    I found being able to chokehold someone in the middle of a fight a welcome addition. Mainly due to the reason I suck at stealth and always get caught.

    • @FailedQuest
      @FailedQuest  Год назад +2

      Yeah it was a very welcome addition. I used it countless of times. I found it was very forgiving because it didn't mean you were forced to have to kill them or run away and hide. Always nice to have more options like this one where you can give em a little love tap and start choking them to sleep.

    Recently played Dishonored 1-2 and enjoyed them. (Went on an Arkane kick and played Prey as well, which has a lot of design similarities, waiting for Deathloop to go on sale.) What an enormous amount of creative inspiration went into the Dishonored games! Comparing the two, I feel like the first had more of a dark, mysterious atmosphere. As you mentioned in the video, the specifics of relationships are only hinted at, as is the identity of the heart, the Outsider’s comments are strange and vaguely threatening, and the whole thing feels kind of veiled and odd and artistic, like a dark impressionist painting. Part 2 just sweeps this veiled aside, like wind clearing fog, and bluntly tells you everything right at the outset. It’s like the dev team was running low on inspiration this time, but improving their development skills, so they just made technical improvements. Still a great game, but lacking some of what made the first so intriguing.

    The first game pretty much confirmed corvo was Emily's dad, even if it wasnt directly said. It was simply mentioned so many times, and The empress never had a relationship with anyone. Delilah was also introduced in the first game of the DLC, and we knew relatively what they wanted.

      I would be so down for that too. If they did like a Dishonored and Dishonored 2 remaster editions and I'd love it if Fallout 4 gets the same treatment. Granted on PC you can always mod it or play these games at those higher framerates but it would be awesome to see the textures get an overhaul in all those games.

    Brooooo I literally searched for dishonored on youtube and found this video because I have fantasized about the franchise since 2017. I have played Dishonored 2 the most but honestly, I think the Death of the Outsider DLC is criminally underrated and overshadowed! The map level design in that DLC is super good in my opinion. Will you be making any more videos on Dishonored? I'd love every type of dishonored content lol

      Hey mate, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. I know what you mean about having this franchise ingrained in your mind. I remember playing Dishonored when it first came out all those years ago and it definitely left a lasting impression. It's kind of wild this Dishonored 2 video is doing so well long after it went up. As I did the Dishonored in 2023 and then Dishonored 2 in 2023 videos and they both flopped when they were first uploaded. I think the leaked news of there being a new Dishonored game in the work has started pushing this video more to folks or as you said people are searching for more Dishonored content as a result of the news. I would definitely be keen to cover more Dishonored related things in the future. Especially if there is a new game for the franchise in the works.

    i was able to tweak my PC and my old ass GTX 970 card to run this game at 85fps in most areas of the game, however when the game loads up lots of city assets from a distance is where it struggles the most, there are some control panel adjustments you can tweak to make the game run better, but i also had to drop the textures and other things in my graphics settings to achieve that speed.

    Yeah I was a little confused about Emily and Corvo's relationship too, but in it's pretty much confirmed in the first game in a high chaos playthrough on the last level when Trevor Pendleton taunts you by saying "We all know you were screwing the empress, so you like noble women, huh?" It does seem kind of weird they would be way more clear about it from the get-go in dishonored 2 tho

    • @FailedQuest
      @FailedQuest  Год назад +1

      Yeah I think for all the times I played Dishonored I never did a high chaos playthrough so I missed that line. That is why when I played Dishonored 2 and they confirmed Corvo having a relationship with Jessamine and that he was indeed Emily's father. My mind was indeed blown.

      Wait what?????? How did I miss this. Aside from using sleeping darts I couldn't find a way to use the pistol or sword without killing folks and ruining my low chaos run. Please tell me how you can do this as I'd love to replay it using all the tools I can. I would get into fights and knock them out during combat after parrying the enemy but I didn't know there was a way to use the pistol in a non lethal capacity.

    One thing that stuck like a thorn in my side was the opening. It made it hard to like the game for some time. The scenery is beautiful, level designs are phenomenal. New powers, two protagonists, new enemies made it enjoyable. But that opening really hurt.
    Hi everyone. I'm the new queen. As queen I demand the old royal family, my relatives be executed immediately. Don't mind my magic, I know it's usually kill magic users on sight but I'm the queen so it's cool.
    Like oh are they gonna make it to where the protagonist has to find allies like in the first game, doesn't the kingdom like the actually queen are they really just gonna let some witch run everything no questions asked?
    Easy fix, make me think people are under some kind of spell and that's why they betray you. Make me think the kingdom doesn't like the current administration. Literally that's it. As is it feels half assed. Like I killed Delilah, but according to the story I spared her and some witches brought her back and now she's up to the same old sheet. If I kill her in this game will the next game say I went non lethal and she comes back again because some witches released her?

    • @FailedQuest
      @FailedQuest  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment. It has now unfortunately lifted the veil from my eyes and your points about the start of the game's story has now made me rethink the entire thing. I will admit I took it all for face value but the points you have highlighted makes me realise how nonsensical the whole idea of Delilah overthrowing Corvo and Emily actually was.

      @@FailedQuest getting past the lazy writing, or possible need to make a new story the game does have it's shining moments. Karnaca is a beautiful well designed level. Hypatias hospital/ laboratory was a conglomerate mess. Then immediately after jindoshs mansion is one of my favorite levels. Right up there with the Boyle manor. Everyone's favorite is the time traveling mansion for good reason, it's well designed interesting in mechanic and overall enjoyable, only to be stabbed by the silly story where Delilah knows your observing her even from the past. Just because I didn't enjoy dishonoured 2 as much as the original and it's dlc I wouldn't want to take away from slivers of joy it gave me from time to time and I guess I forgot to add the things dis2 got right.
      I appreciate you replying to my comment, it's a bit long winded but well thought out and a decade in the making 😂 I had forgot what I disliked about it until I recently replayed it on the PS5.

    I dont know if anyone mentioned it, but your aspect ratio is off. Everything looks horizontally smooshed. Idk 16:9 is the default and 4:3 looks ok, but as it stands it looks weird.
    Edit: actually I realized everything is vertically stretched.

      Hey mate, you have a very keen eye. I was playing some of the dishonored 2 on a mix of my ultrawide monitor and some of it on my 4k 160hz monitor. Seems a lot of the footage used was from the ultrawide recordings where it is squished from ultrawide 21:9 to 16:9 so probably why it looks funny.
      You are very good for picking it up as no one else has yet. I could definitely see it myself but wasn't sure if it's just because I knew it was recorded from footage on an ultrawide or if it was indeed squashed.
      I did also try to do the Baldur's gate video actually in 21:9 ultrawide format and no one seemed to mind but I think going forward I'll retire the ultrawide and stick with my other two monitors which are 1440p 144hz and 4k 160hz both being 16:9 it just is what is more universally accepted and what folks like.
      Thank you for watching the dishonored 2 video and hopefully it didn't distract you too much the squished video. 👍

    Maybe its improved and you never experienced it because you got to it late, but I bought the game at launch because I was really into the first game, and couldn't even get 30 frames with it crashing constantly on a GTX 1070ti. The card is outdated now, but you have to realise the 1080 was only just released that year, so it should not have performed so badly. Because of this, I'm a little insulted you summarised the performance issues with "you're never going to get 200fps" but again, maybe it has improved, so I am downloading it again on newer hardware

    • @FailedQuest
      @FailedQuest  Год назад

      Yeah I can't speak for how it performed at launch but I did play on my 4090 at 4k with everything maxed out and in the cities with a bunch of the NPCs about it was still struggling to get a consistent framerate. That is why I just capped it as I personally prefer a locked 60 or 120 or whatever over it jumping around from 144 suddenly down to 70 fps or what not. If that makes sense? When it's locked at a framerate it is able to maintain it makes the overall experience feel smoother. That was all I meant with my comments in the video. 👍

    • @lordshiva7162
      @lordshiva7162 Год назад

      @@FailedQuest Ignore my saltiness. I was bitter someone enjoyed something I wasn't able to experience. I have been playing it though and while it does perform better, it really does struggle with the large environments and amount of NPCs like you mentioned. I have it capped at 30 frames myself just to avoid stuttering as much as possible. It's really unfortunate because the environments and new powers are really cool.
