    Always good! Always balanced! I spent my life “tanking up” and my high notes were always strained and restricted in pitch. Relaxing and trusting has made sooooo much difference!! Thanks sooooooo much Victoria! It’s so much more fun now and I am 70 years old and my singing is better than ever. My joy has increased and I feel hope as I go forward. God bless you Victoria for sharing this wisdom with all of us!!

    This is absolutely the topic that confounds so many of us. I was taught to keep the ribs from collapsing and uncoupling the lower core from the upper vocal tract. When have a set with punchy tunes, my lower core is bouncing like crazy, but my throat is generally relaxed.

    With the possible vocal chord paralysis and spasms I found that bending seemed to ease my them, but I ran out of air at the last note or two. I think I can work with that a little more to help it. I did have trouble getting the pitch to match what I know it's supposed to sound like. Sometimes it's there and other times no, but there may not be anything I can do about that. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    Victoria! Where have you been all my life??? I sing jazz. Sang for many years, but I have not performed for the last 10 years. I'm now 65 years old and just found the accompanist of my dreams. I want to sound good--no, great! And I've become super aware of my mistakes physically, because I know that my voice is out of shape. People have always told me that I sound really good--and it's true, but I can't sustain it. My throat tightens up, I run out of breath at the end of a phrase and become weak. Just for extra fun, I have mild asthma and chronic sinusitis. Phlegm! Yuk! (any advice?). I drink lots of slippery elm bark tea for that.
    I'm worried that I'll lose it in the middle of a performance. I now have more opportunities to perform than I've ever had--and time's a wastin'! Then, I found you on You Tube! I just got started with your program and videos, and already feel that I've learned so much. Love the breath support and throat opening exercises, that's where I'm starting. Thanks so much for your clear explanations and the exercises that really make a difference!
    You have given me hope that I can continue to sing long after the age of 65, that is such a gift. Thank you! Have you considered addressing issues that older singers encounter with our changing voices? Your explanation of how our voices change and how to work with those changes would be much appreciated.

    Hello Victoria👋🏻! Nice to meet you, I’m Aina and I’m from Spain 🇪🇸. I’ve following you for a while on RUclips and I truly believe you’re a real professional vocalist, so I would like to know your take on the following question. I really want to go to the US to master my singing, become a vocalist and have control over my voice, but I don’t really see how could I do that. Do you know any music school that has an effective singing program? Or would you recommended me another type of training that doesn’t involve enrolling into a school? I really don’t know what to do, I’m a bit lost. I would appreciate it if you could give me a hand 😅🙏🏻.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH, and keep your work I really enjoy it 💜

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад +1

      Hi Alna! It really comes down to who you study with, whether it be in a formal setting as in university or privately on your own. There are lots of good schools here, but majoring in voice is not a necessity for good training unless you really want to to go the academic route. Find a teacher that you trust and with whom you are comfortable. 🙂

    Hi Victoria, I have a question. Does your program cover all voice ranges? I don’t know what my range is. I want to continue practicing with your tips since I made great gains with my voice! Following the tips on the video on Appoggio under the name “Supporting the Voice”was a game changer for me. When I realized that I was unintentionally locking my breath with too much effort and thus locking my voice, I made the small adjustment and it changed going from singing with weak resonance and occasional vibrato to singing with steady and natural vibrato, from a tight voice to a free voice with resonance and ping. I want to build from there since it can only get better with continuing to apply the techniques. I’m having an absolute blast and have set goals on maybe joining a choir or band for fun in a few years.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад

      Hi Aldo! The program comes in 4 voice types - bass/baritone and tenor for men, alto/mezzo-soprano and soprano for women. If you are not sure of your voice type, I generally recommend bass/baritone for men and alto/mezzo for women unless you consider your voice to be very high in range. This always works in the beginning, but if it is too low, you have 30 days to exchange for the higher voice program. Each program covers a generous 2 1/2 octaves in range.

    So, I've never had great breath control, but it used to be much better than it is. Like much much better. Used to get a lot of compliments about my singing, even if it wasn't perfect, I sang with feeling and passion and I had a definite style. Now when I sing I have a tendency to lose my breath very quickly, I have a tendency to cough. I don't find notes easily either, And I can't hit the notes I used to hit. I'm not even sure what happened. I mean I guess it could be that I'm out of practice, and I'm sure that's part of it to some extent. It just feels like it started getting harder to sing and then gradually from there just kept getting harder and harder and now it takes so much effort out of me that I hardly even try. I don't have the confidence anymore to do it in front of people, so if I ever want to get better it's like I have to scrounge a bunch of money to try to get a rehearsal space where I can soundproof and not be heard while I'm practicing. I don't think there's any other way because I would just be too embarrassed. Singing used to be a huge part of my life and my identity and now it's like… I don't know. It just feels like I'm never gonna get out of this rut. Any advice? Any suggestions? Sorry if this post is a downer I'm just starting to feel really discouraged, like it's never gonna get any better.
