    I do recommend this for people with external hemorrhoids. It helps to get better without medication.

    This is probably a stupid question but is there a point to the water being shallow? Like if you have a cyst would soaking in a full bath do the same thing?

    • @mamanatural
      @mamanatural  2 года назад +1

      Yes a shallow bath soaks just the affected part without exposing the rest of your body to what you’re soaking. You don’t necessarily want to submerge something that is possibly infected or could get infected along with the rest of your body!

      It avoids cross contamination from the rest of the body in order to avoid infection. It would also waste a lot more resources since you would need quite a bit more of whatever you put in the water as well as the water itself. A sitz bath for healing is recommended after after bowel movement and additional times as well, so usually 3-6 times a day! That would be a tremendous amount of water and time.

      Movement in that area, especially vigorous movement, can make it worse. Always wait until you get clearance from your care provider for exercise!

    Just diagnosed with my first hemorrhoid (didn't know you can have one) and a sitz bath was recommended.
    Received the kit today, and when reading the sitz bath salts instructions, it says after the bath, to rinse with clean, warm water only. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of getting the bath for the toilet? Now I have to get in the shower after the bath to rinse.

    The horrible hospital my daughter was born at gave (charged insurance) a sitz bath without explaining how to use it. Both my daughter and myself almost died in childbirth so the sitz bath wasn’t a priority. At the time google wasn’t a big thing so I had trouble trying to find out how to use it. It didn’t make sense that the back end and front end sit in a small thing of water. It didn’t seem sanitary so I never used it. I’m still curious all these years later if I could find out how. Mine had the plastic tubing but it’s still a mystery to use. Putting it on the toilet also didn’t seem sanitary.

      Sitz baths are strange devices but they can be SO helpful! SO, so sorry you had such a horrible birth experience!

      When taking a bath, you are soaking everything together in the same water as well. The additions of the salt, baking powder and/or vinegar would make it more safe than a regular bath due to the antimicrobial effects. The expensive kits come with a tube that hooks to the faucet so that it can continually feed in warm water from the front area and out the back area to keep the water from getting cold and so the water is always clean. Some come with an additional tube that allows you to spray that warm water onto the area as well.
      You'd be able to use it to easily clean your bottom area each time you use the restroom with the spray nozzle which would be important for comfort and healing in many of the cases that these are used for. Those who are having these issues are told to use wet wipes or this type of kit to clean the area every time since toilet paper is abrasive, so it would be pretty clean before each sitz bath as well. I hope that helps solve the mystery! If you still have that kit, it's a very nice expensive one and if you don't intend to use it, perhaps you could donate it since it was never used.

      @@Iconoclast1919 thank you! I appreciate it. It would’ve been helpful to know this leaving postpartum in the hospital, but they didn’t care back then! It was back in 2006 before ACA and when nothing was covered, and when there was next to nothing in support for pre and post natal. I had my second almost a year ago. I went with the peri bottle because of the experience with the sitz bath- not knowing anything and no help. Wish I had the peri bottle the first time!! I threw away that sitz bath unfortunately. Hospital and nurses were better this time around. Still deplorable how there is truly no support pre and post natal.

    Hi there ! Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I have just been to theatre last week Wednesday, for a laproscope (removal of endometriosis) and I had a bartholins cyst removal at the sametime. It has been removed, but do you recommend I take a Sitz Bath so soon after my op?

      Yes, sitz baths are generally recommended for bartholin cysts BUT since you also had other surgery, it would be best to ask your doctor!

    Does not give adequate information on the toilet sitz bath. If it sets on top of the porcelain, the seat flops on your back which is uncomfortable. The sitz bath can spin around when you try to get up. Have a friend recovering from anal cancer and we are trying to educate on sitz bath. This video is too vague and general.
