RUclips suggested your channel to me based on my love of homesteading and vintage things. What a pleasant surprise to discover you’re a believer too!! ❤ Subscribing to your channel because this video was not only fun to watch but your peaceful countenance resonated with me. I’m now about to binge your other videos! 🤣

10:53 i recently thrifted a cup like this! In the same brown glaze at the top just a bit darker. I thought it might be hard to clean but it actually hasn’t been! I love the warm brown glazes i have been finding at the thrift shops lately!

You got sooo lucky to find a place like that. I would love to find old drapery material. Man

I have sewn ever since i was a toddler, both hand sewing and machine. But i have always been hesitant to make my own clothes because I started sewing without patterns and i learned to drape fabric on my dolls and siblings to make clothes. I absolutely loved it and got pretty good results but draping on oneself is quite another matter!😅 And i have never invested in a dress form (which I would love to do!) but recently i decided i really wanted to start making my own clothes. I have been looking into indie published patterns since commercial patterns never seemed to work for me. One company that seems to have great patterns is Sew Liberated. They have a RUclips channel that has some great style inspiration too! Also peppermint magazine is a pattern company that i have seen a lot.

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed watching this video. I'm a crocheter, in South Africa.
That crochet book is the very first book that I bought when I started learning to crochet a few years ago. I bought it online, paid R600 for it.
Now, I will start looking for drift stores (We call them second hand stores) near me.
Thank you very much for sharing. Be blessed ❤🙏🏽

Embroidery hoops. 🌸 Love the 10 Commandments for wives! I’m looking forward to the bread recipes and demonstrations. The small jars with lids would be pretty in the bathroom with cotton balls, swabs, or similar items. I’d have grabbed that crochet book, too! Great haul!

Loved going through all the treasures you picked up. Thank you for sharing. I actually have one of those brown odd shaped mugs. My dad had brought it home one day when I was a kid (about 40ish years ago). I think he purchased it at a Dunkin’ Donuts or some other coffee shop. Seeing it in your video reminded me of some beautiful memories with my dad from years back. As for the sample fabrics you picked up, the first thing that came to mind was to make a few beeswax wraps with them.

Thank you! Two people that have greatly helped me with money stuff is Dave Ramsey (his podcast) and Robert Kiyosaki (his board game cash flow- life changing for me!!) Kiyosaki also has a book called Rich Dad Poor Dad which Scott really enjoyed. I'm working on a video talking about my journey with money and tracking, so hopefully I'll get that up soon!

Looking forward to the future bread video 👏👏
The Dear Abbey article indeed would not be published today in any mainstream print. It was a good year too lol, I graduated in 1979 😆. As for the dictionary’s, there could come a day that having such a dictionary with proper meaning of words will be important. In fact old books in general with historical information and how to info could be very valuable and I don’t mean in money.
Great finds in your thrifting adventures! What a fun video.

Hey Kelli, your mugs are cosy looking! Do you know anything about vintage kitchenware and lead paint? I've seen cute things on the internet like vintage plates but I'm not sure what materials could be of concern. Do you know what materials to avoid? I don't have a lot of experience with vintage shopping.

    • @homewithkelli
      @homewithkelli  11 месяцев назад +2

Hi! Yes, I think everyone will have their own convictions on this. From what I've gathered, most fear is instilled by the blogger "Lead Safe Mama" who from what I could tell pretty much says everything old has lead and should be avoided. I have MAJOR values difference from her. She is very clear about her values and health opinions on her blog, which seem to differ quite a bit from my own. She isn't someone I would go to for wisdom when it comes to health.
On top of that, she has said herself her blog is her main source of income, as well as her amazon affiliate links. So she needs fear for people to continue to check back and see what else she says is toxic and what alternatives she recommends you buy from her amazon shop. So this also raises an authenticity flag for me.
Further evidence for me, I've been using old crockery for years. I had a Hair Mineral Analysis Test done last year, which also tests for Lead toxicity. I didn't have any issues with lead in my system, which I believe would have shown up, if the kitchen products I use were actually dangerous.
I think at the end of the day, each person has to make their own decisions with this and do what they have faith for.
I have been told that anytime there is silver or gold on vintage tea cups that should be avoided, this makes a little more sense to me. I have some heirloom teacups with gold rims. I have kept them because they are special to me- they aren't my go to teacups I drink from, but I do still use them on occasion.
Whew, that may have been more than what you were asking! I hope all of this makes sense and helps you as you make your own decisions with this!
