Sometimes the song needed a little more time in the oven anyway, and my "inaccuracies" are really improvements!

That's great, but for a lot of other singers, their inaccuracies are sloppy and much more difficult to correct after they have become a memorized habit. It's a lot better to learn the song correctly from the start. 🙂

@@Victoria-Victorious I guess it depends on what we mean by an "inaccuracy." If any deviation from what's written counts as such, well, I'm not sure I agree. Even professionals will sometimes not do what's written in the score. I just noticed this recently in listening to Brian Stokes Mitchell singing "Through Heaven's Eyes"; he does not observe everything Schwartz wrote, I don't think!
It's one thing if the variation doesn't work musically and *sounds* like a mistake, but if it works fine (or better) than what's written, I don't really see much of a problem. Just my perspective.

@@joshdaniels2363 Of course! I always talk about the difference between style and default in my longer videos. I believe you even commented that you were happy that I mentioned it in my video on pitch. What you are talking about here is style and I completely agree. However, varying notation for style is a choice and many singers are not aware of that. Continuing your comment, I will always tell a singer that their style is too rigid if it is too much "in the box" in certain contemporary genres. However, this video addresses singers that are not aware of the notes and I hear wrong notes every single day that definitely detract from the performance. It's not possible to include everything in a shorts video that has to be under 60 seconds. :)

I subscribed to and watch quite a few of your videos. I feel that I have found a gold mine. I am sure all these amateur problems are with me. Now my most obvious and frustrating issue is not having enough air to support a complete phrase very often. I was told to plan where to take breath, take deeper breath down to diaphragm and even use lip trio to practice the problem phrase, still I am not able to overcome the issue. Maybe I have air leak issue? Maybe my lung capacity is indeed very small? Maybe my breathing is just wrong. I need tools to fight these problems. I have found it mysterious that some singers can hold a phrase unbelievably long. How do they do that? Thank you, Teacher Victoria!

It's all in the quality of inhalation and how you budget the escape of air (breath support). See my playlist on Breathing & Breath Support.
