow and it has actual branches. The comparison is well put. I understand most of your points Dan. But i have to disagree. I was surprised you didnt like it as much as most of us did. But perhaps its the difference of perspective. I think its much better than season 1 mainly because the Lamentis episode was filler but mostly slow and doesnt really added nothing. This season, everything they did was interesting to the point that i didnt think it was Marvel anymore.
Ik it's actually so obvious that a loom was never going to be an answer and that a tree was the perfect answer that yeah it makes me feel satisfied but then it's followed by a feeling of dumbness, like how could I have not predicted that was the end from the beginning of the season. Oh well lol
Loki season 2 was the best Marvel Disney+ finale by a mile! Not even close. Amazing visuals, storytelling, acting, etc. Also had the second best line of dialogue with “Purpose is more burden than glory” only second to “what is grief if not love persevering?” This is the best we’ve gotten from the MCU in a looooong time.
The last 2 episodes were wonderfully written. I totally agree with the pacing issue with the first 4. But this was such a satisfying "ending" to Loki/Tom Hiddleston's time with the MCU. I hope we get an interview with Tom H and Josh Horowitz, even just on Zoom, now that the SAF-Aftra strike is over. Because I want to hear him talk about this character. He loves Loki so much as much as us fans love him as Loki.
@@hkspoon123 😂😂 you can't call people who disagree with you a hater 😂😂😂 And no this show did not save the mcu, even as this show is airing, people are talking about the disappointment of marvels
After the unmitigated disaster that was Secret Invasion, I was ready to completely write off the MCU. But Loki (especially those incredible last two episodes) restored my hope for the MCU's future.
I actually saw the ending differently, not as Loki necessarily being happy, but Loki realizing that being the god he envisioned was less gold and more coal. In the end he still lost. He now wears the heaviest crown, forever cursed to sit upon the throne only able to observe passively, the genuine family and friends he made along the way. His ending is still a tragedy, but it’s one in which he’s able to decide his fate, which is both selfish and selfless. I also enjoy how singularly focused Silvi remained, like an unchanging image of himself across all the multiverses. With him on the throne it also means that Kang’s variants are going to cause havoc, but it also means that each branch finally has a semblance of free will. It also makes me wonder if he who remains always wanted Loki there and understood that he was the missing piece in the equation that allowed him to be free of his eternal loneliness. One silverlining for Loki, is that Asgardians only become more powerful with time. I could foresee Loki, over enough time (it is infinite), being able to use Astro projections of himself to ‘interact’ with the timeline’s. Which would help in staving off the absolute insanity of being alone outside of time for all eternity. At least until he can find a successor (in an infinite loop of succession)
True. He finally realized that having a throne he so craved before was filled with loneliness but now he had to for the sake of the timeline. The season finale was such a story that came full circle. It's long term message being: Be careful what you wish for.
I wasn't much a fan of most of season 2 but I did like Loki's redemption / climax in the last episode. That walk across the bridge and flipping the temporal loom to a mythic tree of life was amazing cinematically.
Yeah me too. Much of the season wasn't all that for me but I like how it ended. I do have a question though? So Loki is basically a timeline battery now? Why is that a thing he can do?
Funny, I liked almost everything but that part. I liked all the more grounded takes on the character when he was just a regular employee without powers at the TVA. Especially in seaason one where he as a narc would do the narc thing and kiss his variant (himself essentially). I like those themes and not the magic ones because I have trouble relating to god like beings.
Your comment in season 1&2 being continuous as 1 season is so spot on. The first episode of Loki S1 was titled Glorious Purpose and the last episode of S2 was also titled Glorious Purpose. I think Loki needs to be wrapped at this point, it’s a great 2 season binge combo that gets the job done for the character. Love Loki - fav Marvel series.
I was mindblown by your observation. What a phenomenal way to bring the character back around. S1's Glorious Purpose was entirely satirical. Idiotic even, in the context of just how small Loki was as an individual (he was plucked fresh from the events of NY so he was peak selfish imp). But the time S2's Glorious Purpose comes around, it has been entirely flipped, and Loki demonstrates how he has absolutely earned it. There truly was none other who could have done it. What fxcking amazing storytelling! And thank you for pointing it out!
In the end the series feels fresh and unique because it's letting itself to lean more closer to the sci fi stuff rather than the super hero stuff, and it's also has a great combination of drama and comedy in it
I don’t think that it’s controversial at all, phenomenal series finale. A perfect ending to the story of Loki. I’m sure he will pop up again, but there is no need for a season three, and I’m glad the ride is confirmed that this is a complete story.
I heard he will cameo in Deadpool 3 and I think thats fine. His arc is done, he is now just background for other people's stories. I would love someone to save him someday and get a brief glimpse of Loki relaxing on the beach with Mobius.
Loki season 1 and 2 have easily been my favorite thing Marvel has done since Endgame. I don't know if that is controversial or not, I don't really care. Lol If this is it for Loki, it was a perfect send off. I kinda think we will see him again sooner rather than later though. I hope Hiddleston gets some award consideration, what a performance! The whole cast was excellent
@@dannysmi7162 No Way Home is a close second. Really liked GOTG3, but I am not as big of fan of the series as most it seems. I actually thought 2 was very subpar. 3 was much better though. 1 is a great movie, but wouldn't crack my top ten Marvel movies. So yeah.
Loki becoming the God of Stories was extremely fulfilling for his arc and unexpected going into this season. They have next leveled his power within the MCU (potentially Scarlet Witch level) depending on how far down the GoS power set they go. No need for a season 3 and sets Loki up for a cinematic return on a new scale. Hopefully we see more legit Loki story arcs.
I like how a switch is flicked with He Who Remains, once he realises that Loki is more on a level with him. He loses the overdramatic, theatrical delivery, and talks much more normally. This shows that his over-the-top delivery in the S1 finale was all part of the show, rehearsed (he'd probably done it before, or at least had practiced for the moment)
I also felt like the first few episodes lacked focus. They didn’t really seem to be doing anything. From E4 onwards, however, the show really picked up the pace and delivered the best conclusion to a character’s arc in the MCU since Tony in Endgame.
one thing that I really loved about this show is that it didn't forgot that loki was the lead, it didn't only focused on the multiverse and actually gave a great conclusion to one of the best mcu characters, marvel may be up and down lately, but when they good (nwh, gotg 3, loki moonknight) they really remind you how awesome it can be
The whole "use a time loop to get smarter" was actually already used in the best (original?) time loop movie, Groundhog day. It was also used in Palm Springs. Heck, it was use in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow. It's pretty much a given in any time loop movie. Edit: I also want to add; Bangs did not work for Sylvie. We also never found out what her nexus event was.
I thought the finale was going to pull a Dr Strange vs Dormammu ending so seeing Loki's final choice was a pleasant, bittersweet surprise. S02 was a bit uneven but it definitely stuck the ending.
Oh No! A scary shark! Lol. Seriously, this is a very smart take and review, especially combining the Seasons to explore how Loki himself matured and developed. I agree, the best part, which I wasn't sure they would pull off, was getting to Loki's place in the universe, which is basically having the Asgard /Norse Tree of Knowledge, Yggdrasil become the actual form of the Timelines. Like it was meant to be, with a surprising benefactor, Loki creating it, like Odin would want.
I've never been the biggest fan of either season of Loki, but the end brought it all together in a realy great way. I agree that this is one they just need to let lie and people appreciate.
Loki's arc through this series was the best Doctor Who writing stuff that I've seen in a long time. I agree that they should leave it as it lies. There's a litany of reasons behind the scenes why they should just be happy with a great overall production. And then, have Hiddleston cameo every now and again because, well, he's dreamy.
3:25 the same idea was also used in Palm Springs! The lead spends decades Zooming with different quantum physics professors to figure out how to undo the time loop she's stuck in. I think it's just a common time travel trope
Just a reminder that "this Loki" was only a variant, of the one from the previous Marvel movies, and Loki variants are still out there. That's not to diminish him in any way, I think this version is fantastic and very well handled, it's just to say that it would be possible for Loki to continue to interact with the MCU if they wanted to, without truly undoing any of this, in that a further Hiddleston Loki variant could be called into action somehow, and perhaps even serve as a partial "avatar" to the God of Stories (but ideally not just a full puppet).
Great review. I agree with the no need for season 3 of Loki. Even though I love the character and the comics, I think they reached a satisfying end point for the character. But a cameo the next Thor movie would soothe the “the sun will shine on us again” bittersweet ending. But I’m sappy that way 😢
Liked the whole season to be honest. I just like hanging in the tva with its cool aesthetic, fun contraptions and the cinematography, set design and special effects were on point. I thought it was just really fun and, dare I say it, actually cool. Owen wilson is a really fun actor as well.
I could not possibly agree more. This is exactly how I felt about the show. I found season two uneven. I saved ep5 to watch this morning with ep 6 and it was perfect. I think you could easily excise 2 episodes from this season, slap it together with season one and get a very satisfying, ten episode, show. When you consider this Loki is from the first Avengers movie, who stood in a crowd and told them that the "unspoken truth of humanity is that you crave subjugation," it's quite a remarkable journey and arc for him. Loki started in a place, essentially in agreement with HWR, that people can't handle, or really want, free will and ended up destroying the "sacred timeline," sacrificing himself for his friends and the multiverse, to allow everyone free will. 💚💚💚
First off, congratulations to you and Mara. May you have many, many more happy years, now as husband and wife. Second, Marvel stuck the landing here. This was a satisfying ending, albeit a bittersweet one. Loki gets what he always wanted, but certainly not how he initially imagined. Still, the story arc was always moving him from selfish to selfless, and I was touched by the notion that he had found love and friendship, and to save them, he essentially had to sacrifice himself. Becoming the god of all times will be, I'm sure, not the happy ending people wanted, but I agree with you - this is really the most, if not only, logical conclusion to his arc. Anything else would have seemed like painting a smile on a tragedy, and Loki is meant to be tragic. This also avoids what I'll call the Anakin Skywalker Conundrum. So a major problem people find with Star Wars is that just because Darth Vader rejects and "kills" the Emperor, he should ascend to the forgiven Jedi pantheon of Force ghosts. One good deed for all of his murdering. We all love Return of the Jedi, but still, it feels like a cheat. For Loki, this is choice and destiny, yes. It's also his punishment. If we start with The Avengers and move through the storyline, his is one of the most fully realized. And Tom Hiddleston did a terrific job with it. The very funny first few episodes, exhibiting twisted Douglas Adams gymnastics, helped make the conclusion more meaningful without being too tone-shifted. A little bit, but not too drastic to be jarring. So we have this problem. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. I'll call it a win even though it too was an emotional gut punch, especially for animal lovers. Loki Season Two is, for me, a great success in storytelling. But now we have all the world(s)building from these two stories that are undermined by the rest of the present MCU, and may well be undone by knee-jerk efforts to right the ship overall. It's a shame that these projects must be tied arm and ankle to all the other stuff, is all I am saying.
I love how loki finally understood what it means to be a king and what burden actually is. Thor became a true hero when he understood what it meant to truly protect people. Loki became a hero when he understood what sacrifice meant and also what free will actually looks like.
If you want a good time loop episode, watch Agent's of Shield season 7's "As I have always been". The single best episode of any Marvel tv show and a real tearjerker.
To your point about reshooting scenes with He Who Remains -- nothing in season 2 was reshot. Everything was script to screen, according to the producer.
What a satisfying ending, absolutely fantastic. Loki has always been my favourite character and I really enjoyed what they did with his story. They combined mythology (and I assume comic lore) really well.
Can't believe Dan didn't talk about my 2 favorite Indie directors, Benson and Moorehead. Their journey over the past decade has been incredible, from making mind bending sci fi movies on shoestring budgets to being mainstream, and they're just getting started.
Man I LOVED this second season....I genuinely think this whole show is one of the best sci-fi stories ever told. Also its hilarious comparing Loki's journey to Thor's. Thor needs some serious redemption, Loki has really grown and changed and learned and Thor has regressed massively. Do agree that Slyvie was a bit sidelined though unfortunately.
@@josephblasko26 I hate time travel stories. If its mentioned, I automatically say no. I've seen enough to be unimpressed by their half ass philosophies and poor physics acting as excuses for messy plots. I'm a plot person foremost. But Loki sold me.
My only criticism of season 2 is that they wrote only two episodes worth of plot, then they just streeeeetch the beginning and middle with a satisfying ending but maybe not worth the wait depending of who you ask, this could have been a concise only season but having two seasons with a lot of pointless B plots and filler might hurt rewatch marathon
No chance this is the end of Hiddleston's Loki. He may go away for a while, but there's no way he won't be back down the road to reunite with Sylvie or Mobius or Thor or all of them somehow, even briefly.
Regarding Loki learning quantum physics, I also thought of the episode of Doctor Who where he had to slowly chip away at the crystal wall to escape the confession dial. A billion years, a few strikes before the Doctor was killed only to respawn again and again. Probably a lot of Doctor Who Easter eggs considering the time travel aspect.
I LOVE how this whole time Loki just knew he was burdened with “glorious purpose” just to find out his really is, but in a different way than ruling Earth or Asgard. Plus it’s a cool way to explain how he’s always seemingly everywhere and nearly impossible to completely kill😆😆At least Marvel has ONE recent win😂
I hate that he ended up alone tied to a throne forever, but I somewhat feel satisfied. It was a really well fleshed out character from villain to unsung hero. It makes sense.
I was pleasantly surprised by Loki. I know Season One was divisive, but after watching Season two, I think Loki is one of the MCU’s most successful projects post-endgame. Yes, the logic and pacing are lacking a little bit, but it’s clear that the show really cared about its characters and artistic vision. For once, it’s not about huge action set pieces or superhero team ups. It’s Loki trying to solve this puzzle and growing from desiring a tyrant’s throne to desiring love and friendship, and ultimately choosing a throne of sorts in order to serve others. His final garb looks less regal and more monastic. Mobius and the rest of the TVA slowly understand the sinister purpose they have been serving. Renslayer becomes underhanded and sneaky while Miss Minutes evolves to be downright creepy. The show has plot conveniences but still ends up very character-driven-all of it while maintaining a very distinctive visual and musical style that is incredibly cohesive. This show passes the vibe check.
I completely agree with Dan regarding Loki's arc and how much his story needs to end (though he's absolutely my favorite). But hasn't the MCU already announced the two brothers reuniting in a future project?
Dan, Glad to see you liked it better as a whole. I loved it. I do not want this to be the end of Loki. It may be but it’s too tragic. I don’t want him to be alone. I want him to be able to at least spectral project himself out to talk to people. And I want Thor to know what he’s done.
I agree that season two was more of a mixed bag but overall it was such a good arc for Loki. I wish it had hit a lil harder. But it was still so cool seeing him become more of the god of time especially since the timelines turning into a tree felt like a reference to Norse mythology with the Tree of Yggdrasil
about learning stuff on time loops... that does happen as well on groundhog day, when the protagonist learns how to play piano over all the loops hehe.
This finale episode was the best episode across both seasons. Season 2 was more uneven because, for a while, Loki was just another character in an ensemble, but the show regained its focus on him in the last 2 episodes. Loki and Hawkeye tie for me as the two best MCU series on Disney+.
I enjoyed this finale episode more than the other loki episodes. Though the time loop concept to learn physics reminded me of an old Stargate Sg1 episode, Window of Opportunity, where two characters are stuck looping and others try to teach them the ancient language they need to decipher the machine that caused it. 😂 good times.
I actually didn't mind the writers not have a lot for Sylvie this season. Both seasons of Loki dealt with what Loki wanted: but it was different Lokis. The first, clearly Sylvie wanted to kill the TVA. She lost her world, family, life and rightfully so seeks some closure. She kills HWR and now in Season 2; she's got what she wants. She has a life, simple and mortal it may be, but it's hers. Season 2 of Loki merely pays off our Loki's original desires from Season 1. "I deserve my throne", he thinks he does but he doesn't have the wisdom of Odin nor the humility of Thor yet. As HWR and Mobius commented as well, folks who make the big calls, handle the big burdens, those are the people with power, the big chairs. This Season's ending merely gave Loki the sense of growth his adoptive father and brother already had but with his own twist. He now has his power, his throne, and his purpose; but also the burdens. He can handle it now compared to his more petulant beginnings because he's experienced more.
loki presumably still has the power to project his image across a large distance. now he has the capability to project his image across time. he could show up literally anywhere at any time
I came to love Lokis character, esp in Ragnarok - how purpose can find even the ones like him. I agree, narratively it is a very satisfying ending for his arc. I had problem with the show, sometimes I found it a little underwhelming, but there was a kind of love for all characters that we rarely see nowadays in movies. People acting sometimes bravely, sometimes out of fear or anger, but humanly, that made sense.
Dan, you also have a third option of weather or not Marvel continues with Kang or not. You can movie that to a season or multiple seasons of the Loki Tv Show. This way you can focus shift on another big bad in the movies, and just use Kang variants for the TV shows.
Not to umm...actually you but the concept of using a time loop to learn about a subject from the people who know more than you was used in 'Stargate SG-1' when Jack and Teal'c needed to decipher a machine that was forcing them to relive the same day over and over in the episode 'Window of Opportunity'. Which was really just an idea taken from the movie that all time loop ideas spin off from, 'Groundhog Day'.
Yes! I commented the same thing above before reading more of these comments, but so glad someone else remembers SG1! 😆 Window of Opportunity was such a fun episode.
Which was done in the TNG episode Cause and Effect before that. I wasn’t saying that Loki or Happy Death Day 2 U invented the idea. I was noting the similarity between using the time loop as a way to specifically solve time travel by becoming an expert on physics.
i enjoyed all of season 3 and the finale was perfect and you just couldnt see the end come. The last 10 minutes or so is probably some of the best MCU stuuf captured. Tom Hiddlestone nailed this.
I love Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U. Nice shout out, Dan. I really enjoyed Season 2 of Loki. It definitely seemed like the end of the Loki series. I wouldn't even know where they could go from this point. It's not like they would spend a season watching Loki sitting on the throne.
Loki stands as peak Marvel after S2. It nailed the complexity of Loki as a character and the evolution of his motivations, getting what he always wanted but not for himself as if he had finally earned it. Plus his becoming this multiversal version of the World Tree sees him sitting atop the pantheon of Gods. Thor and Odin would rule over and protect the World Tree, but Loki literally IS the tree which connects and holds the multiverse together.
I dont want a Loki season 3... but i wouldnt mind a TVA show. This was an amazing end to the show. I dont know what marvel can do legally with Majors but I would not be opposed to a recast of Kang. Let me say one of the best visuals Marvel has done in years was zooming out where Loki is sitting and turning the screen to reveal Yggdrasil the tree of life, just amazing.
Going further back the same you have to learn something you don't know in a time loop was used by the Syfy show Stargate SG-1 way back in the early 2000's. That show ran for 10 seasons and had 2 made for tv movies and noone remembers it.
It’s been used way further back than that, including one of my favorite TNG episodes. My point was that Happy Death Day 2 U used the concept in a similar science-based fashion.
I think that Loki could make an image of himself and visit his friends and visit the timelines. Theoretically, but probably won’t happen on tv or movies. Loki said it himself “I think we’re more powerful than we think we are”. So he could d anything.
I like how it connects to several lines with Loki. "Exists so others can grow to be their best selves," "Lokis survive." I get the sense that Hiddleston's love of mythology/classics paired well with Waldron's quirky scifi style to get us Loki God of Stories whose story involves being repeatedly put through time loops. If Loki comes back; it will be to meet with Thor "the sun will shine on us again"
I agree there's no season 3 desired nor required. This was a sublime conclusion for the Loki character and Tom Hiddleston portrayed the character's pathos to perfection. His training and extensive experience as a Shakespearean actor really shone through.

And it's a throne that Odin, Thor and all of Asgard know nothing about. He had long let go of that need to be recognised by them.
@@greasybumpkin1661 that's growth
I think the tree was designed to appear like Yggdrasil, the Norse tree of life which represents the universe in Norse mythology
What happened in the first 4 episodes that needed to be told
We could have had the last 2 episodes added to the end of season one and missed Nothing
Loki S2 is the most beautiful MCU project. Amazing art direction. Every scene’s a painting
I liked season 1 better
God it’s so beautiful. I love the pie set so much.
@@kdizzle901get better taste then
The last 2 episodes were wonderfully written.
Loki didn't just save the multiverse but saved the MCU. By far probably the best thing after Endgame.
he did not save the MCU i hate when people make statements like this.
It didnt save the MCU, it just confirmed that Loki is one of the greatest MCU characters

And no this show did not save the mcu, even as this show is airing, people are talking about the disappointment of marvels
After the unmitigated disaster that was Secret Invasion, I was ready to completely write off the MCU. But Loki (especially those incredible last two episodes) restored my hope for the MCU's future.
God Secret Invasion was such a disappointment. Loki was amazing
I’m glad that we get an MCU project that has an actual ending honestly might be a great jumping off point
Watching Loki’s finale and then going to the theater to watch The Marvels was definitely a roller coaster of emotions
Ok Dan, I’m sold. I wasn't planning to watch the series but now I will. Thank you for this video!
Loki's whole arc throughout the MCU truly incredible!!! This is easily my favorite Marvel show now sorry Ms. Marvel.
Loved this season and this was a satisfying finale. Tom deserves a Emmy Nomination.
That does seem controversial since most people seemed to prefer No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy 3
@@dannysmi7162 No Way Home is a close second. Really liked GOTG3, but I am not as big of fan of the series as most it seems. I actually thought 2 was very subpar. 3 was much better though. 1 is a great movie, but wouldn't crack my top ten Marvel movies. So yeah.
@@mattmccomas1 GOTG 3 gets too much praise, its a great movie but it has it's problems
@@GuestCool-kh5ys Agreed. I am just not much of a Chris Pratt fan. He has his moments, but I find pretty bland overall. My least fave Chris.
11:32 ALSO, he's a master of illusions, AND copies! He can enlist, or even help out if needed WITH different copies of himself o-0
Hopefully we see more legit Loki story arcs.
the shift from “burdened with glorious purpose” to “purposed with glorious burden” made for a really satisfying ending
It feels like a project that was full of passion to make it the best it can be.
What I appreciate most about this show is the fact that it didn't end with a massive cgi battle. Instead the climax was Loki taking his throne
I also felt like the first few episodes lacked focus. They didn’t really seem to be doing anything. From E4 onwards, however, the show really picked up the pace and delivered the best conclusion to a character’s arc in the MCU since Tony in Endgame.
one thing that I really loved about this show is that it didn't forgot that loki was the lead, it didn't only focused on the multiverse and actually gave a great conclusion to one of the best mcu characters, marvel may be up and down lately, but when they good (nwh, gotg 3, loki moonknight) they really remind you how awesome it can be
MoonKnight not really
@@GuestCool-kh5ys moon knight was good, it felt a bit off with the bit at the end
@@GuestCool-kh5ys Moon Knight was fantastic, their storytelling genre was just not your cup of tea
I absolutely LOVED Loki: the production/design, the character writing, and the cast!!
One word to describe Loki Season 2:
*"Glorious"*
I love how loki finally understood what it means to be a king and what burden actually is. Thor became a true hero when he understood what it meant to truly protect people. Loki became a hero when he understood what sacrifice meant and also what free will actually looks like.
If you want a good time loop episode, watch Agent's of Shield season 7's "As I have always been". The single best episode of any Marvel tv show and a real tearjerker.
Frigga must be proud, "My son graduated Physics PhD and now holding timelines together"
This was missing, I wish he time slipped into a time when he was with his family: Odin, Frigga, and Thor.
Dan, You're the most authentic and honest reviewer on YT. Thank goodness for all your hard work.
"There does have to be an end for everything, and for every character"
Uhhh... could someone let disney know that please?
To your point about reshooting scenes with He Who Remains -- nothing in season 2 was reshot. Everything was script to screen, according to the producer.
What a satisfying ending, absolutely fantastic. Loki has always been my favourite character and I really enjoyed what they did with his story. They combined mythology (and I assume comic lore) really well.
The last episode brought back the old marvel vibes, loved it!
Marvel please do more of this. Show had great writing, acting and surprisingly great VFX.
Can't believe Dan didn't talk about my 2 favorite Indie directors, Benson and Moorehead. Their journey over the past decade has been incredible, from making mind bending sci fi movies on shoestring budgets to being mainstream, and they're just getting started.
Synchronic ... is their only one that took longer to grow and wasn't a immediate hit for me. But yes they are phenomenally amazing
That's also pretty much how the Wyld Stallyns became awesome for their world saving concert.
I'm not a fan or time travel or multiverse but the finale did blow me away. Beaufiful imagery at the end there
It's definitely fantasy not sci fi, the temporal stuff is just buzzwords
@@josephblasko26 I hate time travel stories. If its mentioned, I automatically say no. I've seen enough to be unimpressed by their half ass philosophies and poor physics acting as excuses for messy plots. I'm a plot person foremost. But Loki sold me.
I know Sylvie is important, but the show is called Loki. She will get her part in future movies for sure and not loki himself unfortunately
Death Day is GOATED indeed.
Both Happy Death Day films was written by Scott Lobdell, he is a comic writer veteran, I think that's why the movie has a similarity with Loki series
100% agree that Marvel now has options and I believe the ‘24 slate moving to ‘25 is to retool the scripts and direction of the MCU
The final episode was an immensely satisfying watch. Excellent stuff all around, special shout out to the score.
I completely agree with Dan regarding Loki's arc and how much his story needs to end (though he's absolutely my favorite). But hasn't the MCU already announced the two brothers reuniting in a future project?
Dan,
Glad to see you liked it better as a whole.
Love your main points! Keep up the great reviews
The time loop, teach the genius so they can save you, dates back to Stargate.
The loki series was absolutely incredible tom hiddledons range of acting blew me away and made me cry I’m so happy loki got his happy ending
He can handle it now compared to his more petulant beginnings because he's experienced more.
loki presumably still has the power to project his image across a large distance. now he has the capability to project his image across time. he could show up literally anywhere at any time
If we don’t see Kang again that would be a shame
It's wild to think that Loki saved the multiverse and Thor will probably never know.
The using time travel to learn complicated stuff is actually from one of Stargate SG-1's best episodes, Window of Opportunity.
Dan has to talk about so much garbage. I love it when we get a review of appreciation
Jonathan Majors is the goat, the range he has shown already. Hard to pull off, im so hyped to see more off kangs storyline.
I always get concerned when Dan makes his "i think i smell a fart" face in the thumbnail
i enjoyed all of season 3 and the finale was perfect and you just couldnt see the end come.
Didn’t they do the time loop quantum physics thing in Palm Springs too?
@@DanMurrellMovies That makes sense. All of the best SG-1 episodes where based on TNG.
I think that Loki could make an image of himself and visit his friends and visit the timelines. Theoretically, but probably won’t happen on tv or movies. Loki said it himself “I think we’re more powerful than we think we are”. So he could d anything.
I like how it connects to several lines with Loki. "Exists so others can grow to be their best selves," "Lokis survive."
I get the sense that Hiddleston's love of mythology/classics paired well with Waldron's quirky scifi style to get us Loki God of Stories whose story involves being repeatedly put through time loops.
If Loki comes back; it will be to meet with Thor "the sun will shine on us again"
Which Thor will he meet though? The one from this Loki's original timeline or Love & Thunder's Thor?
Hey Dan, Congratulations on the wedding. Did you hear the Coyote Vs. Acme movie was shelved despite doing great with audiences.
Loki is absolutely perfect, down to the last minute detail
