    Support is by far the most difficult aspect for me. The feel, the pressure, the sensations. It's quite difficult for me haha. I've watched all your videos about breath support many times and they are very helpful. I especially like that you don't use the cue of going to the bathroom :D

    I've just realized why I can't hold vocal warmups like trills for very long. I knew my breathing was the issue but I didn't realize it is "unsupported" singing like everyone talks about!! Thank you so much!

    I realized I was locking a lot on longer phrases because I thought I had to keep my abs and ribs suspended all the time after inhaling. Because of this my tongue root dropped and I couldn't ease into my high notes. Even harsh metal vocals that require a certain amount of compression were worse due to the oversuspending which intensified the compression so that my throat would feel tensed.

    Thank you soo very much. Im looking for voice lessons for my 9yr old son. Im not a trained singer , but i can sing higher as well when u take that breath cause im a tenor range. I dont like my own real signing voice. I did have painio lesaons for awhile as a child but i can only take him so far, my son is a tenor as well the complete outside of me almost.lol my husband is a singer and can sing better than me . but i like ur teaching style and u taught a 44 yr ild women that sings LOW, to not just strive to go alittle higher ,I did it. Thx to ur little tool, i have 3 kids a 21 yr old a 18 year old and a 9 yr. And all my kids are special but my to older children didnt get the god given gift, i wasnt going to have another baby, but at 21 yrs old i was handed my baby so he became my dream , and trust me i wanted them to have that extra god given gift, cause i didnt live mine out , but i know i dont have the gift i had to learn , when i heard my 3.5 yr old son start signing one day out of the blue i heard him playing in his room, and then i heard something i taught he hit the alarm clock etc. It was his voice, now hes 9 and he has this gift and im scard of it. So any advice , and im looking for private lessons for him hes a beginer with no bad habits of trying to sound like the singer, ge has his own sound and he didnt have to find it, that scard me to. ❤ but overall thank u!

    I love your teaching style and the details you provide. I can really get into this. For most people, maybe, the voice is the most neglected part of the human body. I think of it as a wonderful gift from God to express praise and thanks to Him and to inspire and encourage others listening. Just read in the Book of the Psalms. David or Solomon always had praises to sing to God. Thank you for giving your time and interest to teach us how to use this wonderful gift of singing!

    Victoria, mio core!!! Hihi, hi Victoria and all you happy singing people! I cannot stress enough how much your videos have been and are a treasure indeed! Since I discovered your channel my singing went totally light years ahead! I have been studying classical technique privately for about little over a year with another year worth of break. Nowadays the lessons cannot happen due to pandemic, but I watch your videos in my own order (which corresponds with your suggestions during the videos) and boy oh boy, what a treat? It truly is life changing, mixing your teachings with teachings of my tutors in face to face lessons. I already put tons of it to use and the change is everlasting and empirical! Thank you and keep you doing what you do. Unfortunately, we are ocean apart, but thank God and you for your benevolence in teaching all of us the ways you do! Stay positive!

I have learned so much already I do have a question though what if I cough or have to clear my throat often even if I just think about singing this ha;ppens sometimes I think some of it is nerves as I have stage fright but even when I am gonna sing in front of some one I know! or by myself.

      Try to limit how much you clear your throat and if you have to clear your throat when singing, do so gently. Drink more water. Check your technique to see if throat tension is causing this mucous. (I have lots of videos on throat tension). Then sing more in front of people to combat your nerves! I have a video on stage fright too! 😊

I can hiss and it's steady, but when I get to a certain point I feel a little lightheaded. I am sitting down so no worries there. I hope the more I work on this the less that will happen. This is so informative!! Just to be clear, when we change from the "Elastic Pulse" to singing the song not pulsing, are you still pulsing your abs? or are you holding it in at a light tenseness? also! how do you know how far to support without turning into locking?

      I have a lot of videos on that. Have you seen my playlist on Breathing & Breath Support? See videos 2, 3, and 4 from the top of the list on breath support and how to apply it to singing.

  • @randomfrog1196
    @randomfrog1196 Год назад +3

    Hello again Victoria ^_^
    So, if I understand correctly- support isn't intentionally pushing/hardening your stomach/abdominal muscles like a shell.
    Support is controlling how fast your stomach/abdomen (sometimes just called diaphragm area) pushes/releases air into your vocal cords?
    Support means slowing/regulating your air, which naturally in turn causes your said muscles to ENGAGE actively.
    Support isn't about tightening/hardening your muscles, which would mean LOCKING your said muscles so they can't aid the release of air.
    Am I going the right direction in this line of thought? Gosh, you're an amazing coach- I have never had so many breakthrough thoughts or different understandings of my voice as I have had while watching your videos. You're awesome, Miss Victoria!
    Thank you.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  3 года назад

      Yes, correct. The important word is *floating* open. You can *lock* open too, which would then just lock your breath and your whole voice. Do the exercises in this video and feel the difference between locking and balance or airflow and resistance.

I'll try to keep them elastic as much as I can! But I did notice the free flow of air while doing the exercises with you.. I always blamed my throat for something it never did.. Sorry throat! haha.
    Do you have videos on how to strengthen the vocal cords, so I would be able to hold a note without my voice breaking or cracking? I feel like my voice has no .. how to say it.. echo. I want to have some resonance but it's hard to achieve. Any golden tips?

      Yes, I have videos on all of that! 😃 Watch the video on the weak voice and on ring. Do the siren exercises that I include in a lot of my videos, plus humming to vowels. Here is my playlist for Better Tone Quality. ruclips.net/video/vLukxe-dsKg/видео.html

    Again, a very helpful Video. Thanks for all your efforts!❤
    Question: in a different Video you say, not to do chest breathing. One shouldn t Move the chest. Here in this Video you say, If i understand correctly- one can move the chest and also should Move flanks/chestribs. It s a point i don’t get! I can t Move my flanks without slightly Moving/breathing into chest (my shoulders dont Go up though). Also, If i only relax tummy while inhaling i ve got a feeling, i do Not getting enough Air (approx. Every 4-5 breath) and ripcage/flanks dont open. I Know one doesnt Need so much air for singing but i have this as a normal need. I Hope you can follow my explaination 😮 So i would be Great to know how to do it Right! It would be Great to see the bodywork you do while singing. And is it right Not to Give Impulses while singing a Phrase (why do teachers always say to Give more Power on the high Note in the phrase? If i do that i can see my Upper stomach giving an Impulse). So i try to practise to keep my tummy out. So your exercise is Not for illustrative purpose to Give Impulses while singing or? Last Question: as a tip you said to imagine blowing up a ballon First easy than stronger. But If a Blow up a difficult ballon i feel locked up?! Is it correct to vary the strenth of Supporting muscles within a song or Even phrase? Or ist that wrong because it is opposite of just holding breath flexible (no pushing or pulling) but blowing a balloon is slighly pushing (for me atleast😢) Yours Natalie

      Okay, so you are asking about 2 different things. The first is inhalation, second is breath support (or controlled exhalation). Here are 3 videos that should help answer your questions: 1) Breathing Inhalation for Singing - Explained SIMPLY, CLEARLY, CORRECTLY! ruclips.net/video/qzrHSAFV-EM/видео.html
      2) Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - CLEARLY & CORRECTLY explained - FINALLY! (VIDEO #12) - ruclips.net/video/WR2772TGrgo/видео.html (and if the thicker balloon exercise makes you tight, then just stick to the easy and moderate balloon).
      3) How to Improve Breath Support for Singing - APPLY IT CORRECTLY! ruclips.net/video/5m-5kW87P_M/видео.html

    Thank you for your video. Is it best to let the lower abdominals balloon out like we do with the abdomen & at the same time?

      They expand but should not "balloon out", otherwise you would probably wind up with an ugly belly breath. See this video: Breathing for Singing - UGLY (and Common) MISTAKE & SOLUTION! .ruclips.net/video/43VUzocnNcQ/видео.html

    I love the exercises.. I'm trying to hold long notes and I want to know if often I need to do. Also. How long do I need to do these exercises for?

      If you are working on a particular aspect ofyour technique, I recommend working it in exercises for a few minutes each day, 6 days a week. As far as exercises, more often is better than 1-2x a week. I say minimum of 10 min a day on exercises, or 20 even better. Then apply to your song.

    Hello! I love your style and singing tips, and was wondering if you could help me out. I’ve been working on supporting my breath from the diaphragm, and I can tell I’ve improved and have better support. My throat doesn’t feel closed off, my shoulders don’t scrunch up, and I try and keep my back straight. Generally, I feel pretty good when singing, but I’ve noticed lately when I’m breathing in the back of my neck hurts at the base. It’s just sore and bothersome especially when I move my head. Do you know what would be causing that soreness?

      I think you are misunderstanding it. I have an entire playlist on breath support. This video expalins it clearly and simply: Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - CLEARLY & CORRECTLY explained - FINALLY! (VIDEO #12) - ruclips.net/video/WR2772TGrgo/видео.html
